1. News Story Analysis 2
Recently in the news there has been a story about 3 teenage girls who have gone to Syria,
its reported that through radicalisation from twitter pages and various other contacts these
3 teenage girls have up and left the UK to travel to Syria and join ISIS. The story is heavily
linked to the current war and terrorist scares that occurring in other countries as well as the
up.
So public interest in this story is very high as it also has an impact on safety so people are
trying to keep up to date so they know what I happening with the current terrorist situation.
People have already been leaving the UK to travel to Syria to join ISIS but what makes this
story more important is that they are underage, so the media is very precise in what they
say.
BBC who is reporting on it more than others have a newsroom policy to not be biased so
they are currently not emphasising any means in which the teenagers were manipulated or
radicalised per say. Other tabloid newspapers, for example the sun, like to emphasise the
religion of the teenagers and how immigration has been a benefiting factor to this cause
which is purely a matter of opinion for now.
There are no audio clips for this report, but I’m positive interviews were help on the subject
of why this is happening. There can be many follow up story’s from this subject, such as why
radicalisation is continued to be practised in our own country, also how can we stop it and
why is it effecting the youth of the country.
There is also a major culture issue which is occurring considering that a lot of this violence
and racismhappens when people don’t understand each other’s religious views, this could
be a contributing factor to the propaganda being spread to Muslim youth and causing them
to radicalise.
