Los Angeles’ approach is to establish a set of governance structures to ensure effective
and equitable delivery.
• Mainstreaming Climate Policy: Reporting annual progress, an update of the
plan every 4 years and departmental strategic plans.
• Institutional Arrangements: Each City department has someone responsible
for sustainability coordination.
• External Governance: Diverse Community representatives engage communities,
particularly those most vulnerable to climate change.
• Interagency Committees: Committees to tackle specific challenges and realise
opportunities that require coordination.
• Budget Integration: Each department submits budgetary priorities, integrated
into the mayor’s proposed budget.
