2. WHAT IS PNEUMONIA?
Pneumonia is an inflammatory infection that affects the
lungs.
It primarily affects the air sacs also known as alveoli.
It fills the alveoli with pus and fluid, and clogs it.
Pneumonia is an infection that can lead to symptoms like
coughing, fever, and chest pain.
Pneumonia could either be bacterial, viral, or fungal.
Bacterial Pneumonia is most common among the rest.
4. CAUSES
Pneumonia is due to infections caused primarily by
bacteria or viruses.
Some factors that lead to Pneumonia are smoking,
alcoholism, immunodeficiency, asthma, and other
diseases such as, liver disease, COPD (Chronic
Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), Flu, Common
Cold, and more.
5. Main Symptoms
• High Fevers
• Chills
• Coughing W/ Phlegm or Sputum (Sputum is
Coughed up mucus)
• Shortness of Breath
• Chest Pain
• Hemoptysis (Coughing of Blood)
• Nausea
• Headaches
• Fatigue
• High heart rates
• ETC.
6. PREVENTION
Reducing indoor air pollution.
Prevent Smoking.
Take good care of your lungs generally.
Vaccinations against certain bacterial and
viral pneumonias.
