Introduction
A spring is a point where underground water emerges onto the Earth's surface (Scott et al, 2004, p. 354). Florida springs are an important resource
throughout the state: recreation, agricultural, public supply, and so forth. Indeed, many Florida springs have historical prominence in their respective
regions. Florida's karst topography is truly unique; the state's bedrock is composed of limestone (and some dolostone), which formed over eons and is
the remains of deceased sea creatures. This limestone is very susceptible to dissolution, and over time water has seeped through the bedrock to form
underground aquifers. When parts of these aquifers reach the surface, a spring is formed. Anthropogenic activities can influence the health of Florida's
springs. For example, stormwater runoff can carry many harmful chemicals to springs. Florida's springs are connected to the Floridan aquifer –– the
underground drinking water source for much of the state's residents. The importance of Florida's springs goes beyond environmental processes. To
further the scientific pool of knowledge, enhance public understanding, and clarify current gaps in the current state of knowledge related to Florida

currently has a problem with our water management; though Florida is the Sunshine State, we have a lot of rain, and this rain often overflows into
man–made sewer drains. Rain then runs off into our drains and oceans and then starts to leak into our groundwater, carrying pesticides and other
dangerous substances into our drinking water. When a high level of pesticides enters the aquifer, the quality of our water diminishes.

Florida Last summer was a real blast! I went to Florida to visit my family for a week, and Malik came with me. I hadn't seen my Florida family in so

throughout the essay she uses crude language to display her disgusted thoughts and sense of hopelessness, but it can be seen specifically in the
introduction. The introduction is based off of her entire experience; after her jobs at Hearthside and Jerry's. She compares the environment at Jerry's
to a human body, and not in a very pleasant way: "The kitchen is cavern, a stomach leading to the lower intestine that is the garbage and dishwashing
area..." She also uses descriptive items of food to depict its scent, combining strange and appalling odors such as "decomposing lemon wedges [and]
water–logged toast crusts" (179). These phrases themselves create a negative image of the restaurant, commanding the readers to question how she
could have possibly been forced to work in such horrible conditions. Ehrenreich's rough language effectively shows certain emotions brought out by the
