Humorous Experiences
Experiences I don't have a very dramatic life, but I guess everyone has a few experiences, big or small, that has made an impact on their lives. Every
day we all make decisions, both good and bad. Some changes are not ours to make. In this write–up I will be sharing previous experiences that made
the biggest impacts on me. Once in elementary I called my teacher lazy (not directly) and someone (no names mentioned) overheard and snitched.
My teacher called me out in the middle of the class and he was pretty disappointed and angry at me. He called my parents and had to talk to me
several times. That was partly my fault, although some of it wasn't me. First of all, it was none of the snitcher's business, and second, he was kind of
lazy because it was something he was supposed to do. Those few sentences led to almost half a year of hate from my teacher (he already hated me
anyway) but still, I'd rather not make things worse than they already were....show more content...
It's quite a complicated story why I did what I did. But anyway, I got mad at this one kid and punched him and he decided to snitch, which got both
of us in trouble. I had to go to the head coach's office with my mom. I learned a few things from this: for one, not to resort to violence, even if you
win you won't win in the long run. –From then on I didn't use much physical force to harm anyone. An experience in process is procrastination. I am
not a huge fan of homework, so sometimes I get lazy and leave things to the last minute. Slowly, I am learning to do homework on time. From every
late assignment, I am learning to work for the long–run and complete my homework on time. This experience isn't one time, but it is a long,
journey–type

Humorous Person
Several individuals have regarded me as a humorous person. As a comedic individual, I know that there are a number of people who have a
perspective that individuals with a humor talent are immature or not serious people. However, my talent is not merely for entertainment purposes,
rather I use this talent very extensively in my life to bring enrichment to others. For instance, when a friend or family member is feeling down, I have
of often cracked a joke to bring a smile on their face. Brining a smile on people's faces is not easy, I am lucky that I have a talent which allows me to
brighten up people's day. Similar to Nil, I too am able to bring life back into others.

Humorous Man-Personal Narrative
I used to work in a grocery store, there was a man who would come in fairly regularly and I would bag for him but we never spoke. I would greet
him with a smile and a friendly hello but he never reciprocated. Over time I grew to resent him for it, I began to think of him as someone who was
"too good" to speak to a bag boy. This went on and I became so engrossed in my own anger that whenever I saw him it would ruin my day. I hated
this man who hadn't given me any real reason to. I was stocking cans of french cut green beans when he walked into the aisle. I assumed my usual
inward scowl and tried to absorb myself in my task. It was while I was doing this that I felt a small timid tap on my shoulder and started out of my
reverie. I turned to look into the face of my most despised patron and it struck me odd that I should have such hatred for someone whose name was
still unknown to me. He still didn't speak but had obviously needed my attention for something. He made a gesture with his...show more content...
I felt as if I had been hit by a brick. I was stunned, so much so that I blurted out I'm sorry. He took this to mean I hadn't understood him when in all
actuality it had been a feeble attempt to atone for my sins. He gestured again and by now I had come back to reality and retieved a notebook and
pen for him. He wrote in it, rice, and I took him to the aisle where it could be found. The whole time feeling so guilty that throughout this 15 second
journey visions of the karmic punishment that I was sure was headed my way danced through my head. When I did he looked stunned and his eyes
began to well up. I was horrified thinking that I had done something to offend him in some way or that he somehow knew of my mental transgressions
against him. When I asked him what was wrong he wrote something in the notebook and handed it to me. It read: it's been 2 years since anyone has

Personal Narrative: A Humorous Moment
Humorous Moment I thought when I heard the thud on the floor it was just my imagination, but when I overheard it, again I knew there was
someone in my house. I was panicky and did not know what to do. I know this will be a day I will never forget and laugh when I think about it. I
was just strolling out my room in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom when I heard the sound of someone in the kitchen knock something
over. I nearly jumped five feet high when I heard the big boom. Immediately, I thought it was a burglar trying to steal our valuables. My heart was
beating so loud, I was sure that whoever was in the next room could hear it. Despite my racing heart, I gather all the courage I had and sneaked into
the kitchen. I

September 30, 2014 The Meaning behind Jokes. Some researcher say that laughter is the best medicine a human can get. There are many different
ways to get a good laugh. Whether it's from seeing a funny movie, watching funny videos on the internet, or telling jokes with your friends.
Personally, my favorite way to get a quick laugh is to exchange funny jokes between my friends. Some of the best jokes are the ones that might come
off a little racist if said to the wrong person. It is the racism that makes many of these jokes funny. For instance; many polish jokes can easily be
change into moron jokes, but when delivered has a moron joke it's not all that funny. So the racism in the joke is meant to come...show more content...
Therefore, this suggest that racist humor is the same thing as a put–down. Many people laugh at these because put–downs are funny, even when the put
down is directed at them, mainly because they realize that the tendency of it is relative harmless. Most people find it to be a great stress reliever
when they join others in a good laugh about oneself. A philosopher by the name of Michael Philips would agree with the point stated above. He
would say "that not all the jokes that are directed towards a certain ethnic group are racist. That we need to be able to distinguish the humor that is
morally unobjectionable and the humor that is not."(Philips) It all depends who the audience is during the telling of a joke. Some people might think
that the joke that is being presented is racist, while someone else might find it funny and not racist at all. What I'm trying to say is that it all

Summary Of Humorous Complaining
Another study that the researchers found relevant to this research is the one conducted by McGraw, Warren, and Kan entitled Humorous Complaining
(2015). The study focuses on complains with humor, it uses the benign violation theory. The study explains that although complaints document
dissatisfaction, some are also humorous. It introduces the concept of humorous complaining and draws on the benign violation theory–which proposes
that humor arises from things that seem simultaneously wrong yet okay–to examine how being humorous helps and/or hinders complainers. Further, in
contrast to the belief that humor is beneficial but consistent with the benign violation theory, humor makes complaints seem more positive (by making
an expression of dissatisfaction

Copper leaves and empty skeletal swings rustle against the blistering carbon machines smoking out particles of greying sonorous melodies, heavy with
a layer of thick mournful soot and perspiration sweating out the saltiness of human fervour.

illusive and corrosive battlefields swirling in an antagonistic coal–lit fire crackling its scarlet canker smoldering like a cancer along the tremors of their

Personal Narrative Essay : A Funny Day At School
I remember one incredibly funny day from last year. It was the day I fell through the glass display case at school. Boy, I tell you that sucked so
bad. I know for a fact I'll never live it down. I'm known for being pretty accident prone so it was no surprise to people when they found out I was
the one who had left the blood stain in the hallway. I was walking back from lunch with my friend Matt, we were telling each other jokes about
dead babies. I looked over and saw my little brother, I turned to Matt and said "watch this" then I ran up to my brother and tried to do a jumping
high five. He didn't think I was trying to high five him he thought I was trying to hit him. Out of instinct he pushed me away and I fell backwards,
I landed and pivoted on the ball of my left foot. I thought I had gotten away safe and clear, I went to take a step and BAM! I had been tripped by
my own untied shoelace, betrayed by my own apparel. I fell backwards and expected to hit lockers, unfortunately it wasn't lockers or even a door. I
had crashed into the glass display case, oh the utter humility. I hit the ground and leaned up on one arm, I was fine, not a scratch. Mrs. Wright
come running up in total mom mode " Oh my God, are you alright, AHH, don't move!". " No it's okay I can get up, they are pretty big pieces, I can
crawl around them". " No sweety don't get up". I looked at her and asked " Mrs. Wright is there a piece in me?". She gulped and said "Yes". Total

The Brief Etymology of the Word Humor
Imagine for a moment the vast history of the languages of the world. The base sounds that over time formed into words, words that eventually evolved
into language, language that branched and developed into different languages. Modern languages adopted words from ancient languages, and adapted
the definitions to meet the requisites of the civilizations for which they served. This development in language is due to the fundamental need for the
human race to communicate effectively with one another. Therefore, it is not surprising that many words have dual meanings. For instance the word,
humor, has expanded from its original definition to encompass the interpretation available in modern English. The following is a brief view of the
complex etymology of the word humor.Presently, people use the word, humor, to describe an event or person that one finds comical. According to The
American Heritage Dictionary, one definition is, "The quality that makes something laughable or amusing." (The American Heritage Dictionary).
However, in ancient times the word humor had a completely different meaning. Amazingly, the word, humor, traces its origins back to the ancient
Romans, whose spoken and written language was Latin in approximately 900 AD. According to Dictionary.com, the word humor developed from the
Latin word umor, which means moisture. It was during the 13th century in old Northern French language that the word humor was developed. The

Short Note On Humor And Humor Essay
Most of my humor ends a conversation with a laugh, or even a smile. Humor to me is something that makes the mind positive. Gives a feeling that
you crave; that you want. Can turn any situation to a good situation. I try my best to make sure that what I 'm saying is humorous and not serious.
Life without humor for me would be very boring because I would never be able to extent my thoughts. Everyone has a different style of humor,
which leaves room for creativity. Humor makes people want stick around. To me that 's awesome because when people want to talk to me I get to
make new friends. Another reason why I love humor is it never gets boring. Humor never gets repetitive, by saying the same joke over and over again. I
can play with my ideas. Use the knowledge that is given to me and extend it. Which ends up making humor interesting and creative. Being creative is
what makes humor what humor is.
Humor is one of the most important things in everyday life because in humor we can truly see and appreciate some of the best and most beautiful
things in life. Humor is my most beloved speech because it makes life fun and interesting. My friends and I use different types of humor within
different types of situations. No matter what our humor always has a happy outcome.
The humor I like to use with friends and close aged teenagers is party humor. This humor consists of mostly joke talk; a talk that involves no
sophisticated language. Party humor is best used at special occasions,

Personal Narrative: A Humorous Essay
My friend JJ is really funny. Every time I'm sad he always makes me laugh. The funniest thing he does is when he dances. It may look weird when
you first see it, but then after a while it becomes funny. Have you ever laughed so hard that you fall on the ground, well I have? My friend JJ
always doesn't this stupid dance but it's really funny. We were in Mcdonalds once and just started to it out of nowhere. So we at a table and he had
his chicken nuggets, and started doing it. He would take a chicken nugget and fling it around and then dip it into ranch and do the same thing. It
started doing it from this you tuber named Roy Purdy does it in public. When you look at it is so funny looking. So JJ and I were at the High School

Sharon and Kristy, without your confidence, I did not have the courage to make the leap to the upgrade. I was afraid that I would lose the ring
forever and we had many wonderful years of living tied up in the history of our rings. You gave me courage and again I thank you. As Frank told
you, it is quite unusual for me to speak about myself or the events of our lives. I tend to be quiet and lead my life with as much grace and humility as
possible. I feel that is what God expects of me. I always give my best to others. However, to my surprise, reflecting on such a meaningful symbol of our
lives brought many memories and emotions to the surface. Among these memories was VPI and our love through college, the sunrise wedding high on
top of the mountain with the flat–top guitar playing John Denver's "Poems Prayers and Promises" and "Sunshine on Your Shoulders", and Bread's
"I'd Like To Make It With You", the words we scrolled and shared as our vows, the gentle breeze and the sunrise followed by Frank's parents driving

  • 2. Humorous Experiences Experiences I don't have a very dramatic life, but I guess everyone has a few experiences, big or small, that has made an impact on their lives. Every day we all make decisions, both good and bad. Some changes are not ours to make. In this write–up I will be sharing previous experiences that made the biggest impacts on me. Once in elementary I called my teacher lazy (not directly) and someone (no names mentioned) overheard and snitched. My teacher called me out in the middle of the class and he was pretty disappointed and angry at me. He called my parents and had to talk to me several times. That was partly my fault, although some of it wasn't me. First of all, it was none of the snitcher's business, and second, he was kind of lazy because it was something he was supposed to do. Those few sentences led to almost half a year of hate from my teacher (he already hated me anyway) but still, I'd rather not make things worse than they already were....show more content... It's quite a complicated story why I did what I did. But anyway, I got mad at this one kid and punched him and he decided to snitch, which got both of us in trouble. I had to go to the head coach's office with my mom. I learned a few things from this: for one, not to resort to violence, even if you win you won't win in the long run. –From then on I didn't use much physical force to harm anyone. An experience in process is procrastination. I am not a huge fan of homework, so sometimes I get lazy and leave things to the last minute. Slowly, I am learning to do homework on time. From every late assignment, I am learning to work for the long–run and complete my homework on time. This experience isn't one time, but it is a long, journey–type Get more content on HelpWriting.net

For instance, when a friend or family member is feeling down, I have of often cracked a joke to bring a smile on their face. • 6. Humorous Man-Personal Narrative I used to work in a grocery store, there was a man who would come in fairly regularly and I would bag for him but we never spoke. I would greet him with a smile and a friendly hello but he never reciprocated. Over time I grew to resent him for it, I began to think of him as someone who was "too good" to speak to a bag boy. This went on and I became so engrossed in my own anger that whenever I saw him it would ruin my day. I hated this man who hadn't given me any real reason to. I was stocking cans of french cut green beans when he walked into the aisle. I assumed my usual inward scowl and tried to absorb myself in my task. It was while I was doing this that I felt a small timid tap on my shoulder and started out of my reverie. I turned to look into the face of my most despised patron and it struck me odd that I should have such hatred for someone whose name was still unknown to me. He still didn't speak but had obviously needed my attention for something. He made a gesture with his...show more content... I felt as if I had been hit by a brick. I was stunned, so much so that I blurted out I'm sorry. He took this to mean I hadn't understood him when in all actuality it had been a feeble attempt to atone for my sins. The whole time feeling so guilty that throughout this 15 second journey visions of the karmic punishment that I was sure was headed my way danced through my head. When I did he looked stunned and his eyes began to well up. I was horrified thinking that I had done something to offend him in some way or that he somehow knew of my mental transgressions against him. When I asked him what was wrong he wrote something in the notebook and handed it to me. It read: it's been 2 years since anyone has asked me my Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Personal Narrative: A Humorous Moment Humorous Moment I thought when I heard the thud on the floor it was just my imagination, but when I overheard it, again I knew there was someone in my house. I was panicky and did not know what to do. I know this will be a day I will never forget and laugh when I think about it. I was just strolling out my room in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom when I heard the sound of someone in the kitchen knock something over. I nearly jumped five feet high when I heard the big boom. Immediately, I thought it was a burglar trying to steal our valuables. My heart was beating so loud, I was sure that whoever was in the next room could hear it. Despite my racing heart, I gather all the courage I had and sneaked into the kitchen. • 8. Example Of A Humorous Research Paper Matthew Slonaker Mr. Turner Philosophy 2367 September 30, 2014 The Meaning behind Jokes. Some researcher say that laughter is the best medicine a human can get. There are many different ways to get a good laugh. Whether it's from seeing a funny movie, watching funny videos on the internet, or telling jokes with your friends. Personally, my favorite way to get a quick laugh is to exchange funny jokes between my friends. Some of the best jokes are the ones that might come off a little racist if said to the wrong person. It is the racism that makes many of these jokes funny. For instance; many polish jokes can easily be change into moron jokes, but when delivered has a moron joke it's not all that funny. So the racism in the joke is meant to come...show more content... Therefore, this suggest that racist humor is the same thing as a put–down. Many people laugh at these because put–downs are funny, even when the put down is directed at them, mainly because they realize that the tendency of it is relative harmless. Most people find it to be a great stress reliever when they join others in a good laugh about oneself. A philosopher by the name of Michael Philips would agree with the point stated above. He would say "that not all the jokes that are directed towards a certain ethnic group are racist. That we need to be able to distinguish the humor that is morally unobjectionable and the humor that is not."(Philips) It all depends who the audience is during the telling of a joke. Some people might think that the joke that is being presented is racist, while someone else might find it funny and not racist at all. What I'm trying to say is that it all Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Summary Of Humorous Complaining Another study that the researchers found relevant to this research is the one conducted by McGraw, Warren, and Kan entitled Humorous Complaining (2015). The study focuses on complains with humor, it uses the benign violation theory. The study explains that although complaints document dissatisfaction, some are also humorous. It introduces the concept of humorous complaining and draws on the benign violation theory–which proposes that humor arises from things that seem simultaneously wrong yet okay–to examine how being humorous helps and/or hinders complainers. Further, in contrast to the belief that humor is beneficial but consistent with the benign violation theory, humor makes complaints seem more positive (by making an expression of dissatisfaction Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 13. Personal Narrative Essay : A Funny Day At School I remember one incredibly funny day from last year. It was the day I fell through the glass display case at school. Boy, I tell you that sucked so bad. I know for a fact I'll never live it down. I'm known for being pretty accident prone so it was no surprise to people when they found out I was the one who had left the blood stain in the hallway. I was walking back from lunch with my friend Matt, we were telling each other jokes about dead babies. I looked over and saw my little brother, I turned to Matt and said "watch this" then I ran up to my brother and tried to do a jumping high five. He didn't think I was trying to high five him he thought I was trying to hit him. Out of instinct he pushed me away and I fell backwards, I landed and pivoted on the ball of my left foot. I thought I had gotten away safe and clear, I went to take a step and BAM! I had been tripped by my own untied shoelace, betrayed by my own apparel. I fell backwards and expected to hit lockers, unfortunately it wasn't lockers or even a door. I had crashed into the glass display case, oh the utter humility. I hit the ground and leaned up on one arm, I was fine, not a scratch. Mrs. Wright come running up in total mom mode " Oh my God, are you alright, AHH, don't move!". " No it's okay I can get up, they are pretty big pieces, I can crawl around them". " No sweety don't get up". I looked at her and asked " Mrs. Wright is there a piece in me?". She gulped and said "Yes". Total internal breakdown but I Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The base sounds that over time formed into words, words that eventually evolved into language, language that branched and developed into different languages. Modern languages adopted words from ancient languages, and adapted the definitions to meet the requisites of the civilizations for which they served. This development in language is due to the fundamental need for the human race to communicate effectively with one another. Therefore, it is not surprising that many words have dual meanings. For instance the word, humor, has expanded from its original definition to encompass the interpretation available in modern English. The following is a brief view of the complex etymology of the word humor.Presently, people use the word, humor, to describe an event or person that one finds comical. According to The American Heritage Dictionary, one definition is, "The quality that makes something laughable or amusing." (The American Heritage Dictionary). However, in ancient times the word humor had a completely different meaning. Amazingly, the word, humor, traces its origins back to the ancient Romans, whose spoken and written language was Latin in approximately 900 AD. According to Dictionary.com, the word humor developed from the Latin word umor, which means moisture. It was during the 13th century in old Northern French language that the word humor was developed. • 15. Short Note On Humor And Humor Essay Most of my humor ends a conversation with a laugh, or even a smile. Humor to me is something that makes the mind positive. Gives a feeling that you crave; that you want. Can turn any situation to a good situation. I try my best to make sure that what I 'm saying is humorous and not serious. Life without humor for me would be very boring because I would never be able to extent my thoughts. Everyone has a different style of humor, which leaves room for creativity. Humor makes people want stick around. To me that 's awesome because when people want to talk to me I get to make new friends. Another reason why I love humor is it never gets boring. Humor never gets repetitive, by saying the same joke over and over again. I can play with my ideas. Use the knowledge that is given to me and extend it. Which ends up making humor interesting and creative. Being creative is what makes humor what humor is. Humor is one of the most important things in everyday life because in humor we can truly see and appreciate some of the best and most beautiful things in life. Humor is my most beloved speech because it makes life fun and interesting. My friends and I use different types of humor within different types of situations. No matter what our humor always has a happy outcome. The humor I like to use with friends and close aged teenagers is party humor. This humor consists of mostly joke talk; a talk that involves no sophisticated language. Party humor is best used at special occasions, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I was afraid that I would lose the ring forever and we had many wonderful years of living tied up in the history of our rings. You gave me courage and again I thank you. As Frank told you, it is quite unusual for me to speak about myself or the events of our lives. I tend to be quiet and lead my life with as much grace and humility as possible. I feel that is what God expects of me. I always give my best to others. However, to my surprise, reflecting on such a meaningful symbol of our lives brought many memories and emotions to the surface. Among these memories was VPI and our love through college, the sunrise wedding high on top of the mountain with the flat–top guitar playing John Denver's "Poems Prayers and Promises" and "Sunshine on Your Shoulders", and Bread's "I'd Like To Make It With You", the words we scrolled and shared as our vows, the gentle breeze and the sunrise followed by Frank's parents driving off a cliff on our wedding day, and the tears that were shed and the heartache that followed our beautiful moment in time, and then after the heartbreaking accident having to take my grandfather, who had a stroke, to Pennsylvania on our wedding day....show more content...
