2. PURPOSE, AIM AND
METHODOLOGY
• To find out what my target audience wanted to
see in the magazine, I used an questionnaire.
• This presentation is to show you the results of the
questionnaire that I carried out.
• I chose to use a questionnaire because it’s a very
quick thing to fill out and I thought it was the best
way to find out a lot of information in the shortest
time possible – so not to disturb the public. Its also
very easy to put into graphs/charts/presentations
• Given these results I can now see through they eyes
of the target audience and know exactly what they
would want in a new magazine.
3. AUDIENCE PROFILING.
• My results show that my target audience is
predominantly male students aged 16-20. this leads
me to believe that because they are students and
only at that age, they wont have a lot of money to
spend on what they want.
• This would prompt me to start the magazine pricing
lower, as this would more suitably fit the target
audiences price range.

4. AUDIENCE PROFILING
• From my results I can also see that they live mostly in Bishops
Stortford and Harlow. They also like playing video
games, doing sport and listening to music.
• This information is important because it will help me to know
what to include in the magazine, and I can include and
regional features that will make them want to buy the
magazine more because their home town will be in it.

5. MEDIA PURCHASING HABITS
• My results tell me that 50% of people buy 2-3
magazines a month. The majority spend £2-£4 in
total per month on magazines and the mostly buy
them from W.H.Smiths.
• These results will help me to decide how often I
should release the magazine and at what price
range. It also tells me that I should retail it in a shop
rather then a newsagents or an off-license.

• With these two graphs, I can people would want
competitions and electronic downloads free with their
new magazine. I can also see that ‘a day in the life of’
was the most popular feature wanted. From this I can tell
what kind of person the individual is. Also I can defiantly
include free downloads and competitions into the
magazine.
8. PERSONAL PREFERENCES

people chose the other ones but it 38%
was predominantly number 2.
• This helps me to develop my
image of the typical person
who would want to read this
magazine because of what
they said they liked about
the magazine and what
they had said earlier in the
questionnaire.
9. CONCLUSIONS
• From my findings I can tell my final target audience is
going to be male students from the ages 16-20 who buy
2-3 magazines a month from W.H.Smiths.
• I'm going to assume they don’t have a lot of personal
income because they are students and the only way
they could get money is from their parents or doing little
jobs here and there.
• I'm also going to sell the magazine for £3 and there will
be free electronic downloads and competitions within
the magazine.
• Form my findings I'm also proposing that I'm going to sell
the magazine in Bishops Stortford and in Harlow because
that’s where the majority of the people live (who
answered my questionnaire.)
