Meeting in Hungary-bulgaria

  1. 1. Taking the recipe
  2. 2.  1 pack of filo dough  4 eggs  300 grams Bulgarian cheese (or feta cheese)  1 cup of yoghurt  A pinch of baking soda  150 ml oil  200 ml sparkling mineral water Ingredients:
  3. 3. First, crack the eggs Then, beat the eggs.
  4. 4. Add the crumbled cheese
  5. 5. Mix the eggs and the cheese together but don't over mix – the cheese should be lumpy, then add the oil.
  6. 6. Add the baking soda to the yoghurt and stir until the yoghurt is up.
  7. 7. Then add the sparkling mineral water and mix together with the cheese mixture.
  8. 8. Put some of the mixture on the bottom of a baking pan.
  9. 9. Lay 5-6 sheets of filo dough, one after another (not together) . Put some of the mixture on them
  10. 10. Repeat until 3-4 sheets of filo dough are left . Then lay other 3-4 sheets and mixture.
  11. 11. Now all the sheets are put. Spread the remaining mixture on top.
  12. 12. This is how the banitza looks like before we bake it. Bake in the oven until golden (about 30 – 45 minutes on 180 – 200 C ).
  13. 13. After it is ready, put it on 4 cups upside down. Put a cloth over it for a 4-5 minutes.
