Introduction:
The Department of surveying and aerial photography consist of two
section :
1- Geodesy .
2- Data Management Center , ( GIS + Remote sensing ) .
I joined the Dams Implementation Unit (DIU) on June 2007 as a Senior Surveying
Engineering, on April 2008 I was promoted as Head of Surveying and Aerial
Photography Department . I havebeen since then managing and Supervising

more than 30 Engineers in a range of Disciplines .I havealso been directly
managing many contracts signed with reputed InternationalInstitutions (i.e. IGN
France) ,these contracts are mainly related to surveying & Digital photogrametry
For major infrastructuredevelopment(Dams ,Irrigation schemes ,….etc) .The
contracts amounts has reached 30 million Euros ,all being managed by the
Surveying Department.
Outputs for large project
Covering more than 120,000 squarekilometer by aerial photo and more
than 40,000 squarekilometer with LIDARand the products were:
-aerial photos ( 10 cm ,20 cm ).
- Orthophotomapping .
- DTM .
- land Use map.
- Spot heights .
Bathymetric survey for the River Nile of about 1500 Km, and the product
was cross-sections , profiles and hydraulic studies .

Duties and responsibilities :
The main objectives of my responsibility to advice the contractors teams
and check their works .
1- Handing over the main control points & Benchmarks to the constructor .
2- Check and calibrate all the contractor Instruments ( levels ,Total
Stations ) .
3- Supervision of shifting the Benchmarks & controlpoints to the
constructions sitework.
4- I was assigned as Resident engineer for morethan four months .
5- Supervision of all the survey work which has been taken by the
contractor before & during the construction such as :setting –out the
road alignment ( center line) , leveling work for natural ground
level.(N.G.L).
6- Check the shop drawings coming fromcontractor & verify that drawing
been made as per contract drawing comparing with latest N.G.L .&
advice the management if there is any changes in N.G.L.

been done within the tolerance up to asphaltstage .
8- Supervision for the asphalt stagefor controlling the leveling of the
asphalt layer by stakes and wire with a sensor of the asphaltpaving
