These slides are about teaching learners Physical Education. It includes different ways to start getting fit, such as eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly and ways for learners to incorporate fitness into their lifestyles. Furthermore, the ways that teachers can provide support or recommend for improving students' eating habits according to their body type.
2. WHAT is
Fitness?
• In simple words, physical fitness is the ability of a
person to live a healthy lifestyle and move their
body effectively and efficiently. For example,
regular exercise
• There are 2 types:
Health related refers to strength and endurance,
flexibility, cardiovascular endurance. For example,
splits, running, push ups
Skill related refers to speed, power, balance. For
example, jump rope, balance walk on a pole
Give me a few examples of fitness?
3. WHY
participate?
• Reduce risk of chronic illnesses. i.e heart
disease, obesity
• Learn skills. i.e hand-eye coordination when
playing netball
• Maintain a healthy weight.
• Holistic development. i.e mind, body and
social.
• Improved memory and brain function.
• Better blood circulation
• Live longer
4. HOW to be fit
• Set fitness goals. e.g weight gain or
weight loss.
• Do research on types of food and
exercise for body goals. i.e YouTube,
Tik Tok, Instagram, myFitnessPal
• Regular exercise. i.e 2-3 times a week
for about 30 minutes to 2hours, 10
000 steps daily.
• Eat healthy food. i.e 3 meals a day, 4
food groups for each meal, fruits and
vegetables.
• Drink at least 3 litres of water daily
• Find a workout partner in class/
home and stay consistent!!!
5. Types of
exercise
Warm upThese are the type of exercises that are done before
exercising to prepare the body for exercise.
• They increase body temperature, blood flow to the muscles
and oxygen, and increases heart race, help avoid injury
Dynamic exercises. e.g jumping jack, running, arm circles, lunges
Can you give other examples of warm up exercises?
Cool down These exercises are done post workout.
• They slow down the heart rate to normal pace, helps avoid
injury, reduce body temperature to normal
Static exercises. e.g hip and thigh stretch, hamstring stretch, calf
stretch
Can you give other examples of cool down exercises?
How long should warm ups or cool downs take?
6. WHERE?
• Use Physical Education lesson
every week.
• Join a sports team in the school. i.e
netball, soccer.
• Ask for permission from your
parents to join gym.
• Do home workout with familyi.e
use social media platforms, or
google, get a bicycle
• Join a workout club in your
community. i.e most have games in
the afternoons
• Use stairs instead of lifts/ walk
instead of taking a taxi/go for a run
everyday/
• Go hiking with your family. i.e
