2. UN Environment promotes the worldwide implementation of Sustainable Public
Procurement (SPP), a powerful instrument that has the ability to accelerate the shift to
more sustainable consumption and production practices. Through its various projects, UN
Environment supports the development and implementation of SPP policies in 13
countries and fosters regional cooperation and exchange of knowledge, experience and
lessons learned in Latin America and the Asia Pacific. UN Environment is also the lead of
the 10YFP SPP programme, an international collaborative platform that aims at making the
case for SPP and supporting all organizations on SPP implementation.

Editor's Notes
Countries covered by the project include Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine
- Out of these 6 countries, 3 benefit from the SPP component
Market studies confirmed local productive capacities for some of the priority products and the potential responsiveness of the market to SPP tenders
Prioritized product groups:
energy-efficient doors and windows, organic fruits and vegetables (Moldova)
heat insulation materials, paintwork materials, as well as washing and cleaning products (Ukraine)
boiler equipment on local fuels, personal computers, street lamps, and printers (Belarus)
"Carry out a project evaluation in the 3 countries": this is a new activity that was not budgeted for initially, and we wonder if an overall project evaluation will be conducted, and if so, who will be funding it? even though no funds were foreseen in the initial SPP budget submitted to the EC to carry out the evaluation, we could allocate some funds for it if need be
