Autec Training was founded in June 1989 by Mike Ferguson who placed adverts in the local papers offering on-site forklift training after taking his industrial forklift course. In January of 1992 Autec opened its first Training Centre at Northey House, Peterborough, to train Industrial forklifts, and branched into construction forklifts in 1994. During 1995 Autec saw a gap in the market for Construction training and expanded into other types of construction plant training like Excavators, Site Dumpers, etc. After completing the SMSTS at the CITB in Bircham Newton, Mike started growing the company by introducing health and safety courses and becoming a CITB, NPORS and LANTRA accredited Training Centre by the end the same year. By 1997 Autec had moved into the world of Street works by Running streetworks courses through City and Guilds. CPCS was the next accreditation Autec obtained for construction plant training and testing in 2003. In October 2011 Autec moved to a bigger self-contained Training Facility covering 11000 square feet and the companies current home on Oxney Road and has now gained SQA accreditation and RTITB.
Although forklift and construction training is still a big part of the business, Autec has added a wide range of work place training for nearly every sector and runs over 50 different training courses from Manual Handling to Driver CPC, either from our fully equipped Training Centre or on-site at the client’s workplace. Autec prides itself on being a family run business with the 2nd generation of Ferguson now taking its place within the company, and is also proud of its reputation which we have gained through hard work, quality training and excellent results working with many national, international and localised companies as well as the numerous private individuals.
