I would like readers to benefit from my project and learn and research more about the infrastructure of Public Aquarium.
Though the project is still so much to design i have shared the most parts which i could complete till the end of my final jury.
Thank You
Enjoy Learning
2. I would like to thank my parents, professors and
colleagues for this successful graduation project. I
would like to share my project to encourage
designers to think more than just designing hotels,
houses and mansions for your graduation but to
choose something which you could never imagine
you would ever design.
Acknowledgment
3. I am a graduated student from Bahrain. I worked on
Revit software for my Project. Sadly, I cannot share
the actual location of my site due to legal issues. But
I would like to inform that my plan is 30000 sq m².
Itâs closer to the sea. The existing plan is performing
as a Hotel which I designed it into a Public
Aquarium.
Note
4. Summary
⢠Through my project I have done an intensive search on
:
â How Public Aquarium have designed
â Analysed through the design criteria of the existing project
â Analysed case studies
â Understanding the technical methods of the Public Aquarium
â Finalising the Project Programming
â Designing the First Phase of the Project
â Designing the Last Stage of the Project

5. Introduction
From the past decades, Bahrain
has conducted the usual trends
of exhibitions and events. The
project will promote an aquatic
ambience where different species
will be considered. This project
will be focusing for attracting
tourism in Bahrain. This project
will bring into a new style of
exhibiting of Wildlife
experience; a âPublic Aquariumâ

For a tourism site, the site must be near by from hotels and airport which will act
as an attraction for the tourist people. For the developmental increase of the
visits of tourism in Bahrain, The place chosen for the site has to be near by for
residential as well as the tourist of the neighboring countries.

⢠To bring the rich marine flora & fauna of the
Mediterranean, Ocean, Tropical and Temperature,
Artic and Antarctica, Wetlands
⢠To increase the existing tourist foot print.
⢠To educate people about marine species.
⢠In addition to its commercial interest, it will also
partner with research centers for universities and
marine biology.
⢠As an entertainment zone, Adventure water sports
activities will be brought to people which will be
instructed by the professionals.
16. Objectives
⢠The Aquarium will be designed in modern
architecture style and will project the vernacular of
the Kingdom of Bahrain through material finishes
and interior.
⢠The Aquarium will also consist of Biological research
centre and breeding tanks where endangered species
are grown and send back to sea
⢠People will learn about flora and fauna of Different
Species around the Globe.
⢠Dolphinarium will also be a part of this Aquarium
⢠Adventure water sports complex will be a place for
entertainment, training centre for family and
youngsters.
⢠The Adventure water sports complex will have both
land and water sports activities.
17. The âMarine Life and Research Centreâ is a Public Aquarium which will
consist of many species around the globe and will play a platform for
education purposes and will focus on Conservation Activities. The main
objective of the design is to attract users and fulfill the physical and
physiological needs by taking in consideration about the accessibility,
sustainability issues and to build a strong relationship of humans and
aquatic creatures. The innovative design will include different types of Sea:
Mediterranean, Ocean, Tropical and Temperature, Artic and Antarctica and
even Wetlands which will consist of birds and small creatures which can be
fed with the user's hand as an interactive experience. The design will also
enhance flexibility of space by implementing the conceptual design idea of
immersive nature of water.

is approximately 5000 m3 .
⢠Although there are about 10
thousand living animals in the
aquarium, most of these species are
marine animals.

118. Types of Filtration
Filtration is a very important aspect of an aquarium
system. Filtration is comprised of three main components:
mechanical, chemical and biological. Sterilization using
ultraviolet (UV) or ozone systems can also be added.
Mechanical Filtration
Traps larger, suspended solids with
the use of materials such as floss or
foam. Regular maintenance of these
materials must be performed to keep
the material from clogging and
reducing or eliminating its
effectiveness.
Ref: https://www.fdacs.gov/Consumer-Resources/Recreation-
and-Leisure/Aquarium-Fish/Aquarium-Components-Filtration
Ref: http://angel-strike.com/aquarium/DetritusFilter.html
119. Chemical Filtration
Uses adsorption to remove some dissolved
substances from the water. Activated charcoal is
often used for chemical filtration because it is
very porous and, therefore, has a large surface
area. They are not useful for reef tanks.
Resins and clays are also used. However, it has a
limited life span and, regardless of its purpose,
must be replaced on a regular basis.
Biological Filtration
The process in which ammonia, which comes
from fish waste and is highly toxic to fish, is
converted to nitrite then to nitrate by
beneficial, nitrifying bacteria. Nitrate is far
less toxic to fish, except in extremely high
levels. This process is known as nitrification.
