3. Meaning Material Handling
Material Handling means movement of materials
from one place to another and / or movement in
direction at a same place.
Materials are required to be moved during
Manufacturing, finishing, printing, labeling,
packaging, loading, unloading, storing, stacking,
retrieving etc
4. Objectives of Material Handling Operations
a) To decrease the order fulfilling time
b) To protect the goods from breakages and damages during
movement.
c) To facilitate uninterrupted production and distribution schedules
d) To provide safety to workers
e) To improve the overall efficiency in operations
