2. What is a coming of age film?
 Genre of film that focuses on the growth of a protagonist from youth to
adulthood.
 Personal growth and change is an important characteristic of this genre.
 The main characters in the film are usually between the ages of 14 and 19.

3. Theme
 For a coming of age film multiple storylines can be considered such as
relationships, virginity, drugs, pregnancy and friendships.
 The films are all about encouragement and experimenting; this creates an
effective film as the audience will be able to relate to the storyline or
character.

4. Audience
 A coming of age film is normally targeted at a teenage audience as they
can relate to the characters.
 However they can also include explicit and controversial themes which
can raise the age rating to 18 which would draw in older audiences.
 Some coming of age films can be targeted at a younger audience if the
storyline focuses on softer issues.
