Perspectives
Life Span & Introduction to Sociology
PSYC–2314–S03
In class we have been discussing the analogy of perspectives. A perspective is a way of seeing, also thought of as a 'point of view'. This mental
view or outlook can both enhance and constrain how we view the world in our own eyes. In the field of psychology and sociology there are many
ways to perceive our world in which we live. No one perspective alone can define the world. Each perspective has its own distinctive strengths and
blind spots. In class we have discussed different theories and analogies to better understand the complexity of perspectives. Perspectives will both
facilitate and constrain perception. A good example of this statement is the Burke...show more content...
Even when that one perspective may not be the most accurate way of viewing something in a particular situation, it can be tempting neglect other
perspectives or "tools". The example given in class was Freud and his psychosexual theories. Freud believed that everything we did was a result of
our sexual desires. Freud's only "tool", or perspective, was this belief , and he used it when viewing everything, even when it may have not been
the best "tool for the job". Most of us have heard the term "seeing is believing", but in class we discussed that "believing is seeing". When you
already believe something and have an idea implanted in your memory it will alter what you think you are seeing. In class we observed many
slides of different pictures portraying how believing is seeing. One specific example from the slide show was one image that contained two
completely different pictures depending on how you looked at the picture. Before showing us the image for the first time the pervious slide stated
"Cowboys Crossing the Creek". When the image appeared you automatically saw cowboys on horses crossing a creek. Then we were shown a slide
stating "Faces Everywhere". This time when the same exact image was shown for the second time, you saw faces everywhere in the image. This is
because you already had an idea placed in your mind causing you to see what you already believe. Referring to the familiar

Outline Reflecting on My Past, Present, and Future
Thesis Statement: Our past creates the foundation that brings us to our present. Throughout life we are faced with choices. Those choices determine
what road we travel. The past cannot be changed, only learned from. What we choose to do with those lessons will determine how we live our present
and by our choices within our present we can go anywhere we want to with our future. The choice is ours to make.

I started out in a sales position with the goal of owning my own business and within a few years I was the owner of a lucrative cleaning company
which afforded me the flexible schedule I desired and the income I needed to maintain the lifestyle I wanted. I never forgot what the most
important things in life were even through my success. It's not what we become on the outside for those are things that are fleeting; it is what we
are within ourselves that lasts a lifetime. I say that because things and people can be taken from us. The strength within will keep us going even
when our world is falling apart. I married in June of 1984 and had my first son January of 1987. Life was good and it seemed like nothing could
ever make that feeling disappear. I was grateful for my family and enjoyed the life we had. But just as I stated earlier that which is on the outside is
fleeting, I experienced that first hand when I suffered through the death of my husband. I found myself alone, feeling abandoned and responsible for
the life of my young son and not knowing what to do. I wish that on no one. I am grateful for the family I have for they were my strength when I had
none left and they were my encouragement when I thought I had nothing left to give. I spoke of choices earlier and I faced a huge choice at that time in
my life. I could have given up, embraced the

My Best Day Essay : My Perfect Day
Have you ever wondered what a perfect day would be like? An everyday routine starts to get annoying and boring, especially if you don't get a day
off. At the moment, my routine is to wake up early, get ready for school, go to school, and after a long day come back home. From the time I get
home which is around two in the afternoon and by the time I go to sleep, it all consists of doing homework. Sometimes I wish I can at least take a day
off and relax, with having no worries. The idea of a perfect day for me should be a day to get rid of stress, and should be an unforgettable day.
As the sun started to come out, I knew it was time to start my day. The perfect day that I've always dreamed of was going to be today. I looked at my

In the meantime, while I was waiting for my food to get here I went to the kitchen to wash the dishes that I left in the morning. After my food got
delivered I went back into my bed and started eating my orange chicken with rice. By that time, I was already in the fourth movie, all of a sudden it
was really dark outside, but I was not scared at all, even though I was home alone. Now it was around ten at night and I had finished watching the
Halloween series. I turned my tv off and started playing really loud music on my speaker. I knew it was nighttime and the neighbors might complain,
but at the moment I didn't care about anything. I enjoy listening to depressing songs specially from Coldplay which gets me in the mood to cry. My
eyes began to close so I turned my speaker off as well as the light and I went to sleep. At last, a perfect day for me should be different from any
ordinary day, and should enjoy it like as if it was my last. I see a perfect day as not something outstanding, but more of like a lazy day. This day was
one of the best days I've ever had because it's been forever since I've taken a break. Many people might do something like this on a regular day, but for
me it was one of the days where I got to stay in bed, relax, and let all of the stress out. Days like this doesn't hurt and everyone has their own ideal day,
but for me is all about being comfortable. As long as, I have a day off

Descriptive Essay On Dystopia
Dystopian Setting
The city that once had homed thousands and been the most economically successful country ever, was now a contaminated wasteland. The land
looked dry, destroyed and lonely. The morning breeze felt like crying sorrows, and the grey deceitful sky awed down at us. In the deepest corner of
despair lies dystopia where hope dies. As someone looks through the eyes of the devil, they see his utopia. Only visible by the dim light of the moon
was the great wall. Beyond the wall? No one knew. Stretching away from the wall was a humongous bridge that towered the wall. Standing tall on the
bridge was a tower, which had two circles that almost looked like eyes. Those mysterious, creepy and dangerous looking eyes stared down at the city
giving away a haunting look.
The reek of death hangs in the air throughout the land. Filling the mouths of those who lived in this abandoned land was the taste of burnt garlic. The
screams and cries of terror undistinguishable between beast and human fill the ears of the last ones living. The sky, which was lit by the glow of fires, is
grey and empty. Decaying bodies and...show more content...
As I walked, the air of this haunted, dreadful and sorrowful land had sucked the life out of everything and roared as humanity began to disappear.
As I carried on walking, I noticed that the small fraction of light was getting smaller and smaller, until it had been engulfed into a think black ash
like smoke. Aggressively, the wind walked past the building with its cruddy feeling, blowing away all signs of life. Deeper and deeper into the
land was a burning car door. The fire roared and crackled. The roaring and crackling of the burning car door merged with the aggressive air and
created the loudest sounds ever heard on land. Growing darker, the skies made me feel nauseous. The fear of not waking up if a human fell asleep

Essay on My Day
My Day I wake up every morning with a shock, my mum knocking at the door and shouting,
"Time for a shower." I'm always tired in the mornings and find getting up for a shower really horrible, though it does a good job of waking me up and
after it I'm ready for another day at school. Well that is what I think but I usually end up in bed asleep right up until 7.45 am. Luckily I have usually
packed my school stuff the night before.
My house is quite big and there is lots of room to get away from the rest of my family. I have a computer in my room and I spend quite a lot of time on

Another couple of friends arrive at this house too and we all get together and walk to school. This walking to school together gives me a good
opportunity to make after school arrangements. Once at school (the walk takes about 15 minutes) I go to my tutor base and catch up with my friends
who don't walk to school with me. After a short rest I make my way to my first lesson on a Monday usually English.
English requires a lot of work and its quite interesting. All year it's work, work, work, which is hardly surprising seeing that it's GCSE year. I'm going
to need to work hard because qualifications are a necessary part of any career and I definitely want a career not just a job.
After the first two lessons I usually eat my lunch. It may seem strange that I eat my lunch at break but it takes so much time queuing at lunchtime just
so I can sit down and eat some food that I would rather eat my packed lunch early freeing up time at lunch for other activities. The only downside to
this is that you have lots of people surrounding you begging for food. Most people would probably just say "No", but I have real problems with
saying "No" and more often than not half my food is devoured by these hungry beasts.
Once break is finished I work until the real lunch time and then I hang around the common room or go to the library and do

High School Graduation Essay
Graduation
Through out life people go through so many hardships. Whether it be good or bad there is always something that comes out of the situation. One of
the most exciting but yet scariest events would be graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and
effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed. Graduation is the end of high school, and the
beginning to life. I can almost remember that day like it was yesterday, I awoke like on any other school day. It was a gorgeous May morning, therays

an hour before the ceremonies started, and I promised one of my best friends Tony that we would go together. I knocked on his back door and let
myself in like I always do. All of his family members were running throughout the house trying to get ready. I asked his mom where Tony was and
she proceeded to tell me that he was in the bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the mirror
with his cap and gown on. He look me straight in the eyes and said," Can you believe that we are about to graduate?" I replied," No, it really hasn't
set in yet." Tony finished getting ready, and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors' cars. Tony and I
walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all
ears. I couldn't help but look around at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke. Once the principal
concluded his speech, the whole senior class paraded down the hallway to the commons in two uniform lines stopping just outside the gymnasium
doors. We could hear the band warming up and playing songs. All the people that were standing around me were bubbling

My Core Values
As I have grown as an adult and moved further towards success in my life, I have always maintained a guided structure to achieve goals and tasks
that challenge me. I call these my "Core Values". This is a strict regimen or a belief system that I have instilled into my everyday practice to complete
any task that presents itself. Although not perfected, I have found this method to be quite successful. My work ethic, responsibility, and my drive to
further my education and knowledge have never failed me. Life can seem tough and demanding on a very consistent basis, but I believe that I have
cultivated a plan to accommodate and withstand any trial

To build responsibility as a child I volunteered to take care of my family dog. Even though she was the family's pet I took it upon myself to make sure
she was properly fed, watered, and walked. My mother was very proud of my new development as an adolescent. She became very encouraging and
would come up with other special chores around the house that I could be relied upon to handle. To some children this would seem like a
punishment, but both of my parents were so supportive and persuasive that I looked forward to having the gained accountability. My father
instituted honesty and respect as monuments for responsibility. I of course struggled at times with taking care of my dog, and handling some of
my other chores. But my father always wanted me to not only be honest with my parents, but also with myself. He stated that a lie would not
benefit anybody and it was disrespectful to tell a lie. He would tell me that a liar was the same as a cheater, and nobody liked either. If I knew how
to respect others and be honest, than my responsibility would only increase. I asked why I would want added responsibility and my father told me
two things that changed my perspective completely. First, it was that responsible people always tended to be more successful. Since I had always
dreamed of growing up to be rich and famous, I guess I could accept the added responsibility. The second thing he told me was that one day I could

Minecraft Essay
Minecraft is a game where the player uses their imagination to shape the world around them using the resources they find. In the world everything is
shaped like a block or a cube, this includes the trees, the dirt, the water, the clouds, even the sun, everything. This simple game hasn't even been
released yet but has already sold over one million copies. Minecraft was created by one man, Markus "Notch" Persson, and this is his story. What
makes the story of Minecraft so unique is that it was created by Notch and only Notch. Notch had a job before Minecraft, working on games for a
company. He started to work on Minecraft in his free time but after a giant popularity spike he realized that it could be a hit, so he quit his job and began

The game sells around 10,000 copies per day. It has become a cultural phenomenon and on January 12, 2011 sales passed the one million mark, but
they continued to rise. With popularity increasing, big name comics like "Penny Arcade" and "Hejibits" discovered the game too and published
comic strips about minecraft, leading to even further sales. Minecraft makes $250,000 a day and continues to do so. On June 13, 2011, Minecraft
passed 2.5 million sales. Today Mojang has 10 employees. Markus Persson, Jens Bergensten, Daniel Kaplan, Junkboy, Jakob Porser, Carl Manneh,
Tobias Mollstam, Aron Neiminen, Daniel Frisk, and Daniel Rosenfeld. These few people make up the team that continues to work towards
Minecraft's future. But with so few employees things take time. Even though the game has not been officially released, people who buy the game
get a copy of what it is right now as the updates are being pushed out. With such success Mojang is the target of some heavy criticism from blogs,
critics, and even their own fans. One speculation from fans is that Minecraft will be the company's 1 hit wonder. What happens if it truly is a one hit
wonder? Will the company go down under? Will it be the end of Mojang? Will they join a publisher in order to stay afloat and lose their title of
"indie?" Another speculation concerns Mojang's next game that has absolutely nothing to do with Minecraft, not even in the same genre. What if
nobody likes the game? What

Essay On I Am Malala
The book "I am Malala" tells the story of eleven year old girl that campaigned and fought for woman's rights and for the Taliban to allow them to go
to school. Malala had an extremely tight nit family bond along with very supportive parents. She always had their support especially from her father
Ziauddin. I believe that if I had a daughter so young that wanted to make such a big difference in her country I would stand by her one–hundred
percent and push her to set out her dreams. That is exactly what her parents did, they always encouraged her to do whatever she put her mind to even
now in present day.

Malala wanted to make a difference in how unequal woman's rights were, and she would go to all costs to make it happen in her country. Her
father said since she was a baby that this child is special, and she was. If my child wanted to take a stand at eleven for woman's rights I would be
shocked to say the least. I would've brushed it to the side and forgot about it. Malala had a very strong support base because I would not have let
my child of eleven protest which she could have gotten killed for. Malala was brave, she even said she was not afraid to die. Most would have
been more comfortable if she was "older" and "wiser". Which I think is a common misconception on young people. More seasoned people think that
just because a child is young they cannot have a big voice or have an opinion on society because they have not experienced as many years on earth as
them. Malala broke the mold and she protested what she felt was right, even though she ended up getting shot in the face for it. Was it worth it? I think
it was worth it.
In conclusion I support the fact that Malala's parents allowed her to fight for woman's rights, and to stand up for what she believed in. Malala's
shooting affected people across the world and she was even nominated for

Persistence Essay Examples
"Persistence guarantees that results are inevitable." – Paramahansa Yogananda. Persistence is an important trait to have as it allows one to push through
adversity, accomplish tasks that they would not be able to if one did not have the trait of persistence. As defined by Merriam Webster Dictionary
persistence means the quality that allows someone to continue doing something or trying to do something even though it is difficult or opposed by
other people. The modern word persistence originates from the latin word persistent meaning continuing steadfastly. Persistence is the ability to

They thought that the bullets would silence us. But they failed." Malala was shot in the head for continually pursuing her dream for equal
education. She never quit fighting for what she believed in. Malala has always dreamed for equal education, she has taken this belief from her
father. She always spoke out courageously for what she believed in. She was shot in the head because she is standing up against what the Taliban
believe is right. She survived and is still pursuing her dream for education for girls. She used the trait of persistence by never giving up and
striving to succeed in equal education. If she did not use persistence she would not have accomplished what she has. Most people after being shot
would quit and say it is not worth it, she did not quit. Malala always worked hard to be the best in her class, she was not satisfied if she was not the
one that all the teachers loved. She never quit and would work harder than everyone else. Malala is super competitive and has always wanted to be
the best in her class. "I worked hard and had managed to regain my position on the school honor board for first in class." She is always working
harder than others to achieve the best grade in the class. This shows how she is persistent on being the best. Persistence is one of

My Teaching Philosophy Essay
My Teaching Philosophy I believe that education extends far beyond the classroom walls, and involves many more people than students and
teachers. People should be learning wherever they go, and should continue learning long after they've graduated from high school or college.
Education isn't something that can be quantified with tests or report cards, but is instead something that people carry with them. It's a survival pack
for life, and some people are better equipped in certain areas than in others. People with a solid education are prepared for nearly anything, as they
will be able to provide for their own physical, emotional, and aesthetic needs. That being said, I also believe that a crucial part of education does...show

The roles of a teacher are so many and so varied that it is impossible to list them all, but one of the most important is preparing students to learn, not
only in the classroom, but everywhere, and for the rest of their lives. Learning is not a skill that is necessarily instinctual or easy, and therefore
different approaches must be used to make learning easier and more fun for students. Teaching is not a skill that can be memorized or made
repetitive, and so teachers must continue to challenge not only their students, but also themselves. Teachers that become complacent in their jobs are
not good teachers. Those who can find a way to make an old lesson new and exciting will have an energized classroom, and will be reenergized
themselves. Every child is different. That sounds like an obvious statement, but so many ineffective teachers seem to forget this. Each student has his
or her own varying abilities, talents, and levels of competence, and it is the job of a teacher not only to recognize this, but to help each student
recognize this as well. If a child isn't doing well in a particular subject, both the teacher and the student should work towards figuring out why, and the
teacher should accept the challenge of finding a way to make a particular subject more

Perseverance Essay
What is perseverance? Perseverance is the ability to go on when things seem hopeless. It is also a measure of success, or at least how much sacrifice
one is willing to make in the name of success. As students, it is impossible to achieve personal success without having a goal, or direction. The goal
and direction that often propels us to achieve is perseverance. Perseverance is the ability to forge ahead despite setbacks that threaten to undermine all
efforts to succeed.

There is no shame in falling; the shame is in accepting the the fall as defeat. Nelson Mandella once said, "The greatest glory in living lies not in never
falling, but in rising every time you fall." That is the essence of persevering––finding the will to get up even though you know you are being counted
out.
Each day is a challenge for some of us. Some of you struggle to get up each morning and make it to school. But you find it within yourself to do
because the hope of a better tomorrow compels you to do so. It is not easy to explain to teachers or other students that there was no one to wake
you up and see that you were ready for school. The moment you leave your house and step on the bus, you are one step closer to realizing your
dream, to fulfilling your purpose. That is what perseverance is. It is the finding the strength to do the impossible because you know that all things
are possible. It is understanding that your tomorrow has great possibilities because of the steps you take today. I had a neighbor whose parents were
divorced, but it seems like both parents divorced her. Her mother had custody, but she was seldom around. My friend raised herself. She gave a whole
new meaning to the phrase "putting yourself through school", but she was in middle school. However, she had a dream of something better and it was

Commitment is My Greatest Quality Essay
Commitment is more than a promise to do or give something. It is the state or quality of being dedicated and maintaining an attitude of someone who
works extremely hard to do or support something. Commitment not only requires full attention, but also requires diversity. A person who processes the
quality of commitment should be very responsible and well–rounded. I believe I am a person who represents this unique quality by processing
patriotism, willingness to place service above self, ability to set goals and achieve them, friendliness and helpfulness, diverse interests, strong work ethic

Not only have I grown a respect for my peers, but also for my coworkers. Diversity is the state of being diverse or having variety despite any

enjoy sports, participating in musicals, volunteering at Lancaster General Hospital, and learning instruments. I have been active in my school's track

Good Parenting Essay
Good Parenting
What makes a good parent? People have always tired to find out the answer, because what makes a good parent makes a good family and what makes a
good family makes a good society and finally what makes a good society makes the world we live in a good one. Actually it is family where all the
social ills come from. It is family that predetermines what kind of society we will have tomorrow, because the society of tomorrow will be born to
and moulded in the family of today. So if we want to find out what makes a good parent and try to change the society we'll be living in we've got to
start right now. So let's start.
What makes a good parent? Many people think that it is impossible to answer this question, because what...show more content...
But as soon as children start feeling that their parents care too much, they try to get back at them and do just what their parents don't want them to do.
On the other hand kids who face lack of freedom may end up turning into introverts afraid to speak to other people or not as social (which is not a bad
thing though).
I believe that next thing any parent must not forget about is trust. Being consistent with your child is of paramount importance because that's how trust
is supported. Being consistent is not changing the rules half way through the game. Being consistent is not promising rewards that kids will never see.
Being consistent is not threatening punishment without carrying it through. From the very first day on Earth children put trust in their parents and it
must not be betrayed because once it is, once children find out they have been lied to, you will have to literally put yourself out to win it back.
Communication. Being able to communicate well builds confidence and charisma. Parents should not be afraid to talk to their children. They should
not jump down through their throat when they are curious about something either no matter how stupid it may seem. Parents should be able to look at
everyday things and events through the eyes of their children who are new in this world and have little knowledge of it. Everyday experiences can
give children a wonderful chance to explore and learn and it must not be taken from them by their

The Passive Voice Essay
The Passive Voice
The English language has two voices––the active and the passive. The active voice and the passive voice differ in that a passive verb phrase has an
additional auxiliary BE followed by an EN participle. In a sense, the English passive is "inflexible" when compared to the passive formation of other
languages. For example, some languages use word order, verb inflections, and impersonal constructions to form the passive voice. In their book, The
Grammar Book: ESL/EFL Teacher's Course, Celce–Murcia and Larson–Freeman demonstrate how the Bantu passive voice differs from the English

example, I can handle Mary is a sentence in the active voice which demonstrates the S–V–O pattern. However, S–V–O is not the only sentence pattern
of the English language; object–verb–subject (O–V–S) is an alternative pattern. For example, Mary, I can handle produces an O–V–S pattern.
In addition to the grammatical function of a sentence such as subject, verb, and object, each noun phrase in a sentence has a semantic role. Semantic
roles are discussed in Finegan and Besnier's chapter on semantics (171). Several of the semantic roles Finegan and Besnier list are: agent, patient,
experiencer, instrument, and locative (200). Therefore, when taking the sentence Americans join Chinese in their morning from the New York Times
Editorial Corpus, one can label Americans the agent, the responsible initiator of the action.
The above sentence, Americans join Chinese in their morning, has two focus positions, a main focus position and a secondary focus position. The
main focus is on

What is Stress? Essay
Stress is something that affects many people each and every day. Life is full of hassles, deadlines, frustrations, and demands. For some people stress
is so common it is a way of life. Stress can be very harmful and or helpful. It could help motivate you to meet a deadline and perform a task under
pressure. Stress can also be very harmful, such as memory problems, moodiness, aches and pains, and eating more or less.
So what is stress? Stress is a normal physical response that happens when you feel threatened or upset. When you feel that you are in danger whether
it is real or imaged. Your body has a response when stress occurs and it is a way of actually protecting you. Many times, stress helps people stay more

Stress can affect the mind, body, and behavior. These affects could cause your relationships with others can be affected with your girlfriend, parents, or
anyone else who is significant in your life.
Stress has many different symptoms the most often and most common is having a headache. On your body the effects of stress are muscle tension or
pain, chest pain, and fatigue. The effects of stress on your mood is anxiety, restlessness, and lack of motivation or focus. Finally, the effects of stress
on your behavior is overeating or under eating, drug or alcohol abuse, and social withdraw. Since anyone at any age can be stressed there is no
certain population that is effected the most. I would say that teenagers get stressed easily due to school, spots and or jobs. The thing that stresses
most high school student out is picking and choosing what they are going to do after high school and what college they will be going to if any.
People a little bit older after college could be stressed by trying to find a job or trying to find or support a family. Older people could be stressed if they
are running out of money but besides that older people are probably the least stressful people in are population.
Stress is not only affected in the work place and at home, it is also affected during sports. There is a ton of pressure in many high school sports
especially individual sports. Stress is the body's way of

Perspectives Essay Examples

  • 1. Perspectives Essay examples Perspectives Life Span & Introduction to Sociology PSYC–2314–S03 In class we have been discussing the analogy of perspectives. A perspective is a way of seeing, also thought of as a 'point of view'. This mental view or outlook can both enhance and constrain how we view the world in our own eyes. In the field of psychology and sociology there are many ways to perceive our world in which we live. No one perspective alone can define the world. Each perspective has its own distinctive strengths and blind spots. In class we have discussed different theories and analogies to better understand the complexity of perspectives. Perspectives will both facilitate and constrain perception. A good example of this statement is the Burke...show more content... Even when that one perspective may not be the most accurate way of viewing something in a particular situation, it can be tempting neglect other perspectives or "tools". The example given in class was Freud and his psychosexual theories. Freud believed that everything we did was a result of our sexual desires. Freud's only "tool", or perspective, was this belief , and he used it when viewing everything, even when it may have not been the best "tool for the job". Most of us have heard the term "seeing is believing", but in class we discussed that "believing is seeing". When you already believe something and have an idea implanted in your memory it will alter what you think you are seeing. In class we observed many slides of different pictures portraying how believing is seeing. One specific example from the slide show was one image that contained two completely different pictures depending on how you looked at the picture. Before showing us the image for the first time the pervious slide stated "Cowboys Crossing the Creek". When the image appeared you automatically saw cowboys on horses crossing a creek. Then we were shown a slide stating "Faces Everywhere". This time when the same exact image was shown for the second time, you saw faces everywhere in the image. This is because you already had an idea placed in your mind causing you to see what you already believe. Referring to the familiar Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Reflecting on My Past, Present, and Future Diana Koch Jones PSY 202 Laura Prout November 12, 2012 Outline Reflecting on My Past, Present, and Future Thesis Statement: Our past creates the foundation that brings us to our present. Throughout life we are faced with choices. Those choices determine what road we travel. The past cannot be changed, only learned from. What we choose to do with those lessons will determine how we live our present and by our choices within our present we can go anywhere we want to with our future. The choice is ours to make. I started out in a sales position with the goal of owning my own business and within a few years I was the owner of a lucrative cleaning company which afforded me the flexible schedule I desired and the income I needed to maintain the lifestyle I wanted. I never forgot what the most important things in life were even through my success. It's not what we become on the outside for those are things that are fleeting; it is what we are within ourselves that lasts a lifetime. I say that because things and people can be taken from us. The strength within will keep us going even when our world is falling apart. I married in June of 1984 and had my first son January of 1987. Life was good and it seemed like nothing could ever make that feeling disappear. I was grateful for my family and enjoyed the life we had. But just as I stated earlier that which is on the outside is fleeting, I experienced that first hand when I suffered through the death of my husband. I found myself alone, feeling abandoned and responsible for the life of my young son and not knowing what to do. I wish that on no one. I am grateful for the family I have for they were my strength when I had none left and they were my encouragement when I thought I had nothing left to give. I spoke of choices earlier and I faced a huge choice at that time in my life. I could have given up, embraced the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Best Day Essay : My Perfect Day Have you ever wondered what a perfect day would be like? An everyday routine starts to get annoying and boring, especially if you don't get a day off. At the moment, my routine is to wake up early, get ready for school, go to school, and after a long day come back home. From the time I get home which is around two in the afternoon and by the time I go to sleep, it all consists of doing homework. Sometimes I wish I can at least take a day off and relax, with having no worries. The idea of a perfect day for me should be a day to get rid of stress, and should be an unforgettable day. As the sun started to come out, I knew it was time to start my day. The perfect day that I've always dreamed of was going to be today. I looked at my ...show more content... In the meantime, while I was waiting for my food to get here I went to the kitchen to wash the dishes that I left in the morning. After my food got delivered I went back into my bed and started eating my orange chicken with rice. By that time, I was already in the fourth movie, all of a sudden it was really dark outside, but I was not scared at all, even though I was home alone. Now it was around ten at night and I had finished watching the Halloween series. I turned my tv off and started playing really loud music on my speaker. I knew it was nighttime and the neighbors might complain, but at the moment I didn't care about anything. I enjoy listening to depressing songs specially from Coldplay which gets me in the mood to cry. My eyes began to close so I turned my speaker off as well as the light and I went to sleep. At last, a perfect day for me should be different from any ordinary day, and should enjoy it like as if it was my last. I see a perfect day as not something outstanding, but more of like a lazy day. This day was one of the best days I've ever had because it's been forever since I've taken a break. Many people might do something like this on a regular day, but for me it was one of the days where I got to stay in bed, relax, and let all of the stress out. Days like this doesn't hurt and everyone has their own ideal day, but for me is all about being comfortable. As long as, I have a day off Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The land looked dry, destroyed and lonely. The morning breeze felt like crying sorrows, and the grey deceitful sky awed down at us. In the deepest corner of despair lies dystopia where hope dies. As someone looks through the eyes of the devil, they see his utopia. Only visible by the dim light of the moon was the great wall. Beyond the wall? No one knew. Stretching away from the wall was a humongous bridge that towered the wall. Standing tall on the bridge was a tower, which had two circles that almost looked like eyes. Those mysterious, creepy and dangerous looking eyes stared down at the city giving away a haunting look. The reek of death hangs in the air throughout the land. Filling the mouths of those who lived in this abandoned land was the taste of burnt garlic. The screams and cries of terror undistinguishable between beast and human fill the ears of the last ones living. The sky, which was lit by the glow of fires, is grey and empty. Decaying bodies and...show more content... As I walked, the air of this haunted, dreadful and sorrowful land had sucked the life out of everything and roared as humanity began to disappear. As I carried on walking, I noticed that the small fraction of light was getting smaller and smaller, until it had been engulfed into a think black ash like smoke. Aggressively, the wind walked past the building with its cruddy feeling, blowing away all signs of life. Deeper and deeper into the land was a burning car door. The fire roared and crackled. The roaring and crackling of the burning car door merged with the aggressive air and created the loudest sounds ever heard on land. Growing darker, the skies made me feel nauseous. The fear of not waking up if a human fell asleep towered Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Essay on My Day My Day I wake up every morning with a shock, my mum knocking at the door and shouting, "Time for a shower." I'm always tired in the mornings and find getting up for a shower really horrible, though it does a good job of waking me up and after it I'm ready for another day at school. Well that is what I think but I usually end up in bed asleep right up until 7.45 am. Luckily I have usually packed my school stuff the night before. My house is quite big and there is lots of room to get away from the rest of my family. I have a computer in my room and I spend quite a lot of time on ...show more content... Another couple of friends arrive at this house too and we all get together and walk to school. This walking to school together gives me a good opportunity to make after school arrangements. Once at school (the walk takes about 15 minutes) I go to my tutor base and catch up with my friends who don't walk to school with me. After a short rest I make my way to my first lesson on a Monday usually English. English requires a lot of work and its quite interesting. All year it's work, work, work, which is hardly surprising seeing that it's GCSE year. I'm going to need to work hard because qualifications are a necessary part of any career and I definitely want a career not just a job. After the first two lessons I usually eat my lunch. It may seem strange that I eat my lunch at break but it takes so much time queuing at lunchtime just so I can sit down and eat some food that I would rather eat my packed lunch early freeing up time at lunch for other activities. The only downside to this is that you have lots of people surrounding you begging for food. Most people would probably just say "No", but I have real problems with saying "No" and more often than not half my food is devoured by these hungry beasts. Once break is finished I work until the real lunch time and then I hang around the common room or go to the library and do Get more content on HelpWriting.net

One of the most exciting but yet scariest events would be graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed. Graduation is the end of high school, and the beginning to life. All the graduates had to meet in the high school library an hour before the ceremonies started, and I promised one of my best friends Tony that we would go together. I knocked on his back door and let myself in like I always do. All of his family members were running throughout the house trying to get ready. I asked his mom where Tony was and she proceeded to tell me that he was in the bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the mirror with his cap and gown on. He look me straight in the eyes and said," Can you believe that we are about to graduate?" I replied," No, it really hasn't set in yet." Tony finished getting ready, and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors' cars. Tony and I walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all ears. I couldn't help but look around at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke. Once the principal concluded his speech, the whole senior class paraded down the hallway to the commons in two uniform lines stopping just outside the gymnasium doors. We could hear the band warming up and playing songs. All the people that were standing around me were bubbling Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Essay about My Core Values Tamneicha Mcdavid Prof.Beck ENC 1101 July 30, 2009 Example Essay My Core Values As I have grown as an adult and moved further towards success in my life, I have always maintained a guided structure to achieve goals and tasks that challenge me. I call these my "Core Values". This is a strict regimen or a belief system that I have instilled into my everyday practice to complete any task that presents itself. Although not perfected, I have found this method to be quite successful. My work ethic, responsibility, and my drive to further my education and knowledge have never failed me. Life can seem tough and demanding on a very consistent basis, but I believe that I have cultivated a plan to accommodate and withstand any trial The first...show more content... To build responsibility as a child I volunteered to take care of my family dog. Even though she was the family's pet I took it upon myself to make sure she was properly fed, watered, and walked. My mother was very proud of my new development as an adolescent. She became very encouraging and would come up with other special chores around the house that I could be relied upon to handle. To some children this would seem like a punishment, but both of my parents were so supportive and persuasive that I looked forward to having the gained accountability. My father instituted honesty and respect as monuments for responsibility. I of course struggled at times with taking care of my dog, and handling some of my other chores. But my father always wanted me to not only be honest with my parents, but also with myself. He stated that a lie would not benefit anybody and it was disrespectful to tell a lie. He would tell me that a liar was the same as a cheater, and nobody liked either. If I knew how to respect others and be honest, than my responsibility would only increase. I asked why I would want added responsibility and my father told me two things that changed my perspective completely. First, it was that responsible people always tended to be more successful. Since I had always dreamed of growing up to be rich and famous, I guess I could accept the added responsibility. The second thing he told me was that one day I could possibly

  • 9. Minecraft Essay Minecraft is a game where the player uses their imagination to shape the world around them using the resources they find. In the world everything is shaped like a block or a cube, this includes the trees, the dirt, the water, the clouds, even the sun, everything. This simple game hasn't even been released yet but has already sold over one million copies. Minecraft was created by one man, Markus "Notch" Persson, and this is his story. What makes the story of Minecraft so unique is that it was created by Notch and only Notch. Notch had a job before Minecraft, working on games for a company. He started to work on Minecraft in his free time but after a giant popularity spike he realized that it could be a hit, so he quit his job and began ...show more content... The game sells around 10,000 copies per day. It has become a cultural phenomenon and on January 12, 2011 sales passed the one million mark, but they continued to rise. With popularity increasing, big name comics like "Penny Arcade" and "Hejibits" discovered the game too and published comic strips about minecraft, leading to even further sales. Minecraft makes $250,000 a day and continues to do so. On June 13, 2011, Minecraft passed 2.5 million sales. Today Mojang has 10 employees. Markus Persson, Jens Bergensten, Daniel Kaplan, Junkboy, Jakob Porser, Carl Manneh, Tobias Mollstam, Aron Neiminen, Daniel Frisk, and Daniel Rosenfeld. These few people make up the team that continues to work towards Minecraft's future. But with so few employees things take time. Even though the game has not been officially released, people who buy the game get a copy of what it is right now as the updates are being pushed out. With such success Mojang is the target of some heavy criticism from blogs, critics, and even their own fans. One speculation from fans is that Minecraft will be the company's 1 hit wonder. What happens if it truly is a one hit wonder? Will the company go down under? Will it be the end of Mojang? Will they join a publisher in order to stay afloat and lose their title of "indie?" Another speculation concerns Mojang's next game that has absolutely nothing to do with Minecraft, not even in the same genre. What if nobody likes the game? What Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Essay On I Am Malala The book "I am Malala" tells the story of eleven year old girl that campaigned and fought for woman's rights and for the Taliban to allow them to go to school. Malala had an extremely tight nit family bond along with very supportive parents. She always had their support especially from her father Ziauddin. I believe that if I had a daughter so young that wanted to make such a big difference in her country I would stand by her one–hundred percent and push her to set out her dreams. That is exactly what her parents did, they always encouraged her to do whatever she put her mind to even now in present day. Her father said since she was a baby that this child is special, and she was. If my child wanted to take a stand at eleven for woman's rights I would be shocked to say the least. I would've brushed it to the side and forgot about it. Malala had a very strong support base because I would not have let my child of eleven protest which she could have gotten killed for. Malala was brave, she even said she was not afraid to die. Most would have been more comfortable if she was "older" and "wiser". Which I think is a common misconception on young people. More seasoned people think that just because a child is young they cannot have a big voice or have an opinion on society because they have not experienced as many years on earth as them. Malala broke the mold and she protested what she felt was right, even though she ended up getting shot in the face for it. Was it worth it? I think it was worth it. In conclusion I support the fact that Malala's parents allowed her to fight for woman's rights, and to stand up for what she believed in. Persistence is an important trait to have as it allows one to push through adversity, accomplish tasks that they would not be able to if one did not have the trait of persistence. As defined by Merriam Webster Dictionary persistence means the quality that allows someone to continue doing something or trying to do something even though it is difficult or opposed by other people. They thought that the bullets would silence us. But they failed." Malala was shot in the head for continually pursuing her dream for equal education. She never quit fighting for what she believed in. Malala has always dreamed for equal education, she has taken this belief from her father. She always spoke out courageously for what she believed in. She was shot in the head because she is standing up against what the Taliban believe is right. She survived and is still pursuing her dream for education for girls. She used the trait of persistence by never giving up and striving to succeed in equal education. If she did not use persistence she would not have accomplished what she has. Most people after being shot would quit and say it is not worth it, she did not quit. Malala always worked hard to be the best in her class, she was not satisfied if she was not the one that all the teachers loved. She never quit and would work harder than everyone else. Malala is super competitive and has always wanted to be the best in her class. "I worked hard and had managed to regain my position on the school honor board for first in class." She is always working harder than others to achieve the best grade in the class. This shows how she is persistent on being the best. Persistence is one of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. My Teaching Philosophy Essay My Teaching Philosophy I believe that education extends far beyond the classroom walls, and involves many more people than students and teachers. People should be learning wherever they go, and should continue learning long after they've graduated from high school or college. Education isn't something that can be quantified with tests or report cards, but is instead something that people carry with them. It's a survival pack for life, and some people are better equipped in certain areas than in others. People with a solid education are prepared for nearly anything, as they will be able to provide for their own physical, emotional, and aesthetic needs. That being said, I also believe that a crucial part of education does...show more content... The roles of a teacher are so many and so varied that it is impossible to list them all, but one of the most important is preparing students to learn, not only in the classroom, but everywhere, and for the rest of their lives. Learning is not a skill that is necessarily instinctual or easy, and therefore different approaches must be used to make learning easier and more fun for students. Teaching is not a skill that can be memorized or made repetitive, and so teachers must continue to challenge not only their students, but also themselves. Teachers that become complacent in their jobs are not good teachers. Those who can find a way to make an old lesson new and exciting will have an energized classroom, and will be reenergized themselves. Every child is different. That sounds like an obvious statement, but so many ineffective teachers seem to forget this. Each student has his or her own varying abilities, talents, and levels of competence, and it is the job of a teacher not only to recognize this, but to help each student recognize this as well. If a child isn't doing well in a particular subject, both the teacher and the student should work towards figuring out why, and the teacher should accept the challenge of finding a way to make a particular subject more Get more content on HelpWriting.net

It is also a measure of success, or at least how much sacrifice one is willing to make in the name of success. As students, it is impossible to achieve personal success without having a goal, or direction. The goal and direction that often propels us to achieve is perseverance. Perseverance is the ability to forge ahead despite setbacks that threaten to undermine all efforts to succeed. Nelson Mandella once said, "The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time you fall." That is the essence of persevering––finding the will to get up even though you know you are being counted out. Each day is a challenge for some of us. Some of you struggle to get up each morning and make it to school. But you find it within yourself to do because the hope of a better tomorrow compels you to do so. It is not easy to explain to teachers or other students that there was no one to wake you up and see that you were ready for school. The moment you leave your house and step on the bus, you are one step closer to realizing your dream, to fulfilling your purpose. That is what perseverance is. It is the finding the strength to do the impossible because you know that all things are possible. It is understanding that your tomorrow has great possibilities because of the steps you take today. It is the state or quality of being dedicated and maintaining an attitude of someone who works extremely hard to do or support something. I have been active in my school's track and field and field hockey team. In addition, I play guitar and piano for my own personal enjoyment and have participated in many of my school's musicals. People have always tired to find out the answer, because what makes a good parent makes a good family and what makes a good family makes a good society and finally what makes a good society makes the world we live in a good one. Actually it is family where all the social ills come from. It is family that predetermines what kind of society we will have tomorrow, because the society of tomorrow will be born to and moulded in the family of today. So if we want to find out what makes a good parent and try to change the society we'll be living in we've got to start right now. So let's start. What makes a good parent? But as soon as children start feeling that their parents care too much, they try to get back at them and do just what their parents don't want them to do. On the other hand kids who face lack of freedom may end up turning into introverts afraid to speak to other people or not as social (which is not a bad thing though). I believe that next thing any parent must not forget about is trust. Being consistent with your child is of paramount importance because that's how trust is supported. Being consistent is not changing the rules half way through the game. Being consistent is not promising rewards that kids will never see. Being consistent is not threatening punishment without carrying it through. From the very first day on Earth children put trust in their parents and it must not be betrayed because once it is, once children find out they have been lied to, you will have to literally put yourself out to win it back. Communication. Being able to communicate well builds confidence and charisma. Parents should not be afraid to talk to their children. They should not jump down through their throat when they are curious about something either no matter how stupid it may seem. • 18. The Passive Voice Essay The Passive Voice The English language has two voices––the active and the passive. The active voice and the passive voice differ in that a passive verb phrase has an additional auxiliary BE followed by an EN participle. In a sense, the English passive is "inflexible" when compared to the passive formation of other languages. For example, some languages use word order, verb inflections, and impersonal constructions to form the passive voice. In their book, The Grammar Book: ESL/EFL Teacher's Course, Celce–Murcia and Larson–Freeman demonstrate how the Bantu passive voice differs from the English passive voice. "Kingarwanda, a Bantu language, can make even a locative phrase the subject of the passive as in On the bus was eaten a...show more content... In order to better understand the usage rules of the English passive voice, it is necessary to begin by examining the most common grammatical function order of English sentences, subject–verb–object. Active and passive sentences Subject–verb–object (S–V–O) is the basic structure of English sentences and defines the grammatical function order of active voice sentences. For example, I can handle Mary is a sentence in the active voice which demonstrates the S–V–O pattern. However, S–V–O is not the only sentence pattern of the English language; object–verb–subject (O–V–S) is an alternative pattern. For example, Mary, I can handle produces an O–V–S pattern. In addition to the grammatical function of a sentence such as subject, verb, and object, each noun phrase in a sentence has a semantic role. Semantic roles are discussed in Finegan and Besnier's chapter on semantics (171). Several of the semantic roles Finegan and Besnier list are: agent, patient, experiencer, instrument, and locative (200). Therefore, when taking the sentence Americans join Chinese in their morning from the New York Times Editorial Corpus, one can label Americans the agent, the responsible initiator of the action.
