The Magic of
Moringa!
he insightful discovery concerning the
health benefits of the Moringa plant has
taken the whole world by surprise, If you
were to question the hype of this plant, a
library of answers would follow , Muringa
seems to be the plant that may have the
potential to save millions of lives. The tiny
leaves of the Muringa plant has 7 times more
Vitamin C than oranges, 4 times more
Vitamin A than carrots, 4 times more calcium
than milk, and 3 times more Potassium than
bananas it also consists of vital minerals such
as Vitamins B1, B2, B3 Iron, Chromium,
Protein and Zinc. It’s like growing a Multi-
Vitamin factory in your own garden.
Nutritional, medicinal and scientific
evidences have revealed the properties of this
wonder plant. Moringa is a fast-growing,
drought-resistant tree that grows with very
little attention.
Globally Traditional medicine has used the
leaves, seeds and bark, of the Moringa plant
to cure a host of diseases, Clinical studies are
suggesting that traditional medicine has been
on the right track. Traditional healing using
this plant has been passed on from generation
to generation, native to the Indian sub-
continent, Moringa tree products have many
properties, it may be used as an anti-biotic, an
aid to childbirth and for treating liver
disorders. Moringa oil may be used to treat
stomach disorders as well. Moringa flowers
are boiled in water to make tea that is a
powerful cold remedy.
Dried Moringa leaves may be used to treat
diarrhea. Moringa seeds are also an effective
treatment to skin infecting bacteria, the gum
of the plant is known for treating asthma and
the bark and roots may be used for cardiac
and circulatory problems. The leaves of the
Moringa plant are high in iron and are usually
prescribed to anemia patients. The Vitamin A
content of the Moringa plant acts as a shield
against eye disease, skin disease, heart
ailments and diarrhea, Calcium found in
Moringa may help build strong bones and
teeth and prevent diseases such as
osteoporosis.
Further nutritional analyses prove that the
leaves contain all of the essential amino
acids, including amino acids that are
especially important for children’s diets,
which is most uncommon in a plant food.
Moringa growth has spread to places where
people need it the most. It continues to grow
in parts of the world where malnutrition is a
severe problem, countries like Ethiopia,
Chad, Somalia, Fiji, and Bangladesh. The
leaves have been used to combat
malnutrition.
In history we learn that the Romans, Greeks,
and Egyptians extracted edible oil from the
seeds and used it for perfume and as a skin
lotion. Almost every part of the Muringa tree
can be utilized. The fresh and dried leaves
make a tasty addition to any salad and are a
suitable substitute for spinach or they can be
added with other vegetables to make a
nutritious and interesting meal. Dried
Moringa leaves can be used for seasoning or
garnishing. Moringa powder can be used to
make sauces or added to shakes. Go ahead
and explore the unlimited Magic of Moringa!
