● Cost wise, transportation is the most visible logistic
operation (approx 40-50 % of total Logistics cost)
● It moves resources where it is required.
● Brings out efficiency in operations by saving transit time
and cost.

1. A good indicator to measure the Economic, Social &
Commercial progress of a country.
2. It facilitates production by moving the various means of
production.
