3. Our Input
As our initial input was the bug idea, we
shall be keeping that as our main
basis, storyline, character and purpose.
Thinking about how bugs could be
incorporated into this sci-fi, futuristic race
idea, we have brain stormed other types of
futuristic films i.e. Star Wars to help us
imagine an initial picture of how our
sequence can look and then also
brainstormed the idea of bugs, taking some
inspiration from the bugs in Wreck-It-Ralph.
4. Bug Designs
Moving away from the idea of
bugs actually looking like small
bugs, normal everyday bugs, we
would like them to look more
menacing and destructive. One
way we can do this is by
incorporating the human form into
the bug design.
Still keeping with the bug like
movements, creeping, crawling,
erratic movements. The
connotations of a big being slimy,
scary, dry and crispy, big head,
intimidating, multiple features,
uncanny features.
5. The abilities of
the characters.
-Wings/flying
-Weapons
-Static charge
-Shield
-Can release a scent for communication between species
-Queen is power source
-Can move at high speed
7. Environment
For the environment, one idea was to go along the
lines of The Jetsons or Cloud atlas, where the buildings are
very high and everyone travels around in the sky, but in
Cloud Atlas, the further up you go, the classier the buildings
and the people are.
Our characters, the bugs, would be the runts of the
pack, living right at the very bottom in the ‘slums’ of this
futuristic world.
If this is the case, the environment would be very
dirty, dusty and practically falling apart. The bugs would only
venture into the futuristic, cleanliness section when their
territory has been trespassed and they are only defending
their corner.
