The ICE story
Simply put, New Zealand needs many more plumbers, gasfitters,
and drainlayers if it wants to keep up with construction growth.
Polytechnics currently don’t have enough space to train everyone.
That’s why Skills, Manukau Institute of Technology, and industry
leaders came together to create ICE – to make sure all our future
plumbers, gasfitters, and drainlayers, such as yourself, get the training
they need.
How is ICE training delivered?
The course material and resources are based on and supported by
Manukau Institute of Technology. Your training and assessment will be
completed at the ICE premises along with utilising a range of specialist
training facilities and resource around the Auckland region.
So who actually owns the school?
ICE is industry owned, with the shares being held in a Trust., The Trustees
have been appointed by our own industry leaders. Everything ICE does
benefits you and the industry as a whole, by providing the resources for
high-quality training.
How else is ICE different to other
types of training?
ICE is all about collaborating with everyone in the plumbing industry.
Training providers, learners, employers, manufacturers, and other parties
all playing a part in deciding how your training is delivered.

Course dates: First Block Course ICE A Mon 13th – Fri 17th February 2017
Course schedule: On this course you will be completing unit standards relating to Health & Safety
including, site safety, confined space, fall arrest/height safety and first aid.
Course Material: A Student Information and Induction package will be sent before the end January.
All learning material for your ICE A block course will be provided throughout the week.
