Responsibility Essay
Summary The relationship between people and the environment has always been about ones level of responsibility. No matter what your belief, each
and every one of us is responsible for how we use the resources this planet provides. Personal Responsibility Webster's definition of environment is, "the
complex of physical, chemical, and biotic factors (as climate, soil, and living things) that act upon an organism or an ecological community and
ultimately determine its form and survival"(http://www.merriam–webster.com/dictionary/environment). There is a working relationship between the
environment and the human race. Resources, such as timber and oil for housing and heat, soil for farming, animals for food and for research...show

excellent option for families as it helps to reduce the amount of waste produced. Families can conserve energy by managing their energy use effectively
and purchasing energy efficient products. There is a wide variety of opportunities for families to be able to make their homes more environmentally

essay, "What is man's responsibility to the environment?" says, "In order to understand our responsibility, it is important to comprehend the original
relationship between man and nature. Genesis 1:26–28 tells us that God created man and woman in His image and gave them dominion over all the
earth. This included all the animals that God had created as well as the entire earth. God also charged their descendants with the care for all the earth
(Gen. 1:28). Even after the curse, God never withdrew this responsibility. We must care for the world that God has given to us. Although Scriptures are
in general agreement with many of the ecology groups that man is responsible for his environment, Christians may disagree

A lot of the dilemmas that arise in the professional world fall into the gray area. Not knowing how to properly respond to the dilemmas will lead to
wrong decisions that sometimes end a person's career. Learning about professional responsibility allows me to gain an exposure to the dilemmas that
I may encounter at the workplace. In modules one and two, I have learned to identify my values and define professional responsibility through
readings and class activities. My five core values are honesty, respect, perseverance, kindness, and passion. For me, honesty and respect are the most
important ones, because I strongly believe in the Golden Rule. It is only through honesty that trust can be built upon. Mutual respect is about being
nonjudgmental about the differences between another individual and I. Though I may not agree with another person's beliefs or life choices, I still
refrain from making criticisms on the thoughts or actions of another, and I want to be treated the same way. It is especially important to show respect
to those with a medial job, because some people often forget that they are still active contributors to the well–being of the society. In addition, I believe
that nobody is entitled to his or her success. Perseverance keeps me working diligently toward my goals. Sometimes the tasks are dull, but I will not
easily give up if they bring benefits to me at the end. A simple act of kindness does not require much effort, but it can make someone else's life

in college, you have to apply your life learned lessons to the equation, to balance both school and out of school priorities. Because You are

Because I did not want to let my boss down, I would get into this zone, where I would not see or hear anyone, and prepare to execute my
excitement because under pressure and much stress, I completed my task. The negative stress in your life could be hard to eliminate if you do not
find a positive replacement. According to Lucas McCain (2012),"Stress Management: 101 Best Ways to Relieve Stress and Really Live Life" (pg 64)
" The important thing here is to find your particular negative coping strategy and address your stress, and replace your strategy with a positive one that
address that same stress." Self– Discipline and scheduling effectively are critical factors when it comes to successfully managing your time. Having
self–discipline is a vital necessity, when you are preparing for college success. Deciding to study for an important exam, or hanging out with friends,
will need to be carefully decided. If you chose the obvious, Studying, you'd eliminate unwanted stress like, cramming days before the exam. Being
self–Disciplined means you have control over your behavior and you do not make decisions on impulse, instead you make your decisions logically.

What Is Responsibility Essay
Responsibility Essay
Responsibility in a person is a must as they can be more trusting and dependable if they have even the slightest amount of responsibility unlike those
who don't have any they can be lacking in many things and most people will see them as drags on society. Not only that, but they seem to have
negative impressions with everyone else as they do not really help contribute to the betterment of mankind but that is how most people act in today's
world. But they still seem to go on and make the best of the day that they can. Responsibility is hard for a lot of people, it puts stress on you and makes
people think you're dependent so they might start asking more from you. That saying, my life would be much better than it already is if I took
reasonability for my Self in more ways than one.
Firstly, I would be more active and would have my stuff done more often than I do now and that would free me up for other things to do and...show

I would be able to come through on my promises to people and help them with whatever they need help with. Say my friend across the street needs me
to watch his house while he is gone, he is putting a huge responsibility on my shoulders. Now if I were more responsible this would be no problem, but
at the moment my friend most likely would be uneasy about letting me watch his house. Another thing if I was more responsible I could help my
community and make sure it is a better place to live. This would not only be beneficial to others, but my self–esteem may be raised by this effort.
Finally, I would have more friends and maybe be more popular than I already am as I could be more outgoing and adventure out of my safe zone so
I may get noticed more often. Another quote from Brian Tracy was "Impressionable people trot out there excuses and get off the hook" and this is
quite true as people who are given

Personal Responsibility To be successful in college one must be personally responsible for their actions. Personal responsibility is having integrity, and
taking accountability for his or her actions. Doing the right thing and making ethical choices will demonstrate being personally responsible and will
result in a successful college experience.
Personal responsibility is taking ownership of their thoughts and actions (Stockdale and Brockett, 2011). Personal responsibility to me is having
integrity. What I mean by this is being trust worthy to do the right thing, all the time. For example, plagiarizing work, if someone is trustworthy they

By organizing I can set the steps in each category, short, intermediate, and long term, with each step leading toward my ultimate long termgoal. After
all isn 't that what we all want, to set ourselves up to reach the ultimate long term goal. Once I have organized my goals, I will then prioritize them.
I will rank all of my goals in the order in which I want to accomplish them. I will start with the most immediate goal first and work my way to my
ultimate goal. For example, the most immediate goal for me is to obtain my degree. My next goal would be to retire from the Marine Corps once I
have twenty years of service. My ultimate goal might be to retire by the time I am fifty five and move to a tropical area, whatever the goal is I will
set myself up to reach it. By prioritizing my goals, my decision making will be made very easy based on the order in which I want to reach all of
the goals that I have set. Next I will accept the responsibility of completing all of my assignments in a timely manner, which will enable me to reach
one of my goals. Once the first goal is met then off to the next. By being personally responsibility and making the best decisions for me, I will
ultimately reach the goals that I have set for myself.
In concluding, personal responsibility to me is being true to yourself and sticking to your morals. Being accountable for your actions

Personal Responsibility
To be successful you must be responsible for your actions. Personal responsibility is having integrity, and taking ownership for your actions. Doing the
right thing will demonstrate being personally responsible and will result in a successful experience in life.
Personal responsibility is taking ownership of your thoughts and actions. To me, personal responsibility is having integrity. What I mean by this is
being trustworthy, to do the right thing all the time. For example, plagiarizing work, if someone is trustworthy they will do their own work, rather
than copy someone else's and turning that work in for a grade. If someone is to have integrity, they will also report any wrong doings that they are
aware of. If you know of someone that is cheating or plagiarizing and you do not report the incident, you are just as much at fault as the other person.
Above would be another example of what I believe personal responsibility means, doing the right thing even though it may not be the popular thing to
do. Accountability is another trait of being personally responsible. Being accountable means not blaming others for your choices or lack of choices. If
you choose not to complete an assignment it is your own fault and there is no one to blame but...show more content...

Essay on The Effects Of Power On Responsibility
The Effects of Power on Responsibility
Power and responsibility have a complex relationship that is connected by factors such as a person's morals and ethics, personality, and under what
conditions the person was raised. In a world where power can be found in many forms and in many places, the use and abuse of power can be seen
regularly. Power is not just being the CEO of a fortune five–hundred company, or being an elected political representative, the manager of Taco Bell
has power, as well as parents as they raise their children. These are the people who have the most influence on how power is used, and if it is used with

But who is to say that the Lance Armstrong, pre–six Tour–de–France victories would not have wanted to make a foundation for cancer? He simply did
not have the power to start a foundation for cancer. But once he gained the power, it gave him a means to the end. Often we have ideas that would
show great amounts of responsibility, but simply cannot put them into action because we do not have power, and in this way power has a great effect
on responsibility. Power does not always change a person's morals or responsibility, it just gives them the opportunity to achieve greater things that they
may not have been able to accomplish before they gained their power.
An increase in responsibility will change a person's use of power because they may do things for the good of other people that are not necessarily
looking out for themselves. In the case of Staff Sgt. Frank D. Wuterich, his level of responsibility was increased when he became the man in charge
of a squad of marines. Many people believe that his actions were crimes against humanity, but in his situation he used his power responsibly to try to
heel the men he was responsibly for alive. An article by Josh White of the Washington Post says:
Staff Sgt. Frank D. Wuterich, 26, told his attorney that several civilians were killed Nov. 19 when his squad went after insurgents who were

Responsibility In The Crucible
"You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today."– Abraham Lincoln Responsibility is a huge part of a person's everyday life.
Generally most people will take responsibility for their actions. In Arthur Miller's The Crucible the theme of responsibility is spread positively
throughout the play. The play focuses around the Salem Witch, where Abigail Williams, her friends, the Proctors and a few others are the main focus.
John Proctor is married to Elizabeth Proctor. Abigail Williams was their maid for many months before Elizabeth kicked her out. John had cheated on
his wife with Abigail, and Elizabeth had somehow found out. He knows what he's done was wrong, but some nights he finds himself outside of
Abigail's window. Abigail knows this. She becomes obsessed with him and the idea that they're going to be together. "But I will cut off my hand
before I reach for you again." (pg 839). John realizes what he's done is wrong, and tells Abigail they can no longer be together. He's starting to...show

While in court one day, she sews a poppet for Elizabeth and leaves her needle in there. Abigail sees this and later at dinner, she stabs herself with a
needle and accuses Elizabeth of doing so. This results into the police going to the Proctor household and questioning Mary about the doll. "Why, I
meant no harm by it, sir." Mary admits that the doll is hers, and tells Cheever that the cries of witchery are all pretense. This all leads to John
convincing her to tell the truth. Mary tries to take responsibility, to help, but nobody believed her. Even though she did take responsibility for her
actions, Mary had to lie in the end to save herself. The Crucible shows responsibility in both negative and positive ways. This theme plays a huge part
in the story. A lot of the characters really developed and learned that sometimes they have to take responsibility for their actions. Even if it hurts

What Does It Mean To Be Responsible Essay

Responsibility means to be accountable, and I can be trusted. It means I have can manage how you act. This means I can own up to what I did.
This day was my day to own up, and say what I did wrong. On Mondays, students go to school looking like zombies. The teachers are looking extremely
irritable. In the classrooms there was no energy. Monday was the worst Monday of the year so far. My Monday went from bad to worse.I'm patiently
waiting for my bus to get to my house so I can go get some food and go to sleep. As soon as my bus comes to a halt I start to pat my pants for my key.

The ultimate word in life is "responsibility". What is responsibility you ask? Responsibility is "doing the right thing". Doing the right thing means
living a life where every move or decision you make is all your own and you do things that will not harm others. It is a moral belief that as
individuals we must behave ethical and be accountable for our actions, and be conscious of our decisions and the impact it has on society. In today's
world I believe we have even more responsibilities then our ancestors. If we do not take responsibility for our actions...show more content...
So many people believe freedom means you have the right to do as you please, however, that is not 100% true. As soon as you stop taking
responsibility for what you do in life, it is almost certain you will be doing things that will be harmful to others. This is why it is so important to
have laws that society must abide by. As an example, let's say you are having a get together and you have you stereo on a little too loud. To you and
the people attending your party the music is just fine, but to your neighbors it is entirely too loud and disruptive. Wouldn't you be a responsible person
if you made sure that the music was loud enough for you and your guests to enjoy, but not too loud that it would annoy your neighbors? Responsibility

When one recognizes that they are 100% responsible for their life, they will soon see the great achievements that come with being a responsible
person. Responsibility is a very valuable trait in all that we do. Taking responsibility for one's self leads to a more optimistic life and one is able to
accomplish all that they want. Sometimes taking responsibility can be a very difficult thing, but in the end one is usually happy that they did. If one

Although personal responsibility is a perception of ideas or standards established by society, personal success depends upon personal responsibility
because it promotes accountability and also reflects on the accountability in our professional lives.
Upholding personal responsibility is the key to success in any type of environment. It is the commitment to ourselves telling us to get out of bed to
get ready for work or to go to class. On the other hand, personal responsibility is the acceptance of failure to accomplish the task that we are obligated
to. As a college level student, we know...show more content...
The last element I want to discuss because I believe it is the most important concerning personal responsibility, is attitude. Possessing a positive attitude
holds everything together. "Attitude represents that connection between mind, heart, and body" (Ursiny, DeMoss, & Ybaben, 2008). You can possess
every other kind of quality and apply whatever kind of strategy you like but without a positive attitude you will get nowhere. Every day we come
across conflict and deal with negative people who will try to make you feel less attractive, less intelligent, and lesser of just about everything. This
kind of negativity spreads like wild fire. Refrain from too much exposure to this and keep in mind other people do not dictate the outcome of your
life. Positive attitudes do not come easy though. It is a training process of the mind. Every day, the moment you open your eyes tell yourself this
will be a good day full of learning and meeting new people and ask yourself "how will I better myself and those around me today?" Keep this type of
thinking in mind and be the positive influence where ever you are and people to take notice. They will be more likely to help you, want to work with
you and be wherever you are. Even if for nobody else, you owe it to yourself to have a positive attitude and to enjoy all endeavors of life.
In conclusion, although personal responsibility is broad term used to describe a set of standards, by

Short Stories : Personal Responsibility
Do you feel an obligation to think about other people's welfare? If you do, how far does that responsibility extend? Are you responsible for a sibling,
a neighbor, or even a stranger across the world? The short stories I read help me think about the world around me and enlighten my understanding of
my personal responsibility to others. First, these short stories show personal responsibility by describing to what degree we are responsible for the
weaker or oppressed members of society. Second, the short stories I read helped me think about to what extent should we be driven by personal
responsibility to act with compassion, empathy, and concern for others. Finally, short stories exemplify how we are personally responsible for our
friends and how we live our own lives.
First, short stories show personal responsibility by describing to what degree we are responsible for the weaker or oppressed members of
society.Throughout the short stories, I have seen how the weaker and oppressed member of society are being helped. For example, in the short story, the
"Scarlet Ibis", the narrator has a responsibility, given to him by his mother, to help his younger brother who cannot care for himself. As the narrator
says in the story, "It seemed so hopeless from the beginning that it's a miracle I didn't give up. But all of us must have something or someone to be
proud of, and Doodle had become mine. I did not know then that pride is a wonderful, terrible thing, a seed that bears two

Responsibility means being responsible, or accountable for something within one's power, control, or management. We first need to be responsible

responsible is sign of having good character. Irresponsible people often break the rules, causing injury to themselves or others. Some examples of
responsibility is being on time, being prepared, and managing your time wisely. The importance of being on time indicates that you honor your
commitments and you can be responsible. It also shows that you have respect for other people and that you care as much about their time as your

Responsibility Actuality
College students are plagued by too much time on their hands. The average college stereotype is kids who spend too much money, drink too much
booze, and party too hard. While this isn't true of all college students, as many work very hard to get good grades, get degrees, and have a life, it's
true of enough of them that the stereotype does prove itself true quite often. This is the problem that Dave Eggers postulates a way of solving in his
essay Serve Or Fail. Eggers' idea of making public service volunteering a mandatory part of your college education is brilliant and would no doubt aid
in many areas of College student's lives.
According to Eggers, "...students saw [...] hours in need of killing – as opposed to...show more content...
There's the chance as well that the student, perhaps someone with an undecided major, will encounter something that will help them make their
decision once and for all. Maybe, as Eggers says, "A college history major might learn something by tutoring a local middle school class that's studying
the Underground Railroad. A connection would be forged; a potential career might be discovered" (584). But perhaps beyond that, having that sort of
practical experience will aid students in other ways – preparing them for life beyond college in a way that none of them are currently. Eggers says,
"...while colleges give their students the intellectual tools for life beyond campus, they largely ignore the part about how they might contribute to the
world. That is, until the commencement speech, at which time all the "go forth's" and "be helpful's" happen" (585).
So perhaps instituting a mandatory service for graduation program would do more than simply give the students something nice to go on their resumes
– but perhaps it would also aid them in deciding on a major or even a career. In other words, it would help ensure their future once they're out of
college and into the "real world."
Such programs are already in place in many institutes of higher education, and even in high schools. And in 2003, Michael R. Veon, a Democrat and a
member of Pennsylvania's House Of representatives, introduced a bill

Responsibility, It Is Personal
The term Personal responsibility can be defined in many ways, yet there is no one definite definition. To be personally responsible, one would first
have to have the ability to be accountable for ones actions. Everyone is raised in their own unique atmosphere, and the levels of responsibility
introduced during that upbringing will vary largely. For some people, the concept of personal responsibility will be introduced at a very young age,
for example a young child learning to play a musical instrument, or competing in a dance performance. Other children will learn personal responsibility

When one fails to take personal responsibility for their education, it can lead to receiving a failing grade for the course, suspension, and even
expulsion. Taking personal responsibility for one's education is more than attending class. You must be responsible for understanding the intended
objective of the class, or classes. You must be responsible for submitting your work, and assuring that that work is not plagiarized. You must also be
responsible for preparing for exams. When some or all of these areas are neglected, one is due to fail in completing their education.
Unfortunately, when one fails to meet the obligations of fulfilling their duties as a student, it can affect their financial aid. This is also an ongoing
problem within our education systems today. If a student defaults on their school loans, they become another digit in the statistics of loan default. Once
a school district reaches a certain level, the opportunity for another student to receive financial assistance ceases. "More than 66 percent of loan volume
issued through the federal guaranteed–student–loan program to students at Bennett in the 2006 fiscal year went through Sallie Mae, according to data
compiled by Student Marketmeasure." (Hermes, 2008).
Even though we need to ask for help when we cannot be responsible, it is everyone's responsibility to acquire needed assistance. Without personal
responsibility, we cannot achieve greatness and when we fail to be

down in the tool room so that I can go grab a couple of things from one of the tricons. When I did this, I had lost visual contact of my weapon while
it was unsecure. Because my weapon was unsecure, someone walking by saw it and had grabbed it. When I got back from the tricons, I had noticed
that my weapon was...show more content...
I had lost accountability of my weapon and therefor failed the mission. I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in
my warrior tasks and drills; This was not me being disciplined or mentally tough at all. I failed to be proficient in my tasks and drills by losing my
weapon. I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself; Maintaining my arms doesn 't just mean that I keep them in good working
condition, it also means that I 'll maintain accountbility of them. By losing accountability of my weapon I was not maintaining my arms. I am an
expert and I am a professional; As an expert and a professional, I am expected to have a certain degree of responsibility and accountability of
myself, my actions, my equipment, and other soldiers. When you lose accountability of something, in this case my weapon, it is hard for others
to see you as being a responsible soldier. If others dont see you as someone who can be responsible or accountable, it 's hard to be considered a
professional by your fellow soldiers. I am an American Soldier; Being an American Soldier means living the Soldiers Creed. When you fail to live
any part of the Soldiers Creed, you fail to maintain the image of an American Soldier. This can have a negative effect on the soldiers around you if
they feel that you are creating a bad image for the rest of them. Duty; Doing

Personal Responsibility Key to College Success

  • 1. Responsibility Essay Summary The relationship between people and the environment has always been about ones level of responsibility. No matter what your belief, each and every one of us is responsible for how we use the resources this planet provides. Personal Responsibility Webster's definition of environment is, "the complex of physical, chemical, and biotic factors (as climate, soil, and living things) that act upon an organism or an ecological community and ultimately determine its form and survival"(http://www.merriam–webster.com/dictionary/environment). There is a working relationship between the environment and the human race. Resources, such as timber and oil for housing and heat, soil for farming, animals for food and for research...show more content... Families can plant their own fruit and vegetable gardens and trees in order to reduce pesticides and pollution caused by distribution. Recycling is an excellent option for families as it helps to reduce the amount of waste produced. Families can conserve energy by managing their energy use effectively and purchasing energy efficient products. There is a wide variety of opportunities for families to be able to make their homes more environmentally friendly and positively contribute to worldwide green initiative" (http://thegreenblogger.com/going–green/Humans–have–a–responsibility–to– take–proper–care–of–the–planet–in–order–to–ensure–preservation–and– conservation–for–present–and–future–inhabitants). Mark Van Bebber, in his essay, "What is man's responsibility to the environment?" says, "In order to understand our responsibility, it is important to comprehend the original relationship between man and nature. Genesis 1:26–28 tells us that God created man and woman in His image and gave them dominion over all the earth. This included all the animals that God had created as well as the entire earth. God also charged their descendants with the care for all the earth (Gen. 1:28). Even after the curse, God never withdrew this responsibility. We must care for the world that God has given to us. Although Scriptures are in general agreement with many of the ecology groups that man is responsible for his environment, Christians may disagree Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. A lot of the dilemmas that arise in the professional world fall into the gray area. Not knowing how to properly respond to the dilemmas will lead to wrong decisions that sometimes end a person's career. Learning about professional responsibility allows me to gain an exposure to the dilemmas that I may encounter at the workplace. In modules one and two, I have learned to identify my values and define professional responsibility through readings and class activities. My five core values are honesty, respect, perseverance, kindness, and passion. For me, honesty and respect are the most important ones, because I strongly believe in the Golden Rule. It is only through honesty that trust can be built upon. Mutual respect is about being nonjudgmental about the differences between another individual and I. Though I may not agree with another person's beliefs or life choices, I still refrain from making criticisms on the thoughts or actions of another, and I want to be treated the same way. It is especially important to show respect to those with a medial job, because some people often forget that they are still active contributors to the well–being of the society. In addition, I believe that nobody is entitled to his or her success. Perseverance keeps me working diligently toward my goals. Sometimes the tasks are dull, but I will not easily give up if they bring benefits to me at the end. A simple act of kindness does not require much effort, but it can make someone else's life Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay about WhatĐ’Ň‘s Personal Responsibility Personal responsibility to me means taking accountability for your own actions, Making a commitment and sticking to it. In order to be a success in college, you have to apply your life learned lessons to the equation, to balance both school and out of school priorities. Because You are responsible for the choices you make, you are ultimately responsible for your success. Becoming a master organizer and learning how to manage your time efficiently, will help you achieve your goals. Taking responsibility for all that happens while you are in college will help you prevail in areas, where you may have lacked confidence. Critical thinking and a desire to succeed will help you accomplish your goals. When it comes to our personal and...show more content... Because I did not want to let my boss down, I would get into this zone, where I would not see or hear anyone, and prepare to execute my excitement because under pressure and much stress, I completed my task. The negative stress in your life could be hard to eliminate if you do not find a positive replacement. According to Lucas McCain (2012),"Stress Management: 101 Best Ways to Relieve Stress and Really Live Life" (pg 64) " The important thing here is to find your particular negative coping strategy and address your stress, and replace your strategy with a positive one that address that same stress." Self– Discipline and scheduling effectively are critical factors when it comes to successfully managing your time. Having self–discipline is a vital necessity, when you are preparing for college success. Deciding to study for an important exam, or hanging out with friends, will need to be carefully decided. If you chose the obvious, Studying, you'd eliminate unwanted stress like, cramming days before the exam. Being self–Disciplined means you have control over your behavior and you do not make decisions on impulse, instead you make your decisions logically. Accomplish everything you can complete today and do not put it off for tomorrow. Creating an effective schedule will be a helpful tool when it comes to your college success. • 4. What Is Responsibility Essay Responsibility Essay Responsibility in a person is a must as they can be more trusting and dependable if they have even the slightest amount of responsibility unlike those who don't have any they can be lacking in many things and most people will see them as drags on society. Not only that, but they seem to have negative impressions with everyone else as they do not really help contribute to the betterment of mankind but that is how most people act in today's world. But they still seem to go on and make the best of the day that they can. Responsibility is hard for a lot of people, it puts stress on you and makes people think you're dependent so they might start asking more from you. That saying, my life would be much better than it already is if I took reasonability for my Self in more ways than one. Firstly, I would be more active and would have my stuff done more often than I do now and that would free me up for other things to do and...show more content... I would be able to come through on my promises to people and help them with whatever they need help with. Say my friend across the street needs me to watch his house while he is gone, he is putting a huge responsibility on my shoulders. Now if I were more responsible this would be no problem, but at the moment my friend most likely would be uneasy about letting me watch his house. Another thing if I was more responsible I could help my community and make sure it is a better place to live. This would not only be beneficial to others, but my self–esteem may be raised by this effort. Finally, I would have more friends and maybe be more popular than I already am as I could be more outgoing and adventure out of my safe zone so I may get noticed more often. Another quote from Brian Tracy was "Impressionable people trot out there excuses and get off the hook" and this is quite true as people who are given Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Personal Responsibility Personal Responsibiliy Essay William Challenor Gen/200 12 Mar 2012 Felicia Winborne Personal Responsibility To be successful in college one must be personally responsible for their actions. Personal responsibility is having integrity, and taking accountability for his or her actions. Doing the right thing and making ethical choices will demonstrate being personally responsible and will result in a successful college experience. Personal responsibility is taking ownership of their thoughts and actions (Stockdale and Brockett, 2011). Personal responsibility to me is having integrity. What I mean by this is being trust worthy to do the right thing, all the time. For example, plagiarizing work, if someone is trustworthy they ...show more content... By organizing I can set the steps in each category, short, intermediate, and long term, with each step leading toward my ultimate long termgoal. After all isn 't that what we all want, to set ourselves up to reach the ultimate long term goal. Once I have organized my goals, I will then prioritize them. I will rank all of my goals in the order in which I want to accomplish them. I will start with the most immediate goal first and work my way to my ultimate goal. For example, the most immediate goal for me is to obtain my degree. My next goal would be to retire from the Marine Corps once I have twenty years of service. My ultimate goal might be to retire by the time I am fifty five and move to a tropical area, whatever the goal is I will set myself up to reach it. By prioritizing my goals, my decision making will be made very easy based on the order in which I want to reach all of the goals that I have set. Next I will accept the responsibility of completing all of my assignments in a timely manner, which will enable me to reach one of my goals. Once the first goal is met then off to the next. By being personally responsibility and making the best decisions for me, I will ultimately reach the goals that I have set for myself. In concluding, personal responsibility to me is being true to yourself and sticking to your morals. Being accountable for your actions

Personal responsibility is having integrity, and taking ownership for your actions. Doing the right thing will demonstrate being personally responsible and will result in a successful experience in life. Personal responsibility is taking ownership of your thoughts and actions. To me, personal responsibility is having integrity. What I mean by this is being trustworthy, to do the right thing all the time. For example, plagiarizing work, if someone is trustworthy they will do their own work, rather than copy someone else's and turning that work in for a grade. If someone is to have integrity, they will also report any wrong doings that they are aware of. If you know of someone that is cheating or plagiarizing and you do not report the incident, you are just as much at fault as the other person. Above would be another example of what I believe personal responsibility means, doing the right thing even though it may not be the popular thing to do. Accountability is another trait of being personally responsible. Being accountable means not blaming others for your choices or lack of choices. If you choose not to complete an assignment it is your own fault and there is no one to blame but...show more content... Being accountable for your actions or lack of actions will show that you are responsible. Without being responsible you will not be successful in college, which means that the best decisions for you were not made. You must relate responsibility to success in college as well as in society. All in all, if you follow you are a responsible individual there in nothing that you cannot accomplish. By planning to succeed you are already on the right Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Essay on The Effects Of Power On Responsibility The Effects of Power on Responsibility Power and responsibility have a complex relationship that is connected by factors such as a person's morals and ethics, personality, and under what conditions the person was raised. In a world where power can be found in many forms and in many places, the use and abuse of power can be seen regularly. Power is not just being the CEO of a fortune five–hundred company, or being an elected political representative, the manager of Taco Bell has power, as well as parents as they raise their children. These are the people who have the most influence on how power is used, and if it is used with responsibility. In the United states there are five–hundred and thirty–five congressmen, a president, and a...show more content... But who is to say that the Lance Armstrong, pre–six Tour–de–France victories would not have wanted to make a foundation for cancer? He simply did not have the power to start a foundation for cancer. But once he gained the power, it gave him a means to the end. Often we have ideas that would show great amounts of responsibility, but simply cannot put them into action because we do not have power, and in this way power has a great effect on responsibility. Power does not always change a person's morals or responsibility, it just gives them the opportunity to achieve greater things that they may not have been able to accomplish before they gained their power. An increase in responsibility will change a person's use of power because they may do things for the good of other people that are not necessarily looking out for themselves. In the case of Staff Sgt. Frank D. Wuterich, his level of responsibility was increased when he became the man in charge of a squad of marines. Many people believe that his actions were crimes against humanity, but in his situation he used his power responsibly to try to heel the men he was responsibly for alive. • 9. Responsibility In The Crucible "You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today."– Abraham Lincoln Responsibility is a huge part of a person's everyday life. Generally most people will take responsibility for their actions. In Arthur Miller's The Crucible the theme of responsibility is spread positively throughout the play. The play focuses around the Salem Witch, where Abigail Williams, her friends, the Proctors and a few others are the main focus. John Proctor is married to Elizabeth Proctor. Abigail Williams was their maid for many months before Elizabeth kicked her out. John had cheated on his wife with Abigail, and Elizabeth had somehow found out. He knows what he's done was wrong, but some nights he finds himself outside of Abigail's window. Abigail knows this. She becomes obsessed with him and the idea that they're going to be together. "But I will cut off my hand before I reach for you again." (pg 839). John realizes what he's done is wrong, and tells Abigail they can no longer be together. He's starting to...show more content... While in court one day, she sews a poppet for Elizabeth and leaves her needle in there. Abigail sees this and later at dinner, she stabs herself with a needle and accuses Elizabeth of doing so. This results into the police going to the Proctor household and questioning Mary about the doll. "Why, I meant no harm by it, sir." Mary admits that the doll is hers, and tells Cheever that the cries of witchery are all pretense. This all leads to John convincing her to tell the truth. Mary tries to take responsibility, to help, but nobody believed her. Even though she did take responsibility for her actions, Mary had to lie in the end to save herself. The Crucible shows responsibility in both negative and positive ways. This theme plays a huge part in the story. A lot of the characters really developed and learned that sometimes they have to take responsibility for their actions. Even if it hurts Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Responsibility means to be accountable, and I can be trusted. It means I have can manage how you act. This means I can own up to what I did. This day was my day to own up, and say what I did wrong. On Mondays, students go to school looking like zombies. The teachers are looking extremely irritable. In the classrooms there was no energy. Monday was the worst Monday of the year so far. My Monday went from bad to worse.I'm patiently waiting for my bus to get to my house so I can go get some food and go to sleep. As soon as my bus comes to a halt I start to pat my pants for my key. Definition Essay Karen Bannan Writing 101 Professor Leone January 30, 2011 Responsibility Page 2 The ultimate word in life is "responsibility". What is responsibility you ask? Responsibility is "doing the right thing". Doing the right thing means living a life where every move or decision you make is all your own and you do things that will not harm others. It is a moral belief that as individuals we must behave ethical and be accountable for our actions, and be conscious of our decisions and the impact it has on society. In today's world I believe we have even more responsibilities then our ancestors. If we do not take responsibility for our actions...show more content... So many people believe freedom means you have the right to do as you please, however, that is not 100% true. As soon as you stop taking responsibility for what you do in life, it is almost certain you will be doing things that will be harmful to others. This is why it is so important to have laws that society must abide by. As an example, let's say you are having a get together and you have you stereo on a little too loud. To you and the people attending your party the music is just fine, but to your neighbors it is entirely too loud and disruptive. Wouldn't you be a responsible person if you made sure that the music was loud enough for you and your guests to enjoy, but not too loud that it would annoy your neighbors? Responsibility Page 4 When one recognizes that they are 100% responsible for their life, they will soon see the great achievements that come with being a responsible person. Responsibility is a very valuable trait in all that we do. Taking responsibility for one's self leads to a more optimistic life and one is able to accomplish all that they want. Sometimes taking responsibility can be a very difficult thing, but in the end one is usually happy that they did. If one

  • 14. Personal Responsibility Personal Responsibility by Stephen Bruce Foundations for General Education and Professional Success (Gen200) 04/15/2013 Dr. Annette Roter Although personal responsibility is a perception of ideas or standards established by society, personal success depends upon personal responsibility because it promotes accountability and also reflects on the accountability in our professional lives. Upholding personal responsibility is the key to success in any type of environment. It is the commitment to ourselves telling us to get out of bed to get ready for work or to go to class. On the other hand, personal responsibility is the acceptance of failure to accomplish the task that we are obligated to. As a college level student, we know...show more content... The last element I want to discuss because I believe it is the most important concerning personal responsibility, is attitude. Possessing a positive attitude holds everything together. "Attitude represents that connection between mind, heart, and body" (Ursiny, DeMoss, & Ybaben, 2008). You can possess every other kind of quality and apply whatever kind of strategy you like but without a positive attitude you will get nowhere. Every day we come across conflict and deal with negative people who will try to make you feel less attractive, less intelligent, and lesser of just about everything. This kind of negativity spreads like wild fire. Refrain from too much exposure to this and keep in mind other people do not dictate the outcome of your life. Positive attitudes do not come easy though. It is a training process of the mind. Every day, the moment you open your eyes tell yourself this will be a good day full of learning and meeting new people and ask yourself "how will I better myself and those around me today?" Keep this type of thinking in mind and be the positive influence where ever you are and people to take notice. They will be more likely to help you, want to work with you and be wherever you are. Even if for nobody else, you owe it to yourself to have a positive attitude and to enjoy all endeavors of life. In conclusion, although personal responsibility is broad term used to describe a set of standards, by

Are you responsible for a sibling, a neighbor, or even a stranger across the world? The short stories I read help me think about the world around me and enlighten my understanding of my personal responsibility to others. First, these short stories show personal responsibility by describing to what degree we are responsible for the weaker or oppressed members of society. Second, the short stories I read helped me think about to what extent should we be driven by personal responsibility to act with compassion, empathy, and concern for others. Finally, short stories exemplify how we are personally responsible for our friends and how we live our own lives. First, short stories show personal responsibility by describing to what degree we are responsible for the weaker or oppressed members of society.Throughout the short stories, I have seen how the weaker and oppressed member of society are being helped. For example, in the short story, the "Scarlet Ibis", the narrator has a responsibility, given to him by his mother, to help his younger brother who cannot care for himself. As the narrator says in the story, "It seemed so hopeless from the beginning that it's a miracle I didn't give up. We first need to be responsible for ourselves before we can be responsible for others. In learning to be more responsible it is important that we know our limitations. Being responsible is sign of having good character. Irresponsible people often break the rules, causing injury to themselves or others. Some examples of responsibility is being on time, being prepared, and managing your time wisely. The importance of being on time indicates that you honor your commitments and you can be responsible. It also shows that you have respect for other people and that you care as much about their time as your own. • 21. Responsibility Essay Responsibility Actuality College students are plagued by too much time on their hands. The average college stereotype is kids who spend too much money, drink too much booze, and party too hard. While this isn't true of all college students, as many work very hard to get good grades, get degrees, and have a life, it's true of enough of them that the stereotype does prove itself true quite often. This is the problem that Dave Eggers postulates a way of solving in his essay Serve Or Fail. Eggers' idea of making public service volunteering a mandatory part of your college education is brilliant and would no doubt aid in many areas of College student's lives. According to Eggers, "...students saw [...] hours in need of killing – as opposed to...show more content... There's the chance as well that the student, perhaps someone with an undecided major, will encounter something that will help them make their decision once and for all. Maybe, as Eggers says, "A college history major might learn something by tutoring a local middle school class that's studying the Underground Railroad. A connection would be forged; a potential career might be discovered" (584). But perhaps beyond that, having that sort of practical experience will aid students in other ways – preparing them for life beyond college in a way that none of them are currently. Eggers says, "...while colleges give their students the intellectual tools for life beyond campus, they largely ignore the part about how they might contribute to the world. That is, until the commencement speech, at which time all the "go forth's" and "be helpful's" happen" (585). So perhaps instituting a mandatory service for graduation program would do more than simply give the students something nice to go on their resumes – but perhaps it would also aid them in deciding on a major or even a career. In other words, it would help ensure their future once they're out of college and into the "real world." Such programs are already in place in many institutes of higher education, and even in high schools. And in 2003, Michael R. Veon, a Democrat and a member of Pennsylvania's House Of representatives, introduced a bill Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Responsibility Responsibility, It Is Personal Gen/200 July 1, 2013 Lisa Hailey Responsibility, It Is Personal The term Personal responsibility can be defined in many ways, yet there is no one definite definition. To be personally responsible, one would first have to have the ability to be accountable for ones actions. Everyone is raised in their own unique atmosphere, and the levels of responsibility introduced during that upbringing will vary largely. For some people, the concept of personal responsibility will be introduced at a very young age, for example a young child learning to play a musical instrument, or competing in a dance performance. Other children will learn personal responsibility very late in life, usually due to tragedy, or a...show more content... When one fails to take personal responsibility for their education, it can lead to receiving a failing grade for the course, suspension, and even expulsion. Taking personal responsibility for one's education is more than attending class. You must be responsible for understanding the intended objective of the class, or classes. You must be responsible for submitting your work, and assuring that that work is not plagiarized. You must also be responsible for preparing for exams. When some or all of these areas are neglected, one is due to fail in completing their education. Unfortunately, when one fails to meet the obligations of fulfilling their duties as a student, it can affect their financial aid. This is also an ongoing problem within our education systems today. If a student defaults on their school loans, they become another digit in the statistics of loan default. Once a school district reaches a certain level, the opportunity for another student to receive financial assistance ceases. "More than 66 percent of loan volume issued through the federal guaranteed–student–loan program to students at Bennett in the 2006 fiscal year went through Sallie Mae, according to data compiled by Student Marketmeasure." (Hermes, 2008). Even though we need to ask for help when we cannot be responsible, it is everyone's responsibility to acquire needed assistance.
