body systems that control the way a person walks do not function in usual way.
An abnormal gait may be permanent. It may happens due to any of the
following reasons:
Genetic factor
Injury
Illness
Abnormalities in the legs or foot
4. TYPES OF GAIT PATTERN
The Types of Gait Pattern Analysis are as follows:
• Spastic Gait
• Scissors Gait
• Steppage Gait
• Waddling Gait
• Propulsive Gait
5. PRINCIPLE OF GAIT
PATTERN
• Gait analysis is the systematic study of human walking, using the eye
and brain of experienced observers, augmented by instrumentation for
measuring body movements, body mechanics, and the activity of the
muscles.
• A healthy gait pattern depends on an array of biomechanical features,
orchestrated by the central nervous system for economy and stability.
6. CAUSES OF GAIT PATTERN
• A degenerative disease
• An inner ear disorder
• Stroke
• A neurologic condition
• Something as simple as ill-fitting shoes
7. PREVENTATION OF GAIT
PATTERN
• Avoiding the participation in contact sports
• Wearing protective gear during sports
• Wearing well-fitting footwear during physical activity
• Wearing leg braces if needed
