This document is a creative writing storyboard that describes a pivotal moment in the author's life when they opened up to their mother about personal issues they were facing. The author had been trying to please others and act confident, which was impacting their real self. During a vulnerable moment in the kitchen, the mother comforted the author and said words of wisdom that helped the author feel at peace. This interaction with their mother brought about positive changes to the author's outlook, confidence, and overall well-being. It showed the importance of love from those closest to us.

3. She was young, stunning, youthful, and yet at the same time
challenging as just about anyone. She never asked for anything
for herself, rather always thinking about everyone else.
4. There must have been many things in life she must have
wanted or even needed- but a tough and giving heart goes a
long way. One glorious moment could never be named of this
woman, because she meant a lot to me. I may always be
indebted to her presence and sacrifice.
5. I am only fifteen, a junior in high school, family of six, and not
much more. I would say I am an overachiever, but that could be
genetic gift from her. I was not always bright as I think I am
now. But she always made me believe I was a lot more than
just a lively, attractive, and radiant person.
6. It was on this day that changed my whole life, not just now, but
for many more years to come.
That’s me!
7. It was a busy week, full of assignments, calls, and the usual
load of responsibility. I would have said that I was doing
perfectly fine. However, she would have said otherwise. It was
a Saturday morning, my brother and I had just come home
from our Squash practice.
8. And just like any other Saturday I would do a little bit of
schoolwork, and more of relaxing. She had been quite
pressured from what I had seen in the past week. My father
had gone to the Manchester, UK, in the glorious of disconsolate
summer days. He had been there for a whole dreaded week
before coming home late a few days before.
9. It was quite the blissful evening when he was home, having
finally put down the weight of him not being around. We were
all used to him being the ‘man’ of the house- so none of us put
much effort in being one ourselves. We had cleaned up after
dinner and asked him so many questions.
10. I could tell she was happy seeing him home, although that
didn’t mean she had less work to do like we did. She
immediately cleared the remains of dinner after father ate and
went towards the typical unpacking.
11. Seeing her the next day caught us by surprise. She was still in
a livid mood, and would set off at just about anything. It was at
this moment I had a whole new different view of how important
she was to me. We came down for lunch as the blissful aroma of
cooked rice livened us. We took our seats, spread out the plates
and spoons, and started to gobble down.
12. I had kept my head low all morning, I had made plenty of here
and there mistakes; like forgetting to give money to our coach.
And this, had already made her upset and kept her like that all
morning.
13. As everyone in the kitchen cleared off and went back to their
daily activities, it was only me and her left. She glanced up at
me, for the actual first time with those questioning and
genuine eyes. I was going through a personality slip these past
few months, and I knew she noticed right about now.
14. She started to ask me if everything was alright, and if there was
something I was going through. Of course I had lied at first, but then
she dug deeper into the person waiting inside me- and it reached out.
Tears started to flow down my cheeks uncontrollably and I was
shaken to see myself in such a state. I had issues, yes, like everyone
else does- but whatever I was going through now was not something
I could go through alone.
15. I had tried to be someone I was not, someone who was far more
confident. Which was alright on a few levels, however had a
large impact on the real me. The real me inside the dark hole,
anxious to know if she was alright for everyone. “It should not
have been this way,” She said with tears starting up in the
corners of her coffee-drop eyes.
16. “Why do you want to please everyone else? They don’t know
your potential, you do. Why would you break yourself by
pleasing people that don’t care?” Which is a question I couldn’t
answer, and had no intention to. She crossed by the table, took
me in her arms and held me close.
17. If felt as though my heart was now at peace, and my soul could
rest at night. These problems hovered my mind every morning
and night, but I would keep brushing them off thinking it was
not at all an actual problem.
18. But how did this affect me? How did situation truly make me feel?
This moment in my life created and brought about a newer me. It
didn’t just change certain outlooks in my life. It help me broaden my
aspects, look at things a little differently, and gave me a new version
of hope to clutch upon. I never knew that a few minutes of
comforting would do so much. But it was someone significant that
had let out those words of wisdom, and that is why those minutes of
my life were the best ones.
19. I felt lighter, a little more confident, and lot healthier and that
gave me a whole new and better stance than before. My whole
attitude changed around people, and that really affected the
way I conversed. If I felt tired, I won’t go downstairs and meet
someone I didn’t want to. If I didn’t like a person, I wouldn’t
talk to them anymore.
20. That is how much this situation improved my wellbeing and
life. I took care of myself, looked forward to things I loved, and
was happy with what I had. I never needed therapy, I just
needed love from the person that knew me best.
21. And that person was a warrior, a teacher of all kinds, a well
poised, determined woman, and best of all… she was my
mother.
