Parent Involvement
After-Care
Solution: Develop one solid curriculum for each
age group within the program
Benefits: Students will learn better with
reinforcement of the material throughout the
month and will not get bored with the content,
staff will be able to easily prepare for each
week’s lessons
Program
Content
Solution: Use Character Counts and Social-
Emotional Learning as the foundation for our
program
Benefits: We will be able to reach children
before they develop negative behaviors and will
focus on the prevention rather than treatment
of behaviors
Program
Content
Solution: Create a new class for students ages 5
and 6 (or kindergartners and first graders) called
“PACE Jr.” that runs twice a week from 3:30-6:00
pm
Benefits: Parents will be more likely to enroll
their younger children and we will maximize the
number of children we reach per year
Program
Content
Solution: Shorten the length of the program to
6 months
Benefits: Higher success/graduation rates,
improved parent buy-in
Program
Length
Solution: Add a screening step to our intake
process to help parents place their child in the
appropriate program
Benefits: Children will be placed where they fit
best and our graduation rates may improve
We will always help parents find the best
program for their family! Intake
Process
Solution: Provide parents with a parent
orientation packet during the intake that
includes FAQs, tips and ideas for getting the
most out of their ACE/PACE experience
Benefits: Students will not miss out on valuable
learning opportunities and our
graduation/success rates may improve
Intake
Process
Solution 1: Visit schools during in-service days
to give a presentation to teachers, counselors,
and administrators about our program
Solution 2: Offer our services as guest speakers
and run fun sample programs at the schools to
get kids excited about our program
Cont’d on next slide Program

Solution 3: Distribute new flyers and brochures
about our program throughout the community,
including in offices of pediatricians, counselors,
etc. throughout the community
Benefits: Increased enrollment in our program,
the community will better understand our
program and its goals Program
Advertisement
Solution: Provide a 30-minute parent class once
a month that introduces what we will be
working on with their children that month
Benefits: Parents will be empowered to
reinforce positive changes at home which will
lead to greater success for our students
Parent
Involvement
Solution: Allow graduating students to return
for a month to “refresh” their knowledge of a
particular subject
Benefits: We can be a powerful support system
for parents once their child graduates and
continue to keep our former students on the
right track
After-Care
Present our program in a more professional and
positive light within the community
Improve success rates with our students and
increase our graduation rates
Allow us to increase the number of children we
reach each year
Strengthen our relationships with families, thus
giving our program more power through “word
of mouth”
Thank you for your time!
