• Mechanical Property Prediction System of TMT Bars.
- Gathered every per tenth of second data of process parameter from sensors and
equipment which influenced the mechanical property of TMT bars. This system
generates the decision based on data which has been store in HDFS, whether
Mechanical Property of TMT bars is within customer specification or not.
(Environment: Apache Hadoop, Hive, Sqoop, Oozie, Linux.)
• Elimination of Rejection in EDD grades due to Coiling Temperature
performance in HSM.
- Growing customer requirements demanded controlling the coiling temperature
with stringent limits at Hot strip Mill. Data analysis was done, levers were
identified, and trails were taken and finally implemented. Now the rejection rate is
almost zero from 50 tons/month average. (Languages used: C Programming).
• Mill Level-2 changes related to roughing mill motor breakdown to ensure
smooth rolling and minimum effect on mill productivity in HSM.
- RM motor breakdown was major catastrophe at HSM. To ensure smooth rolling
and minimize the effect on mill productivity many changes at system level
configuration parameters and changes in draft pattern were done. Also RM
intensity analysis with changing motor was done to see the impact if it replaced by
old under rated motor. (Languages used: C Programming).
• Improve the Furnace Level-2 system utilization of rebar mill from 0 % to 80 %.
- Six sigma methodology used for utilization enhancement of automation system.
- Improved the system reliability and communication with other agencies.

• MIS report for opticrop system in HSM.
- To monitor the crop loss performance due to Opticrop cut at HSM, there was no
system in place. Now new system has been placed by creating new interfaces with
Mill Level-1 and Level-2 which can generate automatic MIS report for Opticrop
system and can send to the respective management. (Languages used: C
Programming).
• Redesign of Mill Call of pacing module to extract the slab from furnace in HSM.
- Mill call logic design to extract the slabs from the Furnace optimally has been
strengthened to avoid the bar collision in the Roughing mill area. New logic
ensures 100% auto mill call to extract the slabs from furnace even in case of delays
in roughing mill passes. (Languages used: C Programming).
• Development of new feature to ensure 100% schedule availability in HSM.
- There was no system to check the next schedule availability from Level-3 to Level-
2 for next campaign rolling. Many a times this led delays in mill. To avoid this new
feature has been developed at Level-2 to check the schedule availability before one
hour, if not available it alerts the operator so that it can be taken care beforehand.

• Development of tracking forward (TRKFWD) utility tool in HSM.
- Tracking is heart of the Level-2 functionality. Sometimes instrumentation signal
failures causes tracking failure which leads to manual intervention and causes
delay in the process. To address this new utility tool has been designed which can
help operator to synchronize tracking in the line at before roughing mill
installation. (Languages used: C Programming).
• Implementation of Boat Shaped cooling in auto at HSM to meet the requirement
of M/S JCAPCPL.
- To meet requirements of M/S JCAPCPL, our new joint venture, Boat Shaped
Cooling pattern has been implemented. Boat shaped cooling means achieving
different target temperatures within the same strip for strip head, tail and Body.
(Language Used: C Programming).
• Simulation of separate rolling conditions for IF/IFHS steel in HSM.
- To improve Mill rolling speed and achieving target Finish Temperature of the
product for IF/IFHS steel rolling, separate rolling conditions were developed.
(Language Used: C Programming).
• Finishing Mill Setup calculation with dummy stand in HSM.
- Preventing Finishing Mill Setup calculation with two or more than two stands
dummy. Synchronization of Level-1 dummy selection, Operator dummy selection
and Level-2 auto dummy selection treating Level-1 dummy selection is a master.
(Language Used: C Programming).
• Implementation of Coil Tracking Transport System (CTTS) interfaces with 6 Hi
reversible cold rolling mill in CRM Bara.
- Developed logic to handle the coil supply request, coil supply request completion,
coil rejection request from tracking and coil rejection request completion with
CTTS and updating mill tracking info to CTTS. (Languages used: C#.Net and
Oracle).
• Up-gradation of CRM Bara Level-2 pickling line with secondary pay off reel
(POR).
- Level-2 changes were done to meet the requirement of up-gradation of pickling
line. (Languages used: C#.Net, OPC and Oracle).
• Development and Commissioning of Level 2 automation process control system
for Merchant Mill.
- Model Design for tracking of Billets from Furnace charging to Finish product,
calculation of the rolled pass tonnage of each stands and track the life of Rolls used
in the rolling. Developed HMI’s for process visualisation and upload production
and consumption report to SAP (Level 3). (Languages used: C#.Net and Oracle).
• Commissioning of Weighing Bridge System for Merchant Mill.
- Configuration, Installation and Calibration of Process Controller with Load Cell for
receiving the weight of finishing product of Rebar Bundle and New interface
application has been developed to receive the weight from Process Controller to
HMI and generate the Bundle Id. ( Languages used: C#.NET and My Sql).
• Development of Online Finish Rolling Temperature Monitoring System of rebar
Mill
- FRT monitoring system helped operator for better decision making to take
corrective action to maintain FRT to achieve the Yield Strength of Quality
Parameter of all grades of steel within specification limit. (Languages used:
C#.NET and Oracle).
• Eliminate powered slitter cobble and improve product quality of rebar mill.
- Standardizing the running life of powered slitter and side guide. Assistance to
operator for better decision to change the power slitter disc and side guide of each
stand. (Languages used: C#.NET and Oracle).
