2. Arena
I would like to work as an Event
Planner and Manager for concerts,
shows, meetings, and weddings in
California.
I would like to include the
video editing, perhaps to
promote the events, or the
behind the scenes of the
planning.
3. Identity
I’m a girl from a small town in Venezuela, where everyone
knows each other.
I’m very passionate about what I choose
to do because I’ve learned through the
situation my country is facing that life is
short and not everyone gets the same
opportunities to achieve their dreams.
I’ve always been committed
to my purposes since I come
from a family that supports
me and motivates in
everything I decide to do.
I like to meet people expectations when I’m asked to do a job and
work hard until getting the results I expected.
4. Skills
๏ Organized and good at managing
my time.
๏ Creative: I like to always be looking
for new ideas and different
designs to be inspired to do my
own.
๏ Proactive: I know how to handle a
last-minute inconvenient calmly.
๏ Emphatic: I understand people,
what they need and want.
๏ Passion and commitment: both
help me to work every hour and
minute without tiredness until
getting the perfect result.
๏ Work excellent under pressure.
๏ Networking: ability to connect
with new people I meet.
๏ Management and coordination:
manage a group of people and
services in an event.
๏ iMovie: developed-skills in this
program. (Editing)
๏ Bilingual: English and Spanish.
๏ Proficiency in Microsoft Office and
IOS Programs (Word, Power Point,
Excel, Keynote, Pages)
5. Profession
For me, the most important factor when working, besides the skills and
knowledge, it’s the attitude. A business or work environment will be
successful when having honest, hard working, kind, and responsible people.
Where there is only helping each other to achieve a common goal. I like to
enjoy doing it, as if it wasn’t a job.
That’s how I will behave in my jobs positions and will transmit it to others. In
the future when I get to have my own business it will be built from these
values.
I manage the services (Food, drinks, cleaning), the staff, the music, the
entertainment, the tickets, the decoration, the contracts, and more of events,
such as concerts, shows, weddings.
6. Credentials
I will be credible because I will have:
๏ Bachelor’s Degree Diploma in
Entertainment Business from Full Sail
University.
๏ Experience in events registered in my
LinkedIn profile.
๏ Posts and information about my projects
in my Instagram Profile.
๏ Information on my blog.
๏ Recommendations from my mentors,
professors, classmates, and people that
have collaborated with me.
๏ Photos in Google of my work.
7. Promise
I promise to my future employer that I will satisfy their expectations. I will
fail and learn but always giving a pleasing result at the end of the day. I will
work hard to innovate the company and get more people to know what we
do. I will take out the responsibility of being all the time making sure that
nothing when wrong, or that I missed a day of work or a deadline.
To my customers and clients, I promise that I will satisfy their expectations
as well. I will provide them with what they expected. I will listen to their
wishes and preferences, and combine that with my ideas and what I think
is best. To others, I promise to give an entertaining time without worrying
about anything.
I will work hard and organized to make sure that after somebody hires me
for their wedding or attend to a concert or show I'm managing, they won't
have to be worried of everything failing or having a boring time because
that's what I'm going to be doing.
8. Positioning
Someone should hire me over my competition because I
will make them enjoy the time working with me. I like to
do things in a way it doesn’t feel like work but
entertaining. Also, even though I haven’t sleep or eat, I
work until the moment I think everything’s perfect.
I want my audience to think of me as the person that can
do the job is asked for accurately, on time, and perhaps a
little tired but satisfied and happy.
There are going to be failures of course, but my ultimate
goal is to be really good at this.
9. Audience
Some people I believe that need to know me are the different event coordinators of the
various companies that interest me.
For example, there is one Event Coordinator of Special Events working in Live Nation
Northern California in Special Events. It would be useful to meet her since I would like to
move there someday. She speaks Spanish like me and has the same professional
interests as I. She has experience in concerts, such as Rihanna’s Diamond World Tour,
and Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Tour, as well as trade shows, destination weddings,
corporate events, and others. Moreover, she has worked abroad in South Africa and
Kenya. She dedicates part of her free time to be updated about the latest news and
trends in the industry.
It doesn't have to be her, but this is the type of people that would be beneficial for me
to be known by them. I would have to be remarkable, so when, for instance, they hear of
an opportunity for a job they would call me, or they could directly help me meeting
more people in the industry.
Also, there are many ‘clubs’ that professionals in the industry frequent. I would like to
eventually attend to them, so I can network with different people, let them know me,
keep the contact with them. In that way, I will already have connections when I decide
to apply for jobs.
10. Networking & Marketing
I will connect and follow the different people I’m interested in meeting. Send
them messages, so they get to know who I am.
I would like to call the attention of companies, as well as customers or just people
that like my work to encourage more people to know me. Because I will
eventually have my own business, this is significant. When many people see the
work I’ve done for clients, more people will want to hire me.
I will power up my social media profiles.
LinkedIn: information about my experiences, knowledge, and skills, as well
as the current work I’m doing at the moment.
Instagram: posts with thoughts that show my personality. Constant photos
and videos about the events I attend, the ones I plan and manage, and
promotion of other events.
YouTube: posting videos of the Behind the Scenes and during the different
events I plan. Possibly some content made by me.
11. Competitors
People that might be competitors are the people graduating from the
University of Central Florida with a B.S. in Event Management since these
people are getting an entire career education focused only on Event
Management.
Another competition would be the graduates from The Los Angeles Film
School in the Entertainment Business Bachelor’s Degree. This university is
similar to Full Sail, and they being already in California is an advantage
comparing them to me if I apply to jobs there because is easy for them to
have already make connections in companies there.
A specific competitor is Jordyn Rumberger, who is graduating from the
University of Central Florida, Rosen College of Hospitality this year (2019) with
a Bachelor’s Degree in Event Management. He has skills and experience in
Photography, Customer Service, and Event Planning.
12. Professional Development
I need to increase my knowledge in the Event Planning. The methods and strategies, as
well as the legal side, which I know nothing about. It’s very relevant in this area because
of the bookings, contracts, the hiring of staff. I will keep studying in my classes in Full
Sail, as well as on my own, reading articles, watching Lynda.com videos, and any other
method I find effective.
I need to gain experience because I don’t have any besides the events I’ve planned and
managed for my friends and family. Since I’m not able to work in the US yet, I’m starting
to volunteer at different non-profit events and shows in Orlando. This will prepare me for
how the industry works. After graduation, I will apply for jobs where I can begin being
closer to these tasks and responsibilities, such as event planner or manager assistant.
At the moment I’m getting help to develop myself professionally from a career
development's advisor. Who has helped me a lot to know which actions I should take to
start building my career. Eventually, I would like to find a mentor who’s actually working
inside the industry. Just like a Full Sail's Student working in any of the companies I’m
interested in, or an event manager, planner or assistant I get to meet.
There is not a specific amount of time. During my time in Full Sail, I will spend some
weekends volunteering, during the week my classes hours, then some hours to study,
and some of my free time to research, watch videos, and work on projects with people.
13. Goals
My goal is to get my work to be known. I do want to grow my brand
awareness and improve my professional image. I want people to talk
about the events I plan and share them with more people. I want to be
recognized by my hard work, personality, and creativity.
I will also like to share my way of living life, which is being happy before
everything else. Spread my energy, and show my authenticity.
