WHAT IS PNEUMONIA?
 Pneumonia is an inflammatory infection that affects the
lungs.
 It primarily affects the air sacs also known as alveoli.
 It fills the alveoli with pus and fluid, and clogs it.
 Pneumonia is an infection that can lead to symptoms like
coughing, fever, and chest pain.
 Pneumonia could either be bacterial, viral, or fungal.
Bacterial Pneumonia is most common among the rest.

Pneumonia
CAUSES
Pneumonia is due to infections caused primarily by
bacteria or viruses.
Some factors that lead to Pneumonia are smoking,
alcoholism, immunodeficiency, asthma, and other
diseases such as, liver disease, COPD (Chronic
Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), Flu, Common
Cold, and more.
Main Symptoms
• High Fevers
• Chills
• Coughing W/ Phlegm or Sputum (Sputum is
Coughed up mucus)
• Shortness of Breath
• Chest Pain
• Hemoptysis (Coughing of Blood)
• Nausea
• Headaches
• Fatigue
• High heart rates
• ETC.
PREVENTION
Reducing indoor air pollution.
Prevent Smoking.
Take good care of your lungs generally.
Vaccinations against certain bacterial and
viral pneumonias.
