Accomplishments
• Magnescale configuration was done to receive quadrature pulse from the
controller for the HGC cylinder positions.
• HGC cylinders were tuned to work in average and differential control with a
ramp rate of 12 mm/s.
• Dual circuit cylinders for bending were tuned to work in force control mode.
• Shifting cylinders are tuned to work in automatic mode as per set-up.
• Screw motors position control was commissioned using square-root position
control.

Accomplishments
• Independently derived the calculation of technological data (Mechanical data)
required for the calculation of Shear trajectory and synchronization of the
shear speed with material speed which is critical for accurate cutting of the
strip head and tail.
• Drive communication and data exchange finalization was performed.
• Finishing Mill entry speed was calibrated to correct for backward.
• Tuning parameters were adjusted to compensate for drive inertia before and
after acceleration.
• Successful commissioning of two line-scanning cameras used for profile
generation of strip-head and strip-tail which is used to decide the optimized
cut-length for head and tail.

Automation of Cold Reversing Mill (THAICHIN).
Time Frame: June 2013 – Aug 2013.
Hardware Platform: Siemens PLC-CPU 416-3DP for CRM auxiliary system and coil
loading/unloading, MVME 6100 controllers for HGC system and Speed-Master.
Connection between VME & PLC is through DP-DP coupler. Connection between
the HGC system controller and SPM is through the back-plane. Operator Stations in
the Ethernet network communicating with the PLC and VME over TCP/IP protocol.
Software Platform: Siemens Step-7 V5.5 SP3, SCADA-COPADATA Zenon V7.0,
CoDeSys Version 2.3.9.22 for VME application software.

• Independently developed the software for Mill auxiliary system following the
reference model given for the project.
• Coil tracking software was developed in SCL with interface with Level-2 for
coil identification and tracking data update.

Tension regulation.
• HGC system sequences for Mill zeroing, Mill stretch calculation and its
