Why the age range? They aren’t too young and too old.
They are old enough to reflect on the material and to think
   of their future, but young enough that they’ll listen.
It tells the story of Blu, a
 male blue macaw who is taken to
 Rio de Janeiro to mate with a
 female. He eventually falls in love
 with Jewel, a free-spirited
 macaw, and together they have to
 escape from being smuggled by
 Nigel, a cockatoo.
1:00   Leave Ateneo Campus
1:30   Arrival
       Prepare Materials & Equipment
       Gather girls in venue
       Settling down
2:00   Start of program
       Prayer (Song: Trading My Sorrows +
       Animation)
2:05   Introduction – names, why we’re there, etc.
2:10   Ice Breaker – Get to know each other: “ako si
       _________, gusto ko maging isang
       _________”
2:30   Start of movie (facilitators sit among girls +
       food!)
4:00   Ice Breaker – find groupmates: draw lots
       (name of character) and group with the same
       character
4:10   Reflection/processing:
       1. Start with kamustahan
       2. Show photo of each character, and ask what they
       remember about the characters
       3. What character can you relate with the most? Why
       and how were you able to relate to the character?
       4. With what you have learned, what will you do with
       your dreams?/ What are you going to do after?
       5. Facilitator summarize everyone’s reflections
       *Note: Everyone joins in reflection. We’re not there
       as teachers but as friends
4:35   Dance to Rio!
       Why? Because it’s fun! (Girls are more inclined to
       dancing than singing) It is symbolic for releasing
       inhibitions and breaking free, and dancing will help them
       remember the experience

       Eat! While eating, children evaluate the activity.
5:00   Leave MBT

Editor's Notes

  1. We want them to acknowledge their worth, that they can go back into society, despite discrimination.  Don't allow yourself to be discriminated/marginalized! They also have to be motivated.  They work on incentives.  They don't think that they can succeed anyway.
