3. 2. CardScheme Support:
China Union Pay, Discover, new flavor of Diners International and JCB are the interfaces that were
developed completely from scratch. Development of new file interfaces include the two way
communication mechanism to create the outgoing file & process the confirmation /
acknowledgement file from the network to reconcile on the original as well as to take corrective
action if required on the incorrect transactions. Main aspect of development comprises an
exhaustive field by field analysis, normalizing them to existing application layer fields & DB/table
fields. Development of BIN loader module is done to load the issuing BIN (Bank Id No) info for
transaction PAN validation.

regulation covering the entire range of consumer & commercial product types.
3. Multi-CurrencyProcessingenhancement:
IST / Clearing being a processor centric multi-Institution solution, is required to handle more than
one currency within its transaction lifecycle. Transaction Currency is converted to the destination /
network currency and the Institution currency using the respective institution supplied currency
rates and logged along with the standard transaction attributes. This helps in accurately reconciling
settlement with the network as well as with the merchant as well ensures that any other currency
conversion required within the lifecycle of the transaction uses the same set of rates.
Accomplishment:
Played the role of a Pre-sales consultant, working with the Client (Luottokunta, Finland),
Product owner and BA in converting the external / market facing requirement into
internal business requirement.
Responsible for Architect-ing / designing the Solution, Managing the deliverable all the
way up to the customer Acceptance Testing.
4. InterchangeQualificationRules Management:
Interchange Qualification can be termed the heart of the IST / Clearing system, helping in
qualifying the transaction for the lowest possible interchange fee that is levied by the network by
applying the exact network rules on it- it’s rich and robust support of interchange regulation and
compliance of rules by the card association makes it the most attractive component of the product.
It extensively supports the interchange qualification rules of US, Canada & inter-regional jurisdiction
for Visa; Master Card & Discover with limited support for EU, AP & LAC intra-regional rules including
certain intra-country interchange specifications.
Accomplishment:
Involved in design & development of several interchange modules such as Canada
Intra-country, Australia & Singapore Intra-country programs.

programs.
Design & Development review of several interchange qualification updates done as a
part of every compliance cycle.
Consulted with new customers (Sterling Payments, Planet Payment etc.) on analyzing
the interchange reports during the on-boarding period to suggest improvisation on how
to qualify the transaction better.
5. XMLAPI interface
An XML based API to easily load & expose internal tables in IST/Clearing and IST/MAS systems to
any third party software via XML after necessary authentication & entitlement validation. The interface
is highly configurable to suit the need of the client. It provides a single shot opportunity to on-board
huge number of merchants whenever IST/Clearing or IST/MAS is bought by a new customer. Also,
the financial transactions within IST/Clearing and IST/MAS can be exported and imported to any
chargeback processor thru this in case of a chargeback cycle.
Accomplishment:
Responsible for the design & development of the API engine that in-turn interacts with
the internal Business Objects.
Responsible for Build & Deployment in Development & System Test environments as well
the customer’s UAT cycle.
4. 6. PA-DSS MANDATES
To secure against data theft within payment applications - causing losses to the tune of billions of
dollars, Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) specifies the regulations that any payment application
needs to comply with to be classified / stamped as secure for customers to use & thereby making it
safe from the potential threats & vulnerabilities – key requirements of which are
Protecting the stored card holder data viz., PAN.
The PAN is key information on a payment transaction that is logged in the DB as a part of the
transaction lifecycle management, this particular data is encrypted using encryption key thereby
ensuring that the stored data is protected.
Facilitate encrypted file read & write:
The input file with the merchant capture transactions are fed into the Clearing system for
processing as well as the resultant network export files produced out of the Clearing system
API interface. Both of these carry the PAN and so is encrypted to keep it safe.
Accomplishment:
Lead the team in successful delivery of the PA-DSS initiative helping in achieving the
certification.
IST MAS® (Merchant Accounting System)
A multicurrency solution that enables settlement & fee assessment for merchant accounting integrating
the processor’s transaction processing with the back office processing and generating general ledger
entries. It supports business functions such as accumulating & posting fee across different entity level
(viz., a direct merchant to an ISO to an Institution irrespective of the actual merchant attached to the
terminal) based on parameters such as transaction type, card scheme, currency code, statement
generation etc. It processes card association deposit batch files out of IST/Clearing for payment,
processing fee evaluating the attributes of each transaction received - with support to configure
differential rates and discount models. It additionally supports charging one-time non-activity fee, tiered
pricing based on volume, seasonal/promotional pricing. Clientele for IST/MAS includes Bank of America
(Merchant Services), Reliance Jio, Bank of Bangkok Ltd, Reliance Payment Systems limited- India
(Reliance JIO), Jet Pay - USA.
General Roles & Responsibilities:
Led the overall development delivery, QC support and support to customer.
Responsible for Design, Design review, development of major functional components &
code review.
Tracking & Reporting the project status up to the management i.e., Development
Director & the product owner.
Customer interactions, in-particular the pre-sales side of things mapping the
requirement to the product capabilities as well during critical issue handling.
Key Projects:
1. Payment FileInterfaces
IST/MAS creates files containing net settlement totals that represents funds owed to the merchants
resulting from transaction activity, allowing fees to be deducted from payment or to mark it
separately. These files are fed to financial institution that provides the actual funds transfer. It
supports standard ACH & WIRE payment file generation as well standard payment file with detailed
level of transaction information. These formats extract all the relevant merchant payment & posting
data from the transaction logger tables.
Accomplishment:
Responsible for design & development of the fee detail payment file.
Involved in design & development of several methods to derive the fields for the
new specification.
2. Multi-CurrencyProcessingenhancement
IST MAS being a consumer of the merchant batch file produced by Clearing is required to convert
from the transaction currency to the merchant settlement currency using the same conversion rates
that was applied in IST/Clearing thereby ensuring the sanity of the system. It is required to handle
more than one currency as it allows different currencies for different aspects of the calculation viz.,
non-activity fees, and settlement fees based on the merchant preferences.
Accomplishment:
Architect-ed the entire solution end-to-end from IST/Clearing to IST/MAS.
Involved in all aspects of the design & development of the enhancement.
5. Merchant Processing System:
A processing system that was brought in-house from being an outsourced solution from TSYS
processing platform leveraging on the FIS’ own products viz., IST/MAS & IST/Clearing in phase1 which
enables FIS to compete in the Large Merchant & ISO merchant space. The legacy system has around
70K merchants which are being migrated in phases. The first phase migration involved moving the back
office processing to FIS platform with subsequent phases planned to migrate the front end processing
to IST/Switch. Apart from the standard product features of IST/Clearing & IST/MAS, major custom
enhancements were accomplished to meet the business needs of this solution.
Roles & Responsibilities:
