About me
I am currently a student at Georgian College in Barrie and will be graduating with honors next
spring with a three-year interior design advanced diploma. I'm very interested in applying my
creativity, AutoCAD knowledge, and social media skills to an impressive company.
My interest in interior design and sustainable design led me to pursue my interior design schooling,
which has given me the opportunity to learn how to conduct design research, analyze finish
selections from top leaders in the market, and produce multiple design plans in short spans of time.
I enjoy working on team projects and often naturally fall into the project manager role because I
have a strong capacity for allocating resources, multi-tasking and managing projects under tight
semester deadlines.
The amount of AutoCAD knowledge that comes with the 3-year program offered at Georgian
College, in Barrie, helps make designing interiors much easier and helps make the process of the
drawings go by faster and more efficiently. This means deadlines are met on time and without stress
and done with attention to detail. Page set-up and organization skills are something that is
focused on in the design program at Georgian. This helps with multitasking and staying focused on
design features and details instead of seeing an unorganized page and having trouble working
with the project.
I am confident that my creativity, interest in design research and passion for interior design will
make a real difference. Gaining valuable experience in the design world is great and has
continually been an ever-changing experience.

In Perfect Focus
Design Intent:
This logo is designed to show potential customers what the retail location
is all about and the merchandise held within. That merchandise would be cameras.
Cameras are the main focus within the store, they are the spotlight item sold in the
store. The logo represents a camera in itself. Its a modern camera look in black
with curved lines to add a calmness to the image. The camera uses the rule of thirds
to make the image more appealing to the eye. The larger lense located near the
center of the logo helps to balance the image and keep everything centered. This
helps the eye to focus on the image and not just pass by. The black camera pops out
off of the purple background catching individuals eyes as they walk by. The two
accent colours chosen are to keep the calm and natural feel of the location. The lighter
tones of colours help to make the rustic atmosphere of the store standout a little
more. The rustic feel is to help divert with how technology can be overwhelming
and the contrast between the modern merchandise and the rustic atmosphere
help to relax costumers. The client wants the store to feel as relaxed as possible
so that the hassle of buying a camera and being overwhelmed can be reduced and
popularity of the store to increase.
List Of Materials:

Camera Retail Store Design
The store is to be an open concept layout with a half wall to have a little
corner office for the client to do her work, or possibly a back room where
work can be done and prints can be made and images/supplies can be stored
away. Clients will feel comfortable within the space and hope to return. With
the amount of merchandise available the customers may become overwhelmed
and the open concept look/feel is supposed to take away from the clutter feel
and help students to find what they want quickly and easily so they can
continue their creativity.

Ice Cream Shop Finishes Board
The design concept for the Ice cream retail store is a fresh and calm space, with light colours
and soft colours as well as bold accents to create a nice contrast in materials. The use of wood
will warm the space, and the colour adds character to the overall feel. The chalkboard wall
accents are great for interaction between the store and the customers that will be mainly
focused on, which are young adults. This location will provide a safe and fun hang out
location for adolescent students. The clients, Sean and Sam, are looking for an open space that
is distinctive to the fresh products and citrus flavours they will be selling at their ice cream
shop. With the want to attract youth and hoping for a main “hang out” location, the warm and
welcoming, open concept, atmosphere of the location will allow for coverage of all aspects
and needs. The colours chosen reflect the product being sold and help again make the space feel
comfortable and a nice place to be around.
With the great climb in sustainable products, the use of recycled products can be a great feature
in the store. This can attract more clientele and increase the income and popularity of the
space. This is covered by the use of recycled plastic to form the chairs within the space and the
use of reclaimed wood for table tops and the front service desk. Having great displays in the
space are also a great feature, the store is selling not only ice cream and gelato, but also
waffles with fresh fruit. Having the displays and make it yourself counter will also create a
popular location, especially for the clientele wanted in this location.
A rustic approach was used for this location and yet a modern feel is added. Having the two
different feels within one location almost make for a great space for different aged persons to
want to be. Having a fun, warm, inviting space is what Sean and Sam were looking for and the
added interest with certain features will bring in the age group they are looking to bring into
their store.

developing a design concept is the most “fun” part of designing. this is where your imagination
can run free and you can come up with new and creative ideas.
