ABOUT PROJECT EMPOWER COPA
Project Empower COPA (Community Of People Aspiring-greatness) is a free certified Vocational Empowerment Training Program
which has empower about 1500 youths and women in Nigeria in the past one year. This project is a born initiative of Trailblazer
Initiatives Nigeria a non-governmental organization that is committed to the betterment of our generation and making positive
change inevitable in our society. The pioneer edition of this project was held between 15th of June 2012- 10th of July 2012 at Ikolaba
grammar School, Agodi, Ibadan- Nigeria where over 52 persons were empowered in 5 different categories.
Why this Project
Statistics revealed that 0.1% of vocationally empowered youths remain unemployed in Nigeria while about 23.9% post secondary
education certificate holders were unemployed as at 2011. This is a pointer that unemployment and poverty level can definitely be
reduced with Vocational Skill Acquisition.
Many of our future leaders have been rendered useless while some engage daily in many acts of immorality due to idleness and
poverty just because they do not have a source of income and nothing to do no wonder we have Boko Haram, MEND, Kidnappers,
Thieves e.t.c. Through Vocational Skill Empowerment, more jobs can be created and employment opportunities will come into
existence; therefore, life will be better for all. Our youths and women will thus become more productive.

MOUTH WASH
Cosmetics are everyday items, extremely profitable as most of them are made with high
volumes of body agents like water, alcohol or chalk.

1. Dissolve 1 and 2 I sufficient water to form x
2. Add 3 and 4 to 5 then add 6 with slow agitation to form y

PERFUMED JELLY

PREPARATORY INSTRUCTION
1. Melt 1-3(in ingredients listed above) to while stirring in an enamel or aluminum pot
2. Allow to cool until its hazy

TOOTH PASTE

PREPARATORY INSTRUCTION
1. Prepare part 1 by adding vegan to water and agitate until smooth
2. Form 2 by wetting cmc with glycerin and stir into 1 to form 3

SKIN LOTION
INGREDIENT QUANTITY
1. Cresol 20ml
2. Mercury dichloride 2.4g
3. Eosin y, 1% aq.solution 2.8
4. Acetone 400ml
5. Ethanol 95% 2,100ml
6. Water distilled 1,400ml
PREPARATORY INSTRUCTION
1. Dissolve 2 and 3 in 6=1
2. Disslove 1 in 4 and add to 5=11
3. Add 1 and 2
4. Agitate and filter
5. Package and that is it.
SOYA MILK
INGREDIENT QUANTITY
1. Soya beans 300g
2. Water
PREPARATORY INTRUCTION
1. Wash and soak in water at room temperature for 4 to 5 hrs or until the beans are
swelled.

2. Pour off steep water and add 2.5litres of fresh water
3. Put small portion of the bean in blender and grind till finely
4. Allow the combined bean mash to settle for 10mins,then remove the foam
5. Strain the through a double layered cheesecloth
6. The milky filtrate is called soya beans milk or simply soya milk
7. Add food grade preservative in small quantity pckage and make money with it
YOGHURT
INGREDIENT QUANTITY
1. Milk 1470g
2. Sucrose sugar 1kg
3. Vanillin 0.5g
4. Ammoniated Glycyrrhizin 2g
5. Water 80%
PREPARATORY INSTRUCTION
1. Dissolve the milk in the water and steam to about 80degree cent then leave to cool to
30degree cent
2. Add the cultour, stir well and leave for 24hrs
3. Then add sugar, mix, and package and refrigerate
ICE CREAM

1. Eggs 4-5
2. Vanilla essence 5drops
3. Icing sugar

4. Evaporated milk 1tin
PREPARATORY INSSTRUCTION
1. Mix vanilla and icing sugar with milk in a plate
2. Make holes on eggs and drain out egg white whisk egg and drain until its stickily
foaming and creamy
3. Pour the whisky egg into the mixture and mix together
4. Package in cups or nylon silver coated pack polythene
5. Freeze in a deep freezer
ICE CREAM (FORMULA 2)
PREPARATORY INSTRUCTION
1. Put water in mix container
2. Add corn starch follow by sugar and then salt
3. Stir well till dissolve and add cmc
4. Follow by the milk then sodium benzoate
5. Stir well and package
6. Freeze in a deep freezer and its ready for market
BABY OIL PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES

FABRICATION PROCEDURE FOR BABY OIL
1. Place the pot on a hot stove
2. Pour the paraffin oil first before the petroleum oil and then Lanolin, allow it to melt
3. Bring it down and add perfume
4. Pour the liquid into the containers using a funnel and put on the Label
5. Package and sell.

4. Croda Wax 10 grams

8. Stearic Acid 5 grams
9. carbolic Acid to taste
PROCEDURES FOR PREPARING BODY CREAM
1. Boil 4 liters of water and Borax in a pot up to boiling point (part 1)
2. Boil Paraffin oil, Petroleum Jelly, Stearic acid, Carbolic acid, Croda wax and ethanol
in a separate pot and stir to mix well (part 2)
3. Add part 1 to part 2 little by little. The add perfume to taste and mix very well.
4. Pour into the containers and label for sale.

HOW TO MAKE PETROLEUM JELLY
Petroleum Jelly is a body ointment generally known as verselin used to keep the body
soft during cold weather especially dry season or harmattan periods in Nigeria and other
sub Sahara region of Africa. Although it has high a high demand yet the production
needs small capital to start up.
Minimum capital for production set up = N 15,000 for the following:

NEEDED RAW MATERIALS FOR PETROLEUM JELLY PRODUCTION
Paraffin Wax (1 gram)
White Paraffin Oil (4 liters)

PROCEDURE FOR MAKING PETROLEUM JELLY
· Lit the stove and put the pot on it and allow it to dry
· Pour the 4 liters of paraffin oil into the pot
· Add 1 gram of paraffin wax an allow to melt
· Remove the pot from the stove and add perfume and color to taste
· Pour into containers; Label and package for sale.

HOW TO PREPARE MEDICATED SOAP
Medicated Soap is used widely by young adults and older people as well to check skin
infections and to maintain younger look respectively. It is a toiletry that is found to be
suitable at all weather and most at times does not side effect of over usage. Its
production is seen to be more complex in comparison with other laundry or bathing
items yet it is simple to anyone who wishes to venture into it.

PREPARATION OF MEDICATED SOAP FOR SALE
1. Add 1 cup of caustic soda to 1/3 cup of kaolin and 3 cups of water to get caustic soda
solution.
2. Add 1 cup of sodium bi-carbonate to ¼ cup of sodium sulphate and 4 cups of water to
get sodium bi-carbonate solution.
3. Pour the two solutions into one container and add the remaining items:
12 cups of palm kernel oil, ¼ cup of sulphonic, ¼ cup of hydroquinone, ¼ cup of
mercuric iodide, 3 cups of disinfectant and 1 spoonful of colorant.
4. Stir very well and pour into the pot placed on a hot stove and to boil up to boiling
point.
5. Bring down and pour into the mould and allow setting or hardening. Package for sale.
HOW TO PRODUCE TOILET SOAP IN NIGERIA
Toilet soap is the kind of soap that is mild on the skin used for bathing and other
laundry purposes. It is used across all categories of persons of the society ranging from
children, teenagers and adults- both male and female.
To start producing this product whether in a small or large scale is relatively simple
compared to the establishment of other sophisticated industries. However, this issue is
designed for most unemployed youths who are eager to find something doing in order to
earn their living by being self employed.

Procedure for Toilet Soap Production
1. Add 1 cup of caustic soda to ½ cup of hardener and 3 cups of water to get caustic
soda solution.
2. Add 1 cup of soda ash to1/2 cup of sodium bi-carbonate and 3 cups of water to get
soda ash solution.
Mix the caustic soda solution with the soda ash solution in one container and stir
till it mixes very well.
3. Add 12 cups of palm kernel oil, ¼ cup hardener, ½ cup of silicate, colorant (to
the desired color) and perfume (to taste), to the above solution and stir again.
Pour the whole mixture into a pot placed on a hot stove and allow boiling point.
Bring it down and pour into the mould and allow to dry.
4. Package and sell your product.
