5. What students like the most about SFP and OWA?
“Dont underestimate the
convenience of being a 5 min
walk from class. Discussion
groups start at 0800 first term!”
“I really wanted a kitchen so I
could have friends over”
“Pretty clutch during recruiting
when you have to change
several times a day.”
“A lot of your sectionmates are
most likely in the building”
“Having a balcony is super nice
during Aug-Sept and spring
time.”
6. Worse things about OWA and SFP
The Insider Info:
Subletting is a major issue. There is a clause in your subletting contract that only authorizes you to
sublet to other Harvard affiliated students. Start early and you can get 90-100% of your rent back, wait
until the last second and you will get no one.
Its not cheap. For how outdated SFP is, HBS is not giving you much of a break. Also the fact that very
few apartments have dishwashers is a major issue that people don’t fully recognize.
No Elevators. Before sign your lease, make sure to double check if your building has elevators. Only a
issue for SFP.
Air Condition. The AC in a lot of SFP rooms are not that good. Its only a problem in Aug-Sept and in
May.
7. Tips
3 bedroom units have the highest probability of having a dishwasher (SFP)
Students with a child (under 18 yrs old) get an earlier selection window (BOTH)
ASW and the HBS MBA Facebook Group is the best way to find roommates
Make sure to check the currently available units page often as you can snag some
great units (2 or 3 bedrooms ) and skip the entire lottery situation.
13. OWA - 3 bedroom
Here you can see the
average space of a
bedroom in the 3 br OWA
apartment, along with the
kitchen and hallway.
Don’t worry these students
are now using us for home
cleaning services :)
14. SFP
The infamous Soldiers Field Park apartment
complex. Unfortunately, half of the sfp buildings
will be closed for the class of 2018 due to
renovations.
REMINDER: ELEVATORS ONLY IN BUILDING 1,2, and 6
