Introduction to Entrepreneurship No. of Slides : 16 Lecture 1 (Slide 9): 1) These institutions are opening up incubators and center of entrepreneurship, and on the other hand banks, micro finance institutions and NGO’s they are also promoting and supporting to help individuals choose the career of entrepreneurship irrespective of their age and gender. Lecture 1 (Slide 10): 1) It is all about doing your own business and entrepreneur is someone who sets his/her own business. Lecture 1 (Slide 11): 1) Now the questions that arises, why do the entities that we’ve discussed earlier are promoting and encouraging entrepreneurship. When you graduate and start a job, you’ll have two options, you might be seeking a job in a firm or on the other hand you might be creating your own firm. Lecture 1 (Slide 12): 1) When we talk about entrepreneurship or that we study entrepreneurship, I’m often questioned over this, is this a new discipline, is it a process & is it an attitude? 2) It is an emerging discipline, and a process that helps us in creating our own business venture, and an attitude and behavior. Frequently asked questions also include, who is an entrepreneur and the most interesting one would be, are entrepreneurs smart, intelligent, innovative & risk lovers? 3) So yes entrepreneurs are usually smart and genius people. Lecture 1 (Slide 14): 1) This course is not age restricted, but we strongly recommend this course to those young individuals who are yet to begin their career. They can also decide if they want to be a job seeker or a job creator 2) But the content is equally helpful for the in-action entrepreneurs 3) The new learners can understand what entrepreneurship is, their theories and as a discipline how has it emerged and lastly all the related issues, challenges faced in it. 4) The in-action entrepreneur can learn various skills, whether its management, marketing, financial matters, business plan development, or growth related issues & how they can be handled. Lecture 1 (Slide 15): 1) Moving on, now the question is, do you think you can learn entrepreneurship? So whenever you tell someone that you’re studying entrepreneurship, you’ll always be asked one question and that would be, that does it even makes sense that operating a business can be learnt by studying? 2) Indeed, we agree, entrepreneurship is a practical and experiential nature subject. Until or unless, when we don’t establish our own venture, you won’t be able to understand the ideology of entrepreneurship successfully. 3) However irrespective of the fact, no matter how good of an artist, guitarist, poet, and business sense you still need a mentor. You need a mentor who can help you make better decisions, risk taking strategies, better and smart marketing strategies and provides your business intelligence. 4) Remember, a startup or a business venture can never be successful just because of co-incidence or mere luck.
