The document describes how the author's best friend, Akayla Tiedge, helped them learn to trust after years of bullying at school and home left them feeling alone. Akayla showed the author that it is possible to trust others despite past hurt, helping them come out of their shell and make new friends at their new high school. Akayla taught the author an important life lesson about finding the strength to trust others again after experiencing betrayal.
1. My Best Friend Changed My Life
We have all had that one friend who has changed our lives in ways we would never have imagined. Some friends teach us forgiveness, some friends
encourage us, some friends test your limits, some friends share our emotions in times of grief and joy, and some friends show us how to sacrifice.
My best friend, Akayla Tiedge, has taught me how to trust. All my life, I had been bullied at school and after my mother had left on my 12th birthday,
the bullying started happening at home as well. It felt like the most important people in my life, who were my blood relatives, wanted nothing to do
with me other than to put me down for their own self–gain. I didn't know where to go or who to talk to, so I kept my thoughts and my hurt inside for
five years, not knowing the damage I was causing myself. Even starting high school when the bullying stopped outside of my home, I didn't have
many friends. The few friends I did have, always knew I had inner demons but they stopped asking what was wrong because I kept telling them
that I was okay, just tired. But, I also had friends that I had close to me that I felt I could trust, and they left me as well. They not only left me, but
they told everyone about my life and my problems and that spread rumors all over the school. I stopped trusting everyone then. New place, new
sounds, and new people, all came about when I transferred from Crescent High School to Blue Ridge High School. I knew no one except for one of
my closest friends from

My Best Friend
Have you ever had someone in your life who helped you figure out who you were? Someone who showed you the right path. Someone who was
there right next you even if you did not take that path. Someone who always seemed to be right, but never held it against you when you were not.
Someone whom without your life would most likely be entirely different. I have. Her name was Jessica. Jessica was more than my neighbor. She was
more than my mentor. She was my best friend. Jessica lived three houses down from me when I moved into a new neighborhood. She made moving to a
new neighborhood a lot easier. She was one of those people who was friends with everybody. She was friends with everyone because she was so special.

She would listen to you. She would be your friend, even if she just met you. I can not remember a time when she had something unpleasant to say
about someone. That was one of many valuable lessons I learned from her and have made apart of my life.
She seemed to know everything. Anytime I had a perplexing question I knew she would know what to tell me. Her wisdom spanned several subjects.
Everything from the textbook things they wanted me to learn in school, to the life lessons that there are no textbooks for. She taught me by example.
She showed me that it was just a waste of my time and energy getting mad, upset, angry or so irate that I allowed myself to be controlled by my
emotions. She was always calm, patient, and even tempered when faced with people who were less than pleasant to be around. I learned from
watching her deal with people that being nice never fails. And I learned from watching her deal with the situations life would present that as long as
you gave everything you had to give and never quit, you could never be beat.
Jessica was a truly amazing friend. She was a true friend. I could always depend on her being there for me with the right words of advice. Even if I
did not want to hear what she was saying. She had been exactly where I was and she knew how perilous the journey of adolescence could be. She
informed and guided me in my choices. Yet she never forced anything on me. My

3. Descriptive Essay About My Best Friend
About Me! By: Jonna S. My Best friend My best friend is amazing! Ever since the first day of school she's been there. Basically what happened was
on the first day I was at silver hills and had no idea who anyone was so i just sat at a table and she was like, "Hi I'm Daphnie what's your name?," of
course i said Jonna cause that's my name. Eventually we ran into each other at lunch so we sat down and talked for awhile to each other and then
we walked to my next class and I was like wow you wanna be friends. She said of course cause i mean come on i'm amazing! Honestly we had a lot
of good memories together from the 6th grade and i'm very excited to create brand new ones with her. She is amazing and I see perfection in her
even though she disagrees i don't care she is perfect in my eyes and i will always be there for her I don't care what happens between us and i just
wanna say thank you and i love you best friend! My Runaway! Hot air, windy breeze, beating sun, blooming season and a nice boring day! The
exotic yellow bus speeding through the overpowering wind and it took a nice sharp stop. We got off the bus and that's when our adventurous day
started. But really, what we thought was a fun day, others thought we were crazy and scared for us! For example, both of our entire households. This is
how it all started. It was a very casual afternoon throughout school. Nothing different from any other day, until we got on the bus. Mackenzie

4. Reflective Essay About Friendship
Having a friendship with someone since you were little is amazing, the bond you form with that person like a never–ending comforter and someone to
always trust and confide in. The day I moved into the new house and went to see the neighborhood, I knew we would always be close. Owen and I
grew closer every day, quickly becoming the best of friends, and at the time, nothing was better than having a best friend. Through our awkward
years, multiple friend groups coming and going, the harsh words and the hate from other people, we were always there for each other; he had my
back and I his. Living in the moment and cherishing the things you have while you have them is one of the most important things in life because you
never know when it can all be taken away...
It was during the eleventh–grade summer that everything changed. The daily talks, sleepovers, and coming to each other about everything all hindered.
Eye contact and smiles were turned to scowling, pointing, and laughing with the hierarchy of all groups. Being friends with him for so long and
eventually developing feelings that exceeded a friendship, and then just being dropped with no warning and not having a clue why was
heart–wrenching and confusing. The day of the pep–rally I finally thought that this one–sided feud would be stopped and that we could rekindle our
lost friendship, but I could never be more wrong. Many side glances, smirks, and winks were made, but none with the loving intent that they used to
hold.

5. Personal Narrative Essay : My Best Friend
My best friend is always there when I need her the most, has my back when times get rough, and I can always tell her my deepest darkest secrets.
My best friend's name is Tea Elaine Valentine. We have been best friends for nine years and counting. We met in the third grade. I was introduced
to Tea by another friend of mine. She thought I was weird at first, but as she got to know me we have been best friends ever since. Tea and I are
two different people. Tea is more of the outspoken, no filter, and whatever comes to mind is said. I'm more of the quiet and laid back. I have
learned many things from Tea like learning how to speak up for myself, never to let anyone walk all over me, and it is okay to say how you feel.
Are friendships have stayed strong this many years because of our loyalty, listening ear, and always being there for each other. From third grade to
sixth grade Tea and I were stuck together like glue. Every day after school we would call each other on the house phone and we would talk for
hours. When it was time for the weekend I was always at her house or she was at my house to spend the night. My after school routine was the
same as always but this phone conversation started off different. "I have something to tell you," Tea said."Yes?" I replied. She said "I'm moving to Big
Rapids next year" . After hearing this news I was so devastated. I felt like I was losing my best friend. She was only moving three hours away, I felt
like she was moving across the

6. Friendship Essay: What Makes A Good Friend?
A friend is someone difficult to find. A friend is someone you can always count on when times are tough. The dictionary's definition of a good
friend is a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard. A good friend is there when you are struggling. For example,
when a boy breaks your heart a good friend walks you through it and offers a shoulder to cry on. According to Bree Neff, a good friend is someone
who is trustworthy, doesn't talk behind your back, listens to your problems, gives good advice and tries to lend humor along with his or her support.
There are also bad friends, those who pretend to care and then turn around gossiping and starting drama. Good and bad friends are all around you,

You want friends that show they care and do not resent your achievements. A good friend sees good in your accomplishments; because of this they
will not want you to do poorly and will always be looking out for you, hoping you do your best. A trustworthy friend is someone you can count on
no matter what. They are someone you can call in the middle of the night and vent to, or just talk. They are someone who, if they say they are
going to do something, they do it and don't bail out. Good friends are people with whom you can talk to and trust with your secrets. You can tell a
friend anything and know they won't open their mouth just for the fun of it because they like and respect you too much to hurt you. If you have
something you feel like you can't tell anyone about, they are the friends you can tell. A good friend is someone who when you tell them personal
stuff you don't have to worry, you know your secret is safe. Trusted friends are those you can tell your flaws to and know your revelations are safe.
Sometimes after you tell people certain information you think: "What in the world was I thinking?" but a trustworthy person won't ever make you feel
like that. What is a loyal friend? A loyal friend is someone who never lets you down. They are someone who does things with you even though these
things maybe totally boring, but they still do them. Loyal friends won't back out at the last second. They stick with

Friends
Welcome to "New York," where the folks are friendly, the buildings never falter, and all quarrels end with a quip. Not to be found on the East Coast,
this Burbank, California–based "New York" is the setting of "Friends," the popular situation comedy that first aired on NBC in 1994. With roughly
sixteen million households tuning in each week, not to mention syndication of re–runs, "Friends" has become a cultural icon. "Friends" is more than just
a sit–com that begins on Thursday at eight o'clock and ends at eight–thirty. It is a living, breathing, fictional reality like a second home that isn't lived
in, but lived through. Many viewers talk about the characters on "Friends" as if they were, in fact, close personal...show more content...
Although "Friends" offers its viewers such enjoyment, its viewers must be mindful that its portrayal of attractive, Caucasian, slim young adults who
use coarse, sexual, and objectionable language also makes "Friends" a show that can subtly promotes unhealthy, unrealistic, and unobtainable ideals. Is
it worth watching?
Before critiquing the more problematic aspects of "Friends," one must understand what makes the show such a success. Enter Central Perk, the coffee
shop that our six friends (Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green, Courtney Cox Arquette as Monica Geller, Lisa Kudrow as Phoebe Buffay, Matt LeBlanc
as Joey Tribbiani, Matthew Perry as Chandler Bing, and David Schwimmer as Ross Geller) regularly frequent. It is the seventeenth episode of the
sixth season, but it doesn't matter if you're an avid "Friends" viewer or a novice who has never seen the show. You will still laugh. Ross and Joey are
sitting on a couch as Phoebe and Rachel enter wearing workout clothes. They greet each other warmly and the dialogue begins:
Ross: Hey, what have you guys been up to?
Phoebe: Ohh! We went to a self–defense class today!
Ross: Wow!
Rachel: Yeah, kicking a guy in the crotch all morning really takes it out of ya!
Joey: Takes it out of you? (Laughs.)
9. Narrative Essay About My Best Friend
I remember it being a cold Saturday night. One of my best friends was so messed up he wasn't able to talk much, only stare. We were all worried
for him because he was the guy who never dabbled in these things, an average teenager with feelings, hopes, and dreams, so why him? This was
the first time I realized how drugs and alcohol can take a severely negative toll on anybody, even those closest to you. I received a snapchat from
Colton* saying that Anthony had been drugged at one of the fraternity parties they had attended after a football game. I called as fast as I could, as I
was worried for his well–being. He had been drinking beer and someone had slipped a hallucinogen, most likely LSD, in his drink. The next morning,
he told me...show more content...
Even if a student does not engage in any use, it is highly common that someone they know will at some point in their life. When teenagers begin this
activity, it can rapidly escalate, leading to addiction or the use of heavier drugs. Teenagers are not able to fully comprehend how this will affect them
mentally or physically, short term or long term. Attending a large school, I have witnessed many people I know struggle with addiction to pills,
marijuana, tobacco, and alcohol. These people don't realize that they are putting these things above everything in life, and they are struggling
academically, as well as socially. It is hard for other teenagers to help since they don't want to get their friends in trouble or they're simply unaware of
how severe the situation is.
Along with the mental and physical issues drugs and alcohol can cause, teenagers are also unaware of the legal consequences that come along with
being caught with these substances. Being a minor in possession of alcohol or drugs can be charged with hefty fines, and even incarceration. If drugs
or alcohol are in possession or being used at school, students can expect to receive a suspension, crossroads, or even expulsion. They can also be
removed from any clubs, teams, and certain classes. The only reason students have knowledge of these consequences is from observing the outcome
others face after they get caught. At this age, we should know the consequences before an incident occurs

10. Friendship As A Small Group Of Friends
Friendship in Life Since I can remember I have always been a girl with a small group of friends. In my school years I would usually hang out with only
2–3 girls in my classroom, and it has always been that way ever since. I'm a very shy and quiet person; for that reason I've always preferred a small
group of friends. Throughout the years, I've lost some friends on the way but I have also kept some good friends, and refer them more as best friends.
Friendship has become a big part of my life, and it has taught me what friendship really is and who has been my real friends. Once I graduated from
high school, I moved to Racine WI, to attend college and continue working as a waitress in a Mexican restaurant. Thanks to that job, I met a girl
that till this day has been a great friend; I can honestly say she's like a sister to me. At first, we would just work together a couple times a week, but
later on we began hanging out together outside of work. When that started, I just began to trust her more and learned a lot from her in how she is.
Since I met her, she's the type of girl who can easily be talked to, she would get you comfortable talking to her and she would always make you
laugh at the moment you meet her. She's very outgoing girls who even though we have been through a lot together we have managed to still continue
being great friends. After knowing her for a couple years we became closer and closer, we have our differences, but we have learned a lot from each
other.

12. Being My Own Best Friend
Being my own best friend would help me reflect on my decisions and thought processes as an objective observer. As any best friend would do, I
would try to give myself advice, try and help myself be a better individual. If I were my own best friend, I would advise myself to stop being such a
perfectionist in everything.
I overthink things way too often: "If I hang out with my friend after school today, would I have enough time to finish my homework? Which is more
fun: going out with my friends, or staying at home?" If I do this, if I do that. Whenever there 's a decision to be made, my mind can never make itself
up; it always seems to want to go through every possible outcome to decided which is the best one – the perfect course of action. I can't count the
number of times my mind has been so indecisive, though I do remember stepping down as a presidential candidate in elementary school. For the
life of me, I can't remember why I did what I did; I was probably afraid of some sort of backlash, or of simply not winning. If I were my own best
friend all those years ago (especially if I were the age I am now), that would not have happened, at least not without reason. As my own best friend, I
would tell myself to make up my mind. I would urge myself to stop thinking of the worst–case scenario, because I am usually wrong; things almost
never happen the way I think they will.
Making decisions aren 't the only thing I over think. I stay mostly in my head and try to think

For my in–school counseling group, I am developing and leading a group with the topic of 'Friendship' with six to eight sixth grade female students.
These students were pre–screened for membership and mentioned concerns of friendship skills; how to make and keep friends and how to avoid
gossip and 'drama'. These students were selected for pre–screening based on the needs assessment completed by the site supervisor for practicum,
which will be discussed in the next section. Based on my review of available and current literature on the topic of relationships in female adolescents, I

The top area for group counseling was the topic of friendship from the student responses. The teacher responses revealed top concerns to be social
skills and organization skills. I then pre–screened 8 female students who indicated interest in joining a group on the topic of 'friendship'. During this
time I asked each student to specify what areas they would like to work on most. Many of these areas included skillsets around avoiding conflict,
controlling emotions (in response to rejection/conflict), and making friends.
Research
Research on the topic of friendship relationships between female adolescents (and specifically middle school students) highlights both the need for
intervention with students, as well as some techniques that may most effective for friendship issues. Adolescence, and specifically the time individuals
go through middle school is a time of a lot of changes, which include changes in cognition (concrete to formal thought) and relationships (moving from
parent/adult relationships to peer relationships for support) (Wigfield, Lutz, & Wagner, 2005). Some argue that close relationships are formed for the
first time between 8 to 10 years in age, and can have positive features that are different from younger relationships because individuals are begin to start
exhibiting mutual empathy (Berndt, 2004). During this time, Berndt (2004) states that

15. Essay About My Best Friends
Best friends forever we said. We pinky promised it would be for a lifetime, but I learned that some things change. Faith and I had the average
friend relationship when we were younger. We would tell each other secrets, help each other with homework, have slumber parties and play dates,
and just be fun kids together. Since we were in preschool, we were always there for each other through the ups and downs of childhood. We loved
each other like no other, or so I thought. It started off as one of my favorite days in the world. It was mid December, the snow fell for what seemed
like hours on end. I always have loved these days. The ones where you sit at home with your family at night and drink hot chocolate while the
snow is falling outside. My birthday was a couple days before, while Christmas would soon come after. Christmas songs heard all over; on the
radio, at home, in school, it was such a joyous time of year. I couldn't be more happier. Laying in bed late at night, I received a text message from
faith. This wasn't an unusual occurrence as faith and I talked quite often. Half asleep I started reading the message. Assuming it was some secret that
she just found out about our classmates, or a funny meme, I didn't think I had anything to worry about. That was until I saw the words "terrible

myself. Immediately I sat up,

For many years, it has been said that man's best friend is a dog. Through the years there has been studies showing the positive results of having a
dog in or out of a house, whether it be emotionally, mentally, or physically. Not only have humans been able to form strong bonds with these
animals for their companionship but also for their protective instincts. Now, dogs are not the only animals that allow for these positive outcomes,
but there could also be other animals such as cats, rabbits, reptiles, horses, and even farm animals that could have the same results. Animals have
been taught to detect different dangerous objects such as bombs, also sniff out drugs, they have been trained to become service animals, and also
they have been able to be domesticated in order to live with humans. Without these animals our lives could hold possibility of being drastically
changed. For the longest time we have known that dogs are our best friend for not only their loyalty, but also your their quick ability to learn. In an
article by Harvard Health Publishing, it states how dogs are not only our best friends but can also be the best friend of our hearts. "The evidence
reviewed by the American Heart Association (AHA) indicates thatdog owners are more likely to exercise, have a better cholesterol profile, have lower

the most loyal and absolutely the most trustworthy long–term friendships that I have ever experienced. I have been given the opportunity in life to
come face to face with my best friend, she has changed my life in various ways. No one that I have met can compete with how well her and I mix.

To this day Maria is my ride or die, we kept growing up and when my father got me a car for my birthday it became even better. We both see each
other almost every week and hang out to eat, shop, or simply go over each others house. We both have so many similarities in our lives and
personalities, we definitely never take that for granted. She has persistently gotten me through all of my rough patches, with that being said, every
time we talk she knew what I need to hear to get me through or get ahead of it in life. Nonetheless, we are very alike, but we still obviously have
our differences, yet I admire how we will always cooperate and try to imagine and picture ourselves in the other person's position. She always gives
me her best friend and at the same time her motherly advice. She is kind hearted, but is not afraid to rip the bandage when needed. We both gossip and
laugh about everything! Our conversations can go on for the longest time. There is nothing but love to the fact that we will manage our time for each
other even if our schedules are a little hassled.
On top of that, maturing in life is very important to me. I never want to have a friend that doesn't grow. I confront everything life throws at my
direction. Weirdly, with all of the struggles Maria and I have had together, it has definitely helped us mature together in life. To this day I couldn't be

Out of anyone in my life, my sister is truly the person I respect and look up the most We have had our ups and downs but she is always there for me
when I need her and I am always there for her when I can be. She's my sister, best friend but most importantly my twin sister. She's the one I grew up
with, the one that's always there for me. We have a bond that nobody or anything could break. As close as we are today I can say I would be
completely lost without her.
My sister and I have moments where we both feel weird whenever we are not around each other because as I twin we feel like we can't be separate for
one minute. Either of both of us will start missing each other like crazy. And that is just a thing her and me have. And when it comes to missing my
sister I get crazy because I just can't be with anybody else but her. And I mean it because I will start, texting her, calling her, I will do anything to be
together every day. But having a conversation is important when it comes not talking to each other. According to Albert's he once said: " Conversation
plays, an important role in friendship as well." (Albert's, p.190). Having a conversation to one each other it is really important because you will know
what the person is feeling today or tomorrow, it is a good thing that people communicate because is simply the act of transferring information from one
place to another.

20. Reflection About Friendship
We have many people that we say are our friends and some we consider to be ours as best friends. Those so called best friends are the ones we can
count with our fingers, which then turns out to not be a lot. However, in my experience we can't always expect good outcomes from either one of
them. We are better off not trusting anyone but yourself, since your best friends are the ones that end up hurting you the most. However, I didn't' lose
a friend, I just realized I never had one. In every friendship, we are risking the chance of being betrayed, we need to be careful how much trust we give.
As we grow older we realize that not all friends can be trusted. People change and friends become distant as they discover different interests. This is
when we realize that the person we thought was our best friend is now growing into an enemy that knows all our secrets. As we grow apart so do
our mutual friends, and interests change towards other people. Our best friends know our weaknesses and later use that against us. I've been hurt
by a so called friend, unfortunately I learned the hard way, but now I am careful. Karina and I had been best friends since kindergarten, we had a
