3. Suffix 1
 -dipsia thirst
 Example: polydipsia
 Meaning – excessive thirst
 Thirst is the body’s craving for water. Your brain tells your body to
drink whenever the volume of fluid in your body falls, or when the level
of osmolite concentration rises.
 The goal of the body is to keep the net flow of water into and out of the
cells at zero. This is referred to as isotonic.

4. Suffix 2
 -tropin to stimulate
 Example: somatotropin
 Meaning: growth hormone
 Somatotropin is a peptide hormone secreted by the anterior pituitary
gland to stimulate cell growth, reproduction, and regeneration.
 Medically, somatotropin can be used to treat those with growth
hormone deficiency.
