Project Description
Chloe will live and work in this renovated 1963 Palm
Springs, CA home. She collects mid-century furniture
and artwork and wants all design features to reflect
the modern period of the home’s original construction.
While she prefers clean lines and polished surfaces,
she has a strong commitment to the use of sustainable
materials. Bamboo will be used throughout her home
to achieve this goal. All of the appliances will be energy
saving as well. She prefers an open plan approach to
shared areas that embrace the original features of the
home.

GENERAL NOTES
Lighting Design
Animal Clinic
Project Description
The goal of this project was to create
an ELP and an RCP. I researched the best
types of lighting for the space and planned
accordingly. I was required to complete a
specific space in this animal clinic.
Concept Statement
This space is intended to keep
animals and their owners at ease
through neutral finishes, warm and
high tech lighting. The space will be
equipped to provide ease of use for
doctors and techs through
accessibility and proper task
lighting. As a whole, it will invoke a
calm feeling and comfortability for
everyone who visits the clinic.

Custom Luminaire
Lighting Design
Custom Luminaire
Project Description
The requirements of this project were to select an Art and Design
movement/era. I chose minimalism. This individual project is designed to
have the designer apply all knowledge learned about lamp sources,
luminaries and corresponding components, methods and effects of
illumination, human needs, psychological and physiological aspects of
lighting, energy issues and efficacy as they are influenced by luminance
design to design a custom luminaire (e.g. light fixture) prototype.
Concept Statement
The idea behind “Framed” was to show to the most basic
structure of a building. The structure of the light itself minimally
represents a building. The light is central in the fixture to
create dramatic shadows through the symmetrical design. The
reclaimed materials were used to help give interest to the piece.
I chose to break down the simple basics of a building.
• the base represents the foundation
• the verticle pieces represent the structure
• the top represents the roof

Seating Experience
Concept Statement
The idea was to make an ergonomic experience; a
form that fits to the body. I began thinking of human
contour and what objects communicate that. The shape
that came to mind was potato chips. The shape was
elongated in the final design to make a full lounge
position. It was also necessary to have storage space and
resting space for food/beverages.
Project Description
The purpose of this assignment was to make a
seating experience for all five senses (vision, hearing,
touch, smell, and taste). A prototype was to be built to
communicate the goals of the seat.
• Vision: Subject would view a warm fire or nice view out of a window
• Hearing: Subject would hear the crackling of the fire
• Touch: Subject would touch the chair itself and possibly a warm
blanket that would be stored in the back of the chair
• Smell: Subject would smell the burning fire or a nice cup
of hot chocolate
• Taste: Subject would taste their warm drink
Senses
Concept Statement
The intent behind this design is to find an easier way for Occupational Therapists
help children. Posture is the most important part of every exercise the therapists
teach the kids. My idea was to make a stool to help children’s posture so they could
focus on their exercises.
Project Description
The project was intended to build a stool with dimensions of 18” W x 18” D x 18” L.
The backing had to be low, if any. The designer is intended to think about ergonomics
when designing the stool.
Features
• Supports posture
• Pitched back & seat for posture & positioning
• Lumbar pillow
• Armrest inserts for different sized patients
• Pull-out foot rest
• Full padding for protection
• Easy to clean fabric

TeachYourselfSomethingKnew
Project Description
The purpose of this project was to work with art
in a way that the student never has. The goal was
to teach yourself a new skill in the art and design
world.
Concept Statement
I have some experience in oil painting but, I have never mixed
my own paints from natural minerals. To add more of a challenge
to this project, I tried to be as sustainable as I could. I painted on 3”
x 12” bamboo leaves and the basket is made of 100% sustainable
material. The purpose of the basket is to make plain air painting
easier by keeping every material in one container.
Project Description
The purpose of this project was to work with a
group to create an outfit in accordance to an element
on the periodic table. No fabric could be used and the
outfit had to communicate the functions/appearance
of the element. The students then had to preform in a
fashion show put on by UW- Stout.
Concept Statement
Lithium is a strong element. It is used in the
coloring of fireworks and for mental health
medication for bipolar and depression. It is a shiney,
silver metal. The outfit shows all the jagged edges of
a metal and explosive tendancies of a firework. The
asymetrical body suit represents mental health in
that it is unpredictable like this shape.
