The European School Sport Day (ESSD) is a pan-European initiative with the main goal to promote physical activity on international level and involve as many children and young people, schools and organisations as possible.
2. In 2014 during MOVE Week we decided to involve as many schools as
possible and to encourage students, particularly those in hard-to-reach
social groups to involve in sport and physical activity through the initiative.
The idea came from the Hungarian School Sport Day and its amazing
results in Hungary.
147 schools and 13 kindergartens from all over Bulgaria joined MOVE
Week in 2014. More than 36,000 children were physically active during
this week.
Nine schools from all over the country met the criteria and were awarded
with vouchers for purchasing of sports goods.
How we involved the schools?
3. Steps we follow when trying to reach and involve the schools –
communication and involvement of stakeholders:
• Looking for support from the Ministry of Education and Science.
• We send information to MES who forward it to the Regional
Inspectorate of Education.
• Sending information to school principals.
• Sending e-mails to all participating schools in 2014.
• Sending information to school teachers who have been participating in
BGBA trainings in 2014.
• Support from the MOVE Agents.
