INTRODUCTION:
N.P.A.O. stands for Necessity, Priority, Anxiety and Opportunity. It is a process designed to
navigate through a list of tasks and prioritize based on importance. The NPAO framework allows
one to manage all existing tasks for their life, professional goals and hobbies in a needs-based
format which will act as a roadmap to accomplishing your goal.
HOW TO USE: READ ME
The N.P.A.O. Framework is an organizational model designed to help people activate goals faster
by prioritizing the most pressing needs and aligning actions towards effective execution.
This template is meant to be used to design tasks based on importance for a project. For example,
a website may need to be delivered to a client by a certain date. The necessity of starting and
completing the work may begin with securing an invoice with the initial deposit, or drafting a
SOW.
NECESSITY
A task is deemed a NECESSITY if it is an essential function for any following tasks to be
completed.
EX)
1. I MUST pay my rent this month
2. I MUST create ten thousand in sales this month to keep the lights on
3. I MUST develop a business plan to organize my idea
PRIORITY
A task is deemed a PRIORITY if it is important to accomplishing your stated mission.
EX)
1. I NEED to create a strategic plan for the fiscal year
2. I NEED to hire a new marketer to launch our product
3. I NEED to get a good grade in this class to get a good GPA

2. ANXIETY
A task is deemed an ANXIETY if it keeps bothering you and won't stop until it's done.
EX)
1. I WON'T HAVE PEACE until I schedule that doctors appointment
2. I WON'T HAVE PEACE until I finish the backlog projects in my portfolio
3. I WON'T HAVE PEACE until I negotiate a raise for my salary
OPPORTUNITY
A task is deemed an OPPORTUNITY if, by completing it presents a chance for new
growth.
EX)
1. I CAN prospect 500 additional leads this week to get closer to quota
2. I CAN buy a ring and propose to my partner for marriage
3. I CAN invest in Asana stock and increase my future profits tremendously
