1. Parliament
Government has three (3) main organs. One main organ is
Legislative Assembly. Legislative Assembly consist of
Parliament (MAJLIS-E-SHURAH).
Majlis-e-shurah.
THE Legislature of Pakistan is known as
Majlis-e-Shurah, which comprises two houses
1) The Lower House or National Assembly
2) The Upper House or Senate
The lower house or National Assembly consists of 342
members. The upper house or Senate consists of 104
members.
Functions of Parilament.
The Both houses of parliament
have equal power of legislation, whereas national assembly has
more powers in financial matters. Budget is passed by
National assembly.
2. 1) Legislation
Parliaments legislates law for the country.
Both houses have equal powers for legislation. For e.g.
if one bill is passed by one house, it goes to the second
for ratification.
2) Electoral Functions.
The both houses of parliament
elect the President. The national assembly elects the
Prime minister, speaker and deputy speaker. Senate
elects the chairman and Deputy Chairman.
