• Establishment of the entire network.
• Commissioning of all the roller-table drives and Main-drives.
• Tuning of the side-guides was done.
• Stand#3 and Stand#4 were independently commissioned including edgers and
screw-down motors.
• Load-balancing of main motors was commissioned.
• Minimum tension control, for the edger motors were commissioned.
• Interface with Finishing Mill L1 automation tested.
• Gauge meter control was commissioned with corrections added to the HGC
position on the basis of error in force.
• Successful rolling with Level-2 setup done.

Finishing mill HAGC Control/ ACC and Hot-Plate Leveler at New Plate-mill
(SAIL-RSP).
Time Frame: Mar 2014 – Dec 2014.
Hardware Platform: Danieli HiPaC controller (VME)- MVME 7100. Communication
interface over Ethernet with Tracking and Speed master PLC (GE/Converteam
controllers) using EGD communication.
Software Platform: CoDeSys Version 2.3.9.42 for VME application software.

Accomplishments
• Magnescale configuration was done to receive quadrature pulse from the
controller for the HGC cylinder positions.
• HGC cylinders were tuned to work in average and differential control with a
ramp rate of 12 mm/s.
• Dual circuit cylinders for bending were tuned to work in force control mode.
• Shifting cylinders are tuned to work in automatic mode as per set-up.
• Screw motors position control was commissioned using square-root position
control.

• Independent Force control for the HGC cylinders was commissioned for the
zeroing sequence.
• Stretch was calculated for a force of 45,000 kN. Maximum mill force is
90,000 kN.
• Gauge meter control was commissioned with corrections added to the HGC
position on the basis of error in force.
• Successful rolling with Level-2 setup done.

Crop Shear Optimization for HSM-Finishing Mill (BSL).
Time Frame: Sep 2013 – Dec 2013.
Hardware Platform: Danieli HiPaC- MVME 6100 controller. Operator Stations in the
Ethernet network communicating with the VME over TCP/IP through OPC.
Software Platform: CoDeSys Version 2.3.9.37 for VME application software,
SCADA- Intouch 10.5.
Role: Commissioning Lead No. of Team Members: 2
Accomplishments
• Independently derived the calculation of technological data (Mechanical data)
required for the calculation of Shear trajectory and synchronization of the
shear speed with material speed which is critical for accurate cutting of the
strip head and tail.
• Drive communication and data exchange finalization was performed.
• Finishing Mill entry speed was calibrated to correct for backward.
• Tuning parameters were adjusted to compensate for drive inertia before and
after acceleration.
• Successful commissioning of two line-scanning cameras used for profile
generation of strip-head and strip-tail which is used to decide the optimized
cut-length for head and tail.
FAT is successfully completed.

Automation of Cold Reversing Mill (THAICHIN).
Time Frame: June 2013 – Aug 2013.
Hardware Platform: Siemens PLC-CPU 416-3DP for CRM auxiliary system and coil
loading/unloading, MVME 6100 controllers for HGC system and Speed-Master.
Connection between VME & PLC is through DP-DP coupler. Connection between
the HGC system controller and SPM is through the back-plane. Operator Stations in
the Ethernet network communicating with the PLC and VME over TCP/IP protocol.
Software Platform: Siemens Step-7 V5.5 SP3, SCADA-COPADATA Zenon V7.0,
CoDeSys Version 2.3.9.22 for VME application software.
Role: Senior Project Engineer No. of Team Members: 3
Accomplishments
• Independently developed the software for Mill auxiliary system following the
reference model given for the project.
• Coil tracking software was developed in SCL with interface with Level-2 for
coil identification and tracking data update.
• Extensively, followed the CoDeSys software for Speed- Master grasping
deeper understanding of all the technological blocks used for Speed &
Tension regulation.
• HGC system sequences for Mill zeroing, Mill stretch calculation and its
correction in mill force are thoroughly tested.
FAT is successfully completed.
Commissioning is due in 2015.
Automation of Push-Pull Pickling Line (THAICHIN).
Time Frame: June 2013 – Aug 2013.
Hardware Platform: Siemens PLC-CPU 416-3DP for Line and Pickling PLC.
Connection between the two PLCs is through S7 connection over Ethernet. Software
Platform: Siemens Step-7 V5.5 SP3, SCADA-COPADATA Zenon V7.0. Connection
with Level 2 is over Ethernet with TCP native connection.

• Independently developed the software for Line control (Speed Master and
Tension Control) following the reference model given for the project.
• Coil & Line tracking software was developed in SCL with interface with
Level-2 for coil identification, machine set-up and production data.
• Developed a model for the interface with drives with external torque
compensation for the tension mode operation of Pay-off reel and the Tension
reel.
• Derived the calculation of strip head position correction required for the
accumulator in line.
FAT is successfully completed.
Commissioning is due in 2015.
Automation of Bar Finishing Area (SAIL-BHILAI).
Time Frame: Nov 2011 – Mar 2012.
Platform: Siemens Step-7 V5.4, SCADA-INTOUCH WONDERWARE , PLC-CPU
414-3DP with MPI connection between Mill-area main PLC, Bar cutting area PLC,
Wire & Rod-mill auxiliary PLC, and Bar-counting PLC; backplane communication
over S7 connection between Bar cutting area PLC & Layer Forming area PLC.
Operator Stations in the Ethernet network communicating with the PLCs over TCP/IP
protocol through Ethernet CPs.

Accomplishments
• Software Development of the project is complete.
• S7 connection between the two CPUs in multi-computing architecture was not
there in the original network drawing, which was corrected by the developer
himself.
FAT is successfully completed.

Automation of Iron Ore Washing Plant (NISCO-IRAN).
Time Frame: Aug 2010 – Present.
Platform: Siemens Step-7 V5.4, SCADA-WINCC V6.2 , PLC-CPU 414-3DP with
MPI connection between Mill-area main PLC, Filtration area main PLC, Tailing PLC,
Stockpile PLC, WTP PLC and Crusher PLC, with four standalone Operator Stations
in the Ethernet network communicating with the PLCs over TCP/IP protocol through
Ethernet CPs.
Role: Project Engineer No. of Team Members: 5
Accomplishments
• Establishment of the profibus network and profibus-DP master/slave
communication with the vendor PLCs for AG-mill, Ball-mill, and Filter Press
etc.
• Communication with Synamics-S120 and Micromaster MM430 drives over
profibus and finalization of the control logic.
• Interfacing of the Belt scale controllers with the profibus network using Any-
bus converters, establishing communication and commissioning of the belt
scale.
• Commissioning of all the PID loops for the pump box, and the feed-rate
control to the AG-mill.
Site Commissioned.
Up gradation of old Step-5 (Siemens) PLC system to Step-7, H-system, and
redesign of the Software for Blast Furnace Charging System & Stoves (DSP-
Durgapur).
Time Frame: July 2008 – May 2009.
Platform: Siemens Step-7 V5.4, SCADA-WINCC V6.2 with AS-OS Engineering,
PLC-H-system (CPU 414-4H) with redundant network connection between Stock-
house PLC, Furnace PLC & Stove PLC with four standalone Operator Stations in the
network.

Design & develop Software application of the Stock house, Furnace-Top charging,
and Cooling circuit and its commissioning.
Accomplishments
• Commissioning of the PCS7 system with ES/OS engineering.
• Split range Controller application used to control pressure of the cooling
circuit accumulator.
• Proportional control logic used for the control of “Material Flow Gate” with
the position feedback through Grey Code Encoder.
• Stock-rod calibration with Grey Code Encoder.
• Communication between Siemens PLC and Honeywell PLC through OPC.

Role: Commissioning Engineer No. of Team Members: 3 Accomplishments • Magnescale configuration was done to receive quadrature pulse from the controller for the HGC cylinder positions. • HGC cylinders were tuned to work in average and differential control with a ramp rate of 12 mm/s. • Dual circuit cylinders for bending were tuned to work in force control mode. • Shifting cylinders are tuned to work in automatic mode as per set-up. • Screw motors position control was commissioned using square-root position control.

Software Platform: CoDeSys Version 2.3.9.37 for VME application software, SCADA- Intouch 10.5. Role: Commissioning Lead No. of Team Members: 2 Accomplishments • Independently derived the calculation of technological data (Mechanical data) required for the calculation of Shear trajectory and synchronization of the shear speed with material speed which is critical for accurate cutting of the strip head and tail. • Drive communication and data exchange finalization was performed. • Finishing Mill entry speed was calibrated to correct for backward. • Tuning parameters were adjusted to compensate for drive inertia before and after acceleration. • Successful commissioning of two line-scanning cameras used for profile generation of strip-head and strip-tail which is used to decide the optimized cut-length for head and tail. Role: Senior Project Engineer No. of Team Members: 3 Accomplishments • Independently developed the software for Mill auxiliary system following the reference model given for the project. • Coil tracking software was developed in SCL with interface with Level-2 for coil identification and tracking data update. • Extensively, followed the CoDeSys software for Speed- Master grasping deeper understanding of all the technological blocks used for Speed & Tension regulation. • HGC system sequences for Mill zeroing, Mill stretch calculation and its correction in mill force are thoroughly tested. FAT is successfully completed. Commissioning is due in 2015. Automation of Push-Pull Pickling Line (THAICHIN). Time Frame: June 2013 – Aug 2013. Hardware Platform: Siemens PLC-CPU 416-3DP for Line and Pickling PLC. Connection between the two PLCs is through S7 connection over Ethernet. Software Platform: Siemens Step-7 V5.5 SP3, SCADA-COPADATA Zenon V7.0. Connection with Level 2 is over Ethernet with TCP native connection.
