Between 15th and 19th October 2018, a delegation of six teachers from the National College of
Computer Science "Carmen Sylva" Petroşani participated in the C2-Short-term joint staff trainings event, which
was organized at RIGA PARDAUGAVA SCHOOL, Riga, Latvia. The activity took place within the project of
strategic partnership in the field of school education, Key Action 2, ERASMUS +, Project name EVERY
STUDENT IS SPECIAL, Contract number: 2017 - 1 - TR01 - KA219 - 046009_3. This activity was attended
by teachers from Turkey, Romania, Italy and Poland.
Activities during the week aimed to promote teaching methods for the integration of pupils with
adaptation problems in the school environment as follows:
- Participation in workshops on two groups on "Painting on stones for the development of students' creative
skills" and "The role of parents in education” based on school-family cooperation for the development of
practical skills for students, in this case the creation of souvenirs from various materials. The competences
involved were: communication of the partner teachers with their Latvian counterparts and parents about the
beneficial effects on pupils of the real school-family interaction, especially with pupils with special needs as
well as their easier integration in the school environment;
- Participating in an artistic show by students and teachers of the host country, in which beautiful and novel
cultural elements of all partner countries were presented, thus developing communication skills in the partner
and English languages, as well as awareness cultural values specific to Latvia;
- Exchange of working methods in physiotherapy for pupils with "posture disorders" and their inclusion in
compulsory education;
- Participation in groups of psychotherapy and horeo-therapy workshops with the teachers and students of the
host country, familiarization with methods and techniques of relaxation, encouraging and helping students with
speech, attention, concentration, locomotion disabilities and development of effective communication methods
with disadvantaged students ;
- Participating in open lessons on logo therapy, applying the didactic games to develop logical thinking and
memory, and taking part in an open lesson of teaching Geography through IT tools, within which teachers
demonstrated the improvement of digital competences, skills in computer operation by gymnasium students;
2. - Participating in a music lesson, "Sounds of Music," in which students, coordinated by teachers, demonstrated
the ability to use various musical instruments for the creation and interpretation of musical sequences, proving
artistic pleasure and increased interest;
- Promoting relaxation techniques through "sand therapy", in order to stimulate students' creativity and to
facilitate their communication through spontaneous artistic expression, both individually and through team
cooperation;
- Developing the artistic and collaborative communication skills of the disadvantaged pupils by involving them
in the dramatization of some fragments of literary famous works, here the fairy-tale "Cinderella". Students,
guided by teachers, directed and played the fairy-tale roles seriously and focused on stage, costume, and timing
details, proving the importance of appreciation of teachers, schoolmates and viewers on personal development,
self-esteem, self-confidence, emotional validation;
The activity gained positive feedback through questions and answers, questionnaires, brief discussions
about the topics presented in the workshops on: stone painting, physiotherapy, psychotherapy, horeo-therapy,
logo-therapy and sand therapy, about the methods that participants use in their countries to promote the
inclusion of pupils with special needs or disadvantaged backgrounds, formal institutions and associations
involved in the education process for student integration and the prevention of early school leaving.
These activities were aimed at promoting methods for pupils with adaptation problems in school and
promoting multilingual and multicultural competences of European life and education, and they will also have
an impact on everyone who will visit the project profile and the Facebook accounts of posted materials and
images.
