You are to design a dental office layout for a medical office complex. The size of the
office is approximately 3,028 square feet. You must retain all the interior structural col-
umns and you are to use the existing window wall in the space. You will apply local codes
to the design layout. The project should pay attention to sustainable options when pos-
sible. There should be 2 exits from the space and they can be located on any portion of
the dental suite interior hallway wall. Plumbing will be supplied from plumbing columns
in the structure and ganging of plumbing should be done whenever possible. The space
should provide for ADA accessibility. The design should also show an innovative solution
to the needs of the dentist and the staff.

Root DentalE.G.R.H Dental Suite
For the design of the Roots Dental Office Suite it was important to create a space
that was both comfortable and flexible for the clients and the employees. The
design focus was on the aesthetics, codes, environmental and human factors. The
open concept of the spatial layout provided flexibility in movement throughout the
space while also providing privacy as needed. Each exam room was positioned in
order to bring the outside in and provide natural lighting for the environment. The
use of geometric shapes and pops of color were used to create interest and vari-
ety in the space. Several fabric and finishes used in the space are environmentally
friendly and anti-microbial while meeting other code requirements. The overall
design resulted in a fresh crisp look that meets the needs of the client.

The company currently has 162 full time employees (including interns) in their San Diego office.
An important functional goal is a corporate culture based on teamwork. The new space must en-
hance teamwork opportunities. They need informal teaming areas to encourage interaction and
just be an alternate setting for the very high-powered work that the people do there. The client
has requested an emphasis on environment friendly materials throughout the space. They have
an emphasis on green and healthy work space.
Apple’s goal for this project is to incorporate a work area that is based on teamwork and commu-
nication. Glass walls are very sought after in this design for maximum scenery and the ability for
employees to see things taking place wherever on a daily basis. Aside from the workplace neces-
sities, Apple wants each area to feel unique and welcoming to collaboration as much as possible.
7. Office Concept statement
This office design derives its inspiration from the Apple photo icon. The icon portrays a variety of hues that create harmony around a central entry
point. Using this same technique, we want our office space to create a unified work environment that encourages teamwork and collaboration.
Ergonomic design will aid in the function and use of the space for employees. The importance of emphasizing green design in both visual and
conceptual methods is stressed in materials, finishes, and furnishings.Through the use of transparent divisions, privacy is provided while visually
obtaining an open concept. Incorporating high-tech and innovative work spaces with seamless organizational features will create a clean, sleek
appearance.

Using the Apple icon as my
inspiration I incorporated the
colors throughout the space
and especially through the
task chairs selections.
In areas where collaboration
would take place, I wanted to
create spaces that not only inspire
but also encourage team work.
In both the formal and informal
meeting areas I combined colors
and materials from all around the
office space to display a visual rep-
resentation of this.

Using this same technique, Stratum’s interior will elude to the painting by layer-
ing design elements in the restaurant that progress from the ground level up to
the ceiling. Variety through abstract shapes/forms, contrasting hues, and diago-
nal lines create surprise elements and visually connect the volume of space with
unity provided by the repetition of color. Elements on the ground will be subtle
and muted and as the eye progresses upward, guests will experience the visual
intensity growing.

Inspired by the individual parts of a salad, this carpet design shows a
combination of shapes being tossed in with one another. The design
should reflect the abstract use of both organic and geometric shapes
interlocking to create depth within the space. The different layering
of forms will work together as a whole to create texture and dimen-
sion. Bursts of contrasting red against different hues of green create
an interesting color palette. Individual shapes come together to cre-
ate the perfect combination of harmony and balance as a whole.

a historical island in Savannah, will be renovated
to provide open spaces for entertainment and cozy
spaces for relaxation. An abundance of windows
expands the space, while inviting nature and sun-
light to warm and energize the space. The home is
filled with convenient, safe and accessible features
to support the clients as they enjoy the late years
in life. The rooms have colorful antique pieces,
with natural floral patterns, and neutral walls
to give the rooms a exciting impression and help
bring the nature of the outside, in.
