Action Plan to 2019 Towards the Realisation of Schooling 2030
The DBE’s Action Plan 2019, which has among its goals the following, towards the
achievement of which the Integrated Strategic Planning Framework for Teacher
Education and Development in South Africa, will directly contribute:
Goal 14: Attract a new group of young, motivated and appropriately trained
teachers into the teaching profession each year
Goal 16: Improve the professionalism, teaching skills, subject knowledge and
computer literacy of teachers throughout their entire careers
Goal 17: Strive for a teaching workforce that is healthy and enjoys a sense of
job satisfaction
6. Minimum Requirements
All teachers need to meet the Minimum Requirements for Teacher
Education Qualifications and should be prepared, willing and able to
teach all key areas of the curriculum.
