2010 ----- TO DATE Tesco Fenny Lock /Daventry grocery.
Employed as a Warehouse Team Manager. I am responsible for the running of an area
within the warehouse such as, Goods in, Goods out, Assembly and loading. I ensure
supplier turnaround targets and picking productivity targets are met and physical
stock received matches what is expected and that stores receive the correct stock
delivered on time.
I coach and motivate my team to ensure all activities are completed productively and
accurately and that each individual maximises their potential.
I continuously strive to improve my Key Indicator productivity targets.
I ensure stock integrity is maintained through accurate record keeping and check that
no damaged stock is passed to the warehouse. I also ensure that vehicles depart on
time so that stores receive stock on time. I attend regular meetings and deliver both
verbal and written reports to senior managers.
2002 ----- 2010 UCI Logistics Marston Gate Bedford
Employed as nightshift manager working for Tesco contract, mainly clothing and
white goods. Responsible for 60 staff, goods-in/out, picking, transport and customer
issues. Goods are mainly delivered in containers from import so duties involve
checking documentation and goods before sorting for put away and pick. Responsible
for order picking using Tesco’s own warehouse management system /meeting and
exceeding set KPIs.
Other duties involve production of depot and customer KPI information, disciplinary
issues with the staff and their training and development. Also responsible for Health
and Safety and customer liaison during the night. The line of reporting is as follows
the Tesco Contract Manager and other senior managers within UCI Logistics.
2. In 2006 UCI and NYKL merged as one company as the Tesco contract was not
renewed so I was seconded to various contracts continuing my role as a shift manager.
This increased my knowledge in managing different types of warehouse products and
looking at the needs of various customers. From May 2006 I was employed as the
Shift Operations Manager on the Sony Contract.

1993 ----- 2002 Hays Logistics, Milton Keynes.
Joined Hays Logistics prior to the Brinklow site opening as a warehouse operative
and was quickly promoted to a teamleader. In 1994 I was promoted to first line
manager in fresh goods-in where a comprehensive knowledge of warehouse
operations was gained. I was seconded to the frozen depot at Tongwell as a first line
manager where experience of this new temperature controlled environment was
gained along with valuable experience in implementations, training and development.
During 1995 I was part of the start up team for the new frozen depot at Theale and
remained there until February 1996 . I then returned to Brinklow as a section manager
in FRV.
After gaining valuable experience in this area I change to working nightshift as a
section manager in Ambient until 1999 and then transferred back to dayshift as a
section manager on Wave 2 loading.
The main role of the section manager was to effectively control the warehouse
operation of a particular section within set parameters meeting the requirements of the
company and meeting customer expectations in line with the specified KPIs. Liaison
with other departments was a major part of the role along with the effective person
management and communication skills.
Promoted to Chamber manager in September 2001 after spending some time as acting
Chamber manager. Responsible for overseeing and developing the section managers
across the depot, setting targets and goals and carrying out regular performance
review of staff. The Chamber managers report to the warehouse operation managers
and act up to this role in their absence. The key tasks of the Chamber manager involve
responsibility for the whole depot’s performance with regard to picking, goods-in.
loading and the health and safety of staff. Liaison with the customer at senior level
takes place on a daily basis. At any time the Camber manager is responsible for up to
520 warehouse staff and 42 section managers. I took voluntary redundancy in
February 2002.
1991 ----- 1992 Wincanton Logistics Milton Keynes
Joined Wincanton Logistics as a warehouse operative after having been self employed
for many years. Within six months I was promoted to chargehand with full
responsibility for the running of a team of warehouse operatives which involved the
picking and management for a chilled distribution customer. Knowledge of all
warehouse operations was gained and a working knowledge of the transport operation
involved.
