QSE Intra-Day Movement
Qatar Commentary
The QSE Index declined 1.4% to close at 11,610.2. Losses were led by the Real Estate and
Industrials indices, falling 2.3% and 1.9%, respectively. Top losers were Qatar German
Co. for Medical Devices and Gulf International Services, falling 4.1% and 3.6%,
respectively. Among the top gainers Ahli Bank rose 2.6%, while Medicare Group was up
1.8%.
GCC Commentary
Saudi Arabia: The TASI Index rose 0.5% to close at 8,699.2. Gains were led by the
Agriculture & Food Ind. and Insurance indices, rising 1.9% and 1.8%, respectively.
Saudi Cable rose 6.5%, while Al Alamiya for Cooperative Ins. was up 5.9%.
Dubai: The DFM Index declined 0.6% to close at 4,098.5. The Services index fell 1.3%,
while the Real Estate & Construction index declined 1.0%. Dubai Islamic Insurance &
Reinsurance Co. fell 2.7%, while Emaar Malls Group was down 1.9%.
Abu Dhabi: The ADX benchmark index fell 0.5% to close at 4,809.0. The Consumer index
declined 1.8%, while the Real Estate index fell 1.2%. Emirates Driving Co. declined
8.3%, while Abu Dhabi National Co. for B and M was down 6.3%.
Kuwait: The KSE Index rose 0.4% to close at 6,271.5. The Telecommunication index
gained 1.4%, while the Oil & Gas index rose 1.3%. Human Soft Holding Co. gained 9.1%,
while National Mobile Telecommunications Co. was up 8.3%.
Oman: The MSM Index fell 0.3% to close at 6,407.9. Losses were led by the Financial
and Industrial indices, falling 1.0% and 0.3%, respectively. Renaissance Services fell
5.6%, while Al Sharqia Investment Holding was down 5.4%.
Bahrain: The BHB Index gained marginally to close at 1,333.2. The Services index rose
0.2%, while the other indices ended flat or in red. Bahrain Duty Free Complex was up
1.8%.

Qatar Market Commentary
 The QSE Index declined 1.4% to close at 11,610.2. The Real Estate and
Industrials indices led the losses. The index fell on the back of selling
pressure from Qatari and non-Qatari shareholders despite buying support
from GCC shareholders.
 Qatar German Co. for Medical Devices and Gulf International Services were
the top losers, falling 4.1% and 3.6%, respectively. Among the top gainers
Ahli Bank rose 2.6%, while Medicare Group was up 1.8%.
 Volume of shares traded on Sunday rose by 29.5% to 3.5mn from 2.7mn on
Thursday. However, as compared to the 30-day moving average of 4.3mn,
volume for the day was 19.3% lower. Barwa Real Estate Co. and Masraf Al
Rayan were the most active stocks, contributing 16.5% and 16.3% to the
total volume, respectively.

 MERS posts higher QoQ bottom-line in 2Q2015 – Al Meera
Consumer Goods Company’s (MERS) net profit increased 34.1%
QoQ (-21.5% YoY) to QR57.8mn in 2Q2015. The quarterly gain in
net profit was primarily aided by higher revenue, up 16.9% QoQ
(+14.5% YoY) to QR659.3mn. On the other hand, earnings
dropped YoY as other income declined by 90.8% from QR41.6mn
in 2Q2014 to QR3.8mn. It should be noted that 2Q2014 other
income was significantly boosted by non-recurring investment
income. Excluding other income, net income was up by 69% YoY.

 ORDS launches biggest network upgrade in Qatar – Ooredoo
(ORDS) is introducing three-band carrier aggregation as part of
the SuperNet upgrade. As part of the SuperNet upgrade, ORDS said
it is introducing three-band carrier aggregation, building on its
position of being the first and only company to combine 20+10
MHz bands on its 4G+ network. The network upgrade would
enable the telecom company reach maximum top speeds and offer
customers faster on-average Internet speeds. The ambitious
project is touted as the biggest network upgrade in Qatar’s history.

 VFQS first to achieve 375Mbps network speed – Vodafone (VFQS)
has said that it is the first telecom operator in Qatar, and one of the
first in the world, to have a top speed of up to 375Mbps live on its
network. This was achieved after it tested and rolled out 3-Band
LTE Carrier Aggregation across its sites at the Doha Corniche and
Qatar Science & Technology Park, with other sites across Doha to
be progressively ready by November 2015. The 3 Carrier
Aggregation rollout will cover additional sites in key locations such
as West Bay, Katara, The Pearl-Qatar and others. (Gulf-Times.com)
 Aiana hotel group to start operations in early 2016 – The Aiana
Hotels & Resorts will open its first property in Qatar by 2Q2016.

Nair said a serviced apartment with 180 units of different sizes
will be opened within nine to 10 months in West Bay. A joint
venture agreement had been signed with HE Sheikh Faisal bin

Association, in March 2015 to create Aiana Hotels & Resorts. (Gulf-

 Online salary payments from August 18 – Qatar will launch the
much-awaited Wage Protection System (WPS) on August 18, 2015
whereby all private sector workers will be paid salaries online
through banking channels. An extensive database of all workers as
part of WPS is ready with the Ministry of Labor & Social Affairs,
which has been prepared in cooperation with Qatar Central Bank
(QCB) and the Ministry of Interior. Several banking and financial
institutions are taking part in WPS being implemented by the labor
ministry in coordination with QCB. The supervisory authority is
the ministry, which has set up a separate inspection unit to
monitor WPS. Companies that fail to comply with the WPS will be

 MDPS: 393 building permits issued in July – According to the
statistics released by the Ministry of Development, Planning &
Statistics (MDPS), the number of building permits issued in July
2015 by all municipalities were around 393. They included
commercial and residential premises, of which the Al Rayan
Municipality issued 117 permits and the Doha Municipality issued

 QInvest net profit jumps 86% to QR88.7mn in 1H2015 – QInvest
has reported a strong growth across the board, ending 1H2015
with revenues up by 40% YoY and net profit increasing by 86%
YoY. The investment bank’s revenue for 1H2015 increased 40% to
QR195.6mn, compared to QR139mn recorded in 1H2014. The net
profit for the same period saw an 86% growth to QR88.7mn from
QR47.6mn. (Gulf-Times.com)

 Greece expects bailout talks to conclude by Tuesday – According to
a Greek official, Greece hopes to conclude negotiations with its
international creditors by early Tuesday at the latest as talks
continued in Athens on a new multi-billion euro bailout designed
to keep the country from financial ruin. Greece’s finance and
economy ministers were locked in negotiations with
representatives of the creditors on Sunday, which stretched till
early hours of Monday. Greek officials had previously said they
expected the bailout accord to go to the country’s parliament for
approval by August 18. Athens is negotiating with the European
Union institutions and the International Monetary Fund for up to
€86bn in fresh loans to stave off economic collapse and stay in the
Eurozone. The bailout must be in place by August 20 when Greece
has a repayment falling due to the European Central Bank.

 China PPI fall adds to case for more stimulus – According to the
National Bureau of Statistics, China’s producer-price index (PPI)
fell by 5.4% YoY in July, the biggest decline since October 2009.
The data indicate weak demand for Chinese factory products, both
at home and abroad, and suggest that interest-rate cuts and efforts
to stabilize local government finances have yet to spark a recovery.
Factory-gate prices of excavated oil & natural gas dropped by
34.6% in July while those of ferrous metal fell by 20.1%. Non-food
consumer prices rose by 1.1% YoY in July, down from 1.2% in
June. Overall the consumer-price index increased by 1.6% from the
year-earlier period. The steepest decline in PPI in almost six years
and an unexpectedly large drop in exports in July mount pressure
on Chinese policy-makers to support growth. (Bloomberg)

 Frost & Sullivan: Growing challenges in GCC logistics market
provide huge scope for automation – According to a survey
conducted by analysts at Frost & Sullivan, the growing challenges
in the GCC logistics market is presenting huge scope for
automation in the region’s materials handling industry, while the
current levels of mechanization within the sector is relatively low.
The survey indicated that there is strong intent to adopt
automation in warehousing and transportation to improve
operational efficiency and processes. As per the survey, forklifts
are the most popular forms of mechanization in the GCC logistics
industry, with 37% of respondents indicating they use this
equipment, followed by coding & labeling devices (34% of
respondents) and warehouse trucks (26% of respondents).
However, the overall opinion within the GCC logistics market is
that the level of penetration of automation is low. (GulfBase.com)
 Hail Cement BoD recommends 6% dividend for 1H2015 – Hail
Cement Company’s board of directors has recommended
distribution of 6% dividend (SR0.6 per share), amounting to
SR58.74mn for 1H2015. Shareholders registered in the registers of
the Securities Depository Center (Tadawul) on August 13, 2015,
will be eligible to receive the dividend. The dividend will be

 Tadawul adds rights, new shares and Sukuk to investors’ portfolios
– The Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) has announced that Alinma
Tokio Marine Company’s rights have been deposited into
applicable investors’ portfolios at the close of trading on August 4,
2015. Tadawul has added Salama Cooperative Insurance
Company’s new shares and National Shipping Company of Saudi
Arabia’s Sukuk into their applicable investors’ portfolios on August

 Sahara Petrochemical discloses use of rights issue proceeds –
Sahara Petrochemical Company has announced the developments
of proceeds from the rights issue received on December 23, 2011.
The subscription proceeds amounted to SR1.46bn, of which SR1bn
were used at the end of 2Q2015. The remaining balance of the
subscription proceeds is SR449.2mn. No proceeds were used in
any other aspect other than those mentioned in the prospectus.

 IMF: UAE needs more regulation to boost Islamic finance sector
stability – According to the IMF’s annual report on UAE, the
country needs to introduce more regulation to increase the
stability of its Islamic finance industry. The IMF said that the UAE
should modify its regulatory and supervisory frameworks to
adequately address Islamic banks’ specific risks. The UAE must
also continue to develop new Shari’ah-compliant liquidity
management tools for banks. Islamic assets presently account for
17% of assets and 19% of bank deposits in the UAE.

 DoFA begins paying compensation to property owners – The
Department of Financial Affairs (DoFA) has started paying
compensations totaling AED52mn to property owners affected by
the development project, currently underway in Al Nakheel area.
The development work is being carried out by the Ajman

 Amanat BoD approves acquisition of 35% stake in Sukoon
International – Amanat Holdings’ board of directors has approved
the acquisition of up to 35% interest in Sukoon International
Holding for a maximum investment of SR200mn. Sukoon is a
closed joint stock company, which provides extended care and
critical care medical services to patients, who are no longer suited
for care within a traditional hospital setting. (DFM)
 Gulf Navigation to issue MCBs worth AED37.34mn – Gulf
Navigation’s board of directors has approved issuing mandatory
convertible bonds (MCBs) as per a settlement agreement with one
of its major creditors, Nordic American Tankers Limited, Bermuda
(NAT). Under the terms of the agreement, the company will issue
MCBs with a face value of AED37.34mn as full and final settlement
for claims made by NAT. MCBs will be issued prior to August 20,
2015, subject to approval from the Department of Economic
Development and the Securities and Commodities Authority.

 Salalah Mills to establish OMR4mn polypropylene bags factory –
Salalah Mills’ board of directors has approved the establishment of
a polypropylene bags factory at a cost of OMR4mn, with a
production capacity of 48mn bags per year. The new factory
project will be financed by facilities from equipment suppliers and
commercial loans, and is expected to start production by 2016-

 Renaissance Services to repurchase second tranche of MCBs at
OMR0.151 – Renaissance Services has successfully completed the
repurchase of the first tranche of mandatory convertible bonds
(MCBs). In accordance with the resolution passed in the general
meeting of the holders of the MCBs on July 6, 2015, the company
wishes to repurchase the second tranche of MCBs (representing
50% of the remaining MCBs) at a repurchase price of OMR0.151
from its MCB holders. Meanwhile, National Bank of Oman (NBO)
acted as the joint lead manager in Renaissance Group's recent
pricing of $125mn dual-currency subordinated perpetual bond

right issues and bonus shares, almost matching the finance

 Sohar Port exploring ways to get bulk minerals jetty project back on
track – Sohar Port & Freezone is exploring ways to get its bulk
minerals jetty project back on track as demand for construction
aggregates is set to soar in key Gulf markets in the coming years.
The move promises to drive investment in mining and quarrying
in resource-rich Batinah North and Dhahirah governorates of
Oman. Reportedly, talks are underway with a number of parties
with regard to the establishment and operation of a proposed
10mn tons per year capacity bulk minerals jetty equipped to
handle exports of aggregates and mineral ores via the industrial

 BMMI BoD approves 20 fils per share cash dividend – BMMI’s board
of directors has approved the distribution of 20 fils per share cash
dividend for the year 2015. The shareholders registered on the
books as of August 6, 2015 will be eligible to receive the dividend.

 Batelco appoints Bahrain CEO – Bahrain Telecommunications Co.
(Batelco) has appointed Muna Al Hashemi as Batelco Bahrain CEO.
Mrs. Al Hashemi was appointed the acting CEO for the Bahrain
operations in December 2014. Meanwhile, Batelco and Huawei
have successfully completed the speed trial of the 40G TWDM PON
technology, which provides up to 40Gbps speed to deliver
seamless ultra-broadband, Future Cloud & ICT solution, future

 Al Baraka reports $84.7mn net profit in 1H2015 – Al Baraka
Banking Group reported a net profit of $84.67mn (attributed to
equity holders) in 1H2015 as compared to $80.46mn in 1H2014.
Total operating income reached $502.38mn in 1H2015 from
$445.28mn in 1H2014. The bank’s total assets stood at $24.03bn
at the end of June 30, 2015 as compared to $23.46bn at the end of
December 31, 2014. Receivables reached $11.98bn, while
customer current and other accounts stood at $4.54bn. EPS
amounted to US cents 7.65 in 1H2015 versus US cents 7.27 in

  • 1. Page 1 of 5 QSE Intra-Day Movement Qatar Commentary The QSE Index declined 1.4% to close at 11,610.2. Losses were led by the Real Estate and Industrials indices, falling 2.3% and 1.9%, respectively. Top losers were Qatar German Co. for Medical Devices and Gulf International Services, falling 4.1% and 3.6%, respectively. Among the top gainers Ahli Bank rose 2.6%, while Medicare Group was up 1.8%. GCC Commentary Saudi Arabia: The TASI Index rose 0.5% to close at 8,699.2. Gains were led by the Agriculture & Food Ind. and Insurance indices, rising 1.9% and 1.8%, respectively. Saudi Cable rose 6.5%, while Al Alamiya for Cooperative Ins. was up 5.9%. Dubai: The DFM Index declined 0.6% to close at 4,098.5. The Services index fell 1.3%, while the Real Estate & Construction index declined 1.0%. Dubai Islamic Insurance & Reinsurance Co. fell 2.7%, while Emaar Malls Group was down 1.9%. Abu Dhabi: The ADX benchmark index fell 0.5% to close at 4,809.0. The Consumer index declined 1.8%, while the Real Estate index fell 1.2%. Emirates Driving Co. declined 8.3%, while Abu Dhabi National Co. for B and M was down 6.3%. Kuwait: The KSE Index rose 0.4% to close at 6,271.5. The Telecommunication index gained 1.4%, while the Oil & Gas index rose 1.3%. Human Soft Holding Co. gained 9.1%, while National Mobile Telecommunications Co. was up 8.3%. Oman: The MSM Index fell 0.3% to close at 6,407.9. Losses were led by the Financial and Industrial indices, falling 1.0% and 0.3%, respectively. Renaissance Services fell 5.6%, while Al Sharqia Investment Holding was down 5.4%. Bahrain: The BHB Index gained marginally to close at 1,333.2. The Services index rose 0.2%, while the other indices ended flat or in red. Bahrain Duty Free Complex was up 1.8%.   • 2. Page 2 of 5 Qatar Market Commentary  The QSE Index declined 1.4% to close at 11,610.2. The Real Estate and Industrials indices led the losses. The index fell on the back of selling pressure from Qatari and non-Qatari shareholders despite buying support from GCC shareholders.  Qatar German Co. for Medical Devices and Gulf International Services were the top losers, falling 4.1% and 3.6%, respectively. Among the top gainers Ahli Bank rose 2.6%, while Medicare Group was up 1.8%.  Volume of shares traded on Sunday rose by 29.5% to 3.5mn from 2.7mn on Thursday. However, as compared to the 30-day moving average of 4.3mn, volume for the day was 19.3% lower. Barwa Real Estate Co. and Masraf Al Rayan were the most active stocks, contributing 16.5% and 16.3% to the total volume, respectively.   • 3. Page 3 of 5 News Qatar  MERS posts higher QoQ bottom-line in 2Q2015 – Al Meera Consumer Goods Company’s (MERS) net profit increased 34.1% QoQ (-21.5% YoY) to QR57.8mn in 2Q2015. The quarterly gain in net profit was primarily aided by higher revenue, up 16.9% QoQ (+14.5% YoY) to QR659.3mn. On the other hand, earnings dropped YoY as other income declined by 90.8% from QR41.6mn in 2Q2014 to QR3.8mn. It should be noted that 2Q2014 other income was significantly boosted by non-recurring investment income. Excluding other income, net income was up by 69% YoY. (QSE, QNBFS Research)  ORDS launches biggest network upgrade in Qatar – Ooredoo (ORDS) is introducing three-band carrier aggregation as part of the SuperNet upgrade. As part of the SuperNet upgrade, ORDS said it is introducing three-band carrier aggregation, building on its position of being the first and only company to combine 20+10 MHz bands on its 4G+ network. The network upgrade would enable the telecom company reach maximum top speeds and offer customers faster on-average Internet speeds. The ambitious project is touted as the biggest network upgrade in Qatar’s history. (Gulf-Times.com)  VFQS first to achieve 375Mbps network speed – Vodafone (VFQS) has said that it is the first telecom operator in Qatar, and one of the first in the world, to have a top speed of up to 375Mbps live on its network. This was achieved after it tested and rolled out 3-Band LTE Carrier Aggregation across its sites at the Doha Corniche and Qatar Science & Technology Park, with other sites across Doha to be progressively ready by November 2015. The 3 Carrier Aggregation rollout will cover additional sites in key locations such as West Bay, Katara, The Pearl-Qatar and others. (Gulf-Times.com)  Aiana hotel group to start operations in early 2016 – The Aiana Hotels & Resorts will open its first property in Qatar by 2Q2016. Group Joint Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer Amruda Nair said a serviced apartment with 180 units of different sizes will be opened within nine to 10 months in West Bay. A joint venture agreement had been signed with HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani, Chairman, Al Sawari Holding and Qatari Business Association, in March 2015 to create Aiana Hotels & Resorts. (Gulf- Times.com)  Online salary payments from August 18 – Qatar will launch the much-awaited Wage Protection System (WPS) on August 18, 2015 whereby all private sector workers will be paid salaries online through banking channels. An extensive database of all workers as part of WPS is ready with the Ministry of Labor & Social Affairs, which has been prepared in cooperation with Qatar Central Bank (QCB) and the Ministry of Interior. Several banking and financial institutions are taking part in WPS being implemented by the labor ministry in coordination with QCB. The supervisory authority is the ministry, which has set up a separate inspection unit to monitor WPS. Companies that fail to comply with the WPS will be taken to task. (Peninsula Qatar)  MDPS: 393 building permits issued in July – According to the statistics released by the Ministry of Development, Planning & Statistics (MDPS), the number of building permits issued in July 2015 by all municipalities were around 393. They included commercial and residential premises, of which the Al Rayan Municipality issued 117 permits and the Doha Municipality issued 102 permits. (Peninsula Qatar)  QInvest net profit jumps 86% to QR88.7mn in 1H2015 – QInvest has reported a strong growth across the board, ending 1H2015 with revenues up by 40% YoY and net profit increasing by 86% YoY. The investment bank’s revenue for 1H2015 increased 40% to QR195.6mn, compared to QR139mn recorded in 1H2014. The net profit for the same period saw an 86% growth to QR88.7mn from QR47.6mn. (Gulf-Times.com) International  Greece expects bailout talks to conclude by Tuesday – According to a Greek official, Greece hopes to conclude negotiations with its international creditors by early Tuesday at the latest as talks continued in Athens on a new multi-billion euro bailout designed to keep the country from financial ruin. Greece’s finance and economy ministers were locked in negotiations with representatives of the creditors on Sunday, which stretched till early hours of Monday. Greek officials had previously said they expected the bailout accord to go to the country’s parliament for approval by August 18. Athens is negotiating with the European Union institutions and the International Monetary Fund for up to €86bn in fresh loans to stave off economic collapse and stay in the Eurozone. The bailout must be in place by August 20 when Greece has a repayment falling due to the European Central Bank. (Reuters)  China PPI fall adds to case for more stimulus – According to the National Bureau of Statistics, China’s producer-price index (PPI) fell by 5.4% YoY in July, the biggest decline since October 2009. The data indicate weak demand for Chinese factory products, both at home and abroad, and suggest that interest-rate cuts and efforts to stabilize local government finances have yet to spark a recovery. Factory-gate prices of excavated oil & natural gas dropped by 34.6% in July while those of ferrous metal fell by 20.1%. Non-food consumer prices rose by 1.1% YoY in July, down from 1.2% in June. Overall the consumer-price index increased by 1.6% from the year-earlier period. The steepest decline in PPI in almost six years and an unexpectedly large drop in exports in July mount pressure on Chinese policy-makers to support growth. (Bloomberg) Regional  Frost & Sullivan: Growing challenges in GCC logistics market provide huge scope for automation – According to a survey conducted by analysts at Frost & Sullivan, the growing challenges in the GCC logistics market is presenting huge scope for automation in the region’s materials handling industry, while the current levels of mechanization within the sector is relatively low. The survey indicated that there is strong intent to adopt automation in warehousing and transportation to improve operational efficiency and processes. As per the survey, forklifts are the most popular forms of mechanization in the GCC logistics industry, with 37% of respondents indicating they use this equipment, followed by coding & labeling devices (34% of respondents) and warehouse trucks (26% of respondents). However, the overall opinion within the GCC logistics market is that the level of penetration of automation is low. The subscription proceeds amounted to SR1.46bn, of which SR1bn were used at the end of 2Q2015. The remaining balance of the subscription proceeds is SR449.2mn. No proceeds were used in any other aspect other than those mentioned in the prospectus. (Tadawul)  IMF: UAE needs more regulation to boost Islamic finance sector stability – According to the IMF’s annual report on UAE, the country needs to introduce more regulation to increase the stability of its Islamic finance industry. The IMF said that the UAE should modify its regulatory and supervisory frameworks to adequately address Islamic banks’ specific risks. The UAE must also continue to develop new Shari’ah-compliant liquidity management tools for banks. Islamic assets presently account for 17% of assets and 19% of bank deposits in the UAE. Under the terms of the agreement, the company will issue MCBs with a face value of AED37.34mn as full and final settlement for claims made by NAT. (Bahrain Bourse)  Al Baraka reports $84.7mn net profit in 1H2015 – Al Baraka Banking Group reported a net profit of $84.67mn (attributed to equity holders) in 1H2015 as compared to $80.46mn in 1H2014. Total operating income reached $502.38mn in 1H2015 from $445.28mn in 1H2014. The bank’s total assets stood at $24.03bn at the end of June 30, 2015 as compared to $23.46bn at the end of December 31, 2014.
