1. Institutions
Although it becomes quite obvious my product would belong to a magazine type media,
which would produce reports, interviews and other various other types of media to produce
an informative and entertaining magazine.
When searching for a magazine company which is best suited to the same genre and
publicity style as my own, I came across only one which is still a far way from being the same
as mine, VIBE. This magazine and its genre appears to intend a few of the same assets which
I have used, this can include the same type of demographics aimed at like the various
ethnicity throughout the genre of music, information, and the magazine overall.
Unfortunately my magazine becomes quite a various mix of genres and people who make it
stand out quite completely different from other well-known magazine producers. With this
in mind my magazine could relate to a selected and numerous amounts of different
magazines, however I like to think that it comes closer to relation with the VIBE magazine.
Such assets prove this like the use of demographics as already mentioned like the mixed use
of ethnicity and overall ages and style of music, this allows both our magazines to be seen as
open and full of different types of entertainment and information. The assets I enjoy the
most about VIBE magazine which I would also keep in my own is the consistency in the use
of having an individual artist in their own personalised position, pose and added props. This
is because of the independence and important effect which I believe it gives off while the
reader is also only focusing into one artist. This can also allow the readers to make a choice
based on the leading artist of the magazines certain issue that then leads down to the type
of audience the magazine relates to.
Looking back through my past research and planning, I created an audience profile which
basically displays images of random items, places etc. which relate in a stereotypical way to
the target audience of my magazine. In order to create the audience profile in the first place
I researched and evaluated a various amount of items which where owned by people who
enjoyed the magazines that can relate to mine. In this case I was finished with a page full of
items that belong to other stereotypes of other magazines yet however matched mine in
the same way. In doing this it completed my area of stereotypes and a various collection of
what made up my own genre of music. With looking at other magazines to find these items I
again used VIBE because of its closeness in genre and audience to my own magazine.
2. I chose VIBE as a main researching magazine due to its closeness in areas such as artists,
layouts, colour scheme, target audience, and stereotypes. The artist they use are as mine
which can appeal to any type of ethnicity and gender and depending what artist they can
appeal to a very wide audience age such as 14 to 50. The layout of their magazine relates to
mine in their simplicity and ordered way, in this case their magazine can relate to any of
their targeted audience because of the easily visible text, pictures, and overall content used
through out the magazine. Unfortunately to my own magazine I only used male pretend
artists who made my overall magazine seem typically male based and aimed towards.
Although the images lead to a male target audience, the genre of music produced by the
artists has always been an attraction from bother genders therefore this helps with using
only male pretend artists. With VIBE there main attraction rate I believe to be is the colour
scheme change which appears every issue. This colours scheme can seamlessly appeal to
made front covered artist which comes across as a very good technique and would
definitely be used in mine if other issues where created. This technique is good to have
because each issue attracts the same genre loving audience yet the individual artist and
colour scheme makes more of a niche specific audience being focused on at the same time.
VIBE media being the official company of their magazine has a wide various range of media
types in which they use to push across their imagery to wider audiences, for instance their
magazine being the biggest one is produced for many informative and entertaining reasons.
In this various amount of media VIBE have not only a VIBE magazine website but an official
VIBE website which is full of all the other types of media which they produce to audience.
On there official website they show the use of videoed interviews with artists along with
adverts which show an app for iPhones and other smartphones. VIBE also show a stronger
professionalism by showing links from there site to over popular social and interactive sites
such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and many more which other a more open variety into
there genre and imagery.
3. The ownership of the company comes down to an individual media publishing company
called Vibe Media that is based in New York City in the U.S. There based language is only
English which globally makes their audience quite niche and only focusing on English
costumers. Being that English is the highest percentage of language used most commonly
around the world, which still leaves a massive target audience range for them to target.
