SYSTEMMODEL OF CURRICULUM

 System model of curriculum developed by Y. Saran
came to light in 1976.
 This model is also called as Saran’s model of
curriculum.
 it is based on general theory of system.
This model employs system approach and analyses
the input, process and output.
INTRODUCTION
 It is scientific, empirical, and developed through
system analysis
 This model emphasizes for specific behavioral
objectives.
 It gives more importance for output analysis in
the curriculum evaluation.
 It is based on technological components.
Characteristics of SystemModel
 The continuous and regular modification and
improvement are necessary for each curriculum.
No curriculum is complete and perfect in itself.
Even new curriculum is not perfect in itself.
 So the curriculum development must be based on
system analysis.
All the three elements such as input, process and
output help in evolving effective model of
curriculum.

 Attainment of expected outcomes.
It provides a guideline for improvement of the
curriculum.
It include the evaluation to check the objectives
are achieved or not.

Steps of systemmodel
 The System Model of Curriculum present the
systematic form for curriculum construction,
implementation, and evaluation.
So this model attempts to mould the input to a course
in such a way as to enable the optimal assimilation of
the knowledge and skill take place during the learning
process. Hence maximize the quality of the output.
All the aspect of this model are connected to each-
other like a system.

System model of curriculum

  • 2.  System model of curriculum developed by Y. Saran came to light in 1976.  This model is also called as Saran’s model of curriculum.  it is based on general theory of system. This model employs system approach and analyses the input, process and output. INTRODUCTION
  • 3.  It is scientific, empirical, and developed through system analysis  This model emphasizes for specific behavioral objectives.  It gives more importance for output analysis in the curriculum evaluation.  It is based on technological components. Characteristics of SystemModel
  • 4.  The continuous and regular modification and improvement are necessary for each curriculum. No curriculum is complete and perfect in itself. Even new curriculum is not perfect in itself.  So the curriculum development must be based on system analysis. All the three elements such as input, process and output help in evolving effective model of curriculum.
