prescribe drugs to kill the malaria parasite.
Preventive measures : Apply insect repellent to exposed skin,
wear long-sleeved clothing and long pants if you are outdoors
at night
4. Name of the disease : Tuberculosis
Causative organism : Tuberculosis (TB) is caused by
a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
Modes of transmission : tuberculosis is transmitted through
the air, not by surface contact.
Symptoms : persistent Cough, Coughing up blood or mucus
,Chest pain, fever, weight loss, night sweat
Control/ treatment : Treatment isn't always required for those
without symptoms. Patients with active symptoms will require
a long course of treatment involving multiple antibiotics.
Preventive measures : The BCG vaccine is given to children
who are predisposed to get TB infections, such as children
living in endemic countries or close contacts with a confirmed
case of TB.
5. Name of the disease : Rubella
Causative organism : The disease is caused by the rubella
virus
Modes of transmission : Rubella is spread by direct contact
with nasal or throat secretions of infected individuals. Rubella
can also be transmitted by breathing in droplets that are
sprayed into the air when an infected person sneezes, coughs
or talks.
Symptoms : a low-grade fever, headache, cough, runny nosae
Control/ treatment : There is no specific medicine to treat
rubella or make the disease go away faster. In many cases,
symptoms are mild.
Preventive measures : Rubella can be prevented with MMR
vaccine. This protects against three diseases: measles,
mumps, and rubella
6. Name of the disease : Pneumonia
Causative organism : Viruses, bacteria, and fungi can all
cause pneumonia .A common cause of bacterial
pneumonia is Streptococcus pneumonia (pneumococcus).
Modes of transmission : They may also spread via air-
borne droplets from a cough or sneeze. In addition,
pneumonia may spread through blood, especially during
and shortly after birth

medicines without first talking to your doctor.
Preventive measures : Get the pneumococcal vaccine,
Don't smoke, Practice good hygiene, Avoid sick people.
7. Name of the disease : Poliomyelitis (polio)
Causative organism : A virus called poliovirus causes polio
Modes of transmission : Wild poliovirus is spread through
faeces and saliva. It is primarily transmitted through faecal –
oral spread and is an important consideration where sanitation
is poor.
Symptoms : Sore throat, Fever, Tiredness, Nausea, Headache,
Stomach pain
Control/ treatment : bed rest, Painkillers, antispasmodic
drugs to relax muscles, antibiotics for urinary tract infections,
portable ventilators to help with breathing
Preventive measures : The best prevention against polio is a
series of four vaccine shots in the arm or leg. The inactivated
polio vaccine used in the United States is very effective and
safe, and cannot cause polio.
