3. What is Causative Verb?
It is certain verbs in English sentence that indicates someone to do
something.
(Kata kerja yang digunakan untuk meminta orang lain mengerjakan sesuatu
untuk kita (speaker))
4. Which one is Causative Verb?
• Sentence 1: I paint my nails red
• Sentence 2 : My sister paints my nails red
• Sentence 3 : I have my sister painted my nails red
Explanation
• Sentence 1: The person/speaker does the ‘action’ painting nails
by herself (si pembicara melakukan Tindakan sendiri)
• Sentence 2: Someone else does the ‘action’ sincerely without
getting asked (melakukan tindakan tanpa diminta)
• Sentence 3: The person/speaker ask someone else to do the
‘action’ with force (meminta orang lain melakukan tindakan
dengan memaksa)

So, if that’s so, what is the difference between Imperative Sentence and Causative Verb?
Imperative Sentence
Paint my nail red.
Causative Verb
I have my sister paint my nail red
Both are ‘command’ sentence. The only difference is in imperative sentence it point to
the object pronoun directly, meanwhile causative verb is not directly pointed, but
mention the person name.
(imperative sentence menunjuk kepada objek/orangnya secara langsung sementara
causative verb hanya menyebutkan nama orangnya”

Causative verb is used to make people assume that
"X" forces "Y" to do something.
I have my sister painted my nail
Subjek ‘I’ sebagai “X” memaksa Objek ‘my sister’ sebagai “Y”
untuk memberikan tindakan mewarnai kuku si X.
Tetapi dalam beberapa situasi/kalimat, objek tidak tertera
jika speaker adalah orang/pihak ke 3.
‘They have their house painted’
SUBJECT + HAVE + PERSON + PARTICIPLE (Verb 3)
