3. Your Webinar Questions
Q: What does one do if there is not any upline support to
talk to and pump some ideas off of?
A: GDI is set up in a way that each team member has a
sponsor, which we often refer to as an upline. Your upline
should be available to help you build your business, answer
questions and guide you. If you don’t know how to contact this
individual, just log into your GDI Member’s Area and select the
“Upline” menu option. If you have trouble getting with your
direct sponsor, work your way up the list as far as you go until
you get the help you need!
Also always there to help you is GDI’s top-notch Support
department that is available to answer your questions by phone
or email. You will be surprised at the depth of knowledge they
can bring, not only to help you understand your product or
working in the Member’s Area, but also tips about building your
business and sharing the GDI opportunity with others.
Contact them simply by clicking on the “Request Support” link
from within your GDI Member’s Area.
4. Your Answers
In this webinar, we asked YOU for your answer to one tough
question. Here’s the best response we received.
Q: What do you say to someone who is not interested
in purchasing a domain?
A: I share with those who say they don't want a domain
name that they will hinder their success by not having a
professional link with a powerful message, by having a
brand domain name. At the same time, they are also
bringing in residual income from the back end which
creates an extra income stream for them.
Thanks to Susan B. for the great answer!
5. Beginner FAQs: Income
How do I make money?
GDI is an affiliate marketing program and you make
income with GDI from referring other people to the affiliate
opportunity, domain, and services. As a basic affiliate, GDI
will pay you out $1 per month on each domain you help
people register five levels down. We pay this out to you
regardless if the people you sign up take advantage of the
affiliate opportunity of just the domain. When someone you
register does take advantage of the affiliate opportunity,
not only will you get paid a dollar for the domains you
helped register, but also for the domains they helped
register, five levels down.
6. Beginner FAQs: WebSites and
Networks
I am not internet savvy, how do I build a website?
If your .ws site is your first ever website, try using our
SiteBuilder. The GDI SiteBuilder has some very easy to use
templates to get you started. SiteBuilder templates allow you to
personalize them in a number of ways allowing you to add photos,
contact forms and more. For a basic website or your very first
site, SiteBuilder is the perfect choice.
None of my friends or family want to join. What do I do
now?
You need to step a bit out of your comfort zone to build new
networks and get connected with others. Reach out to old
coworkers, local small business owners and entrepreneurs. They
might be interested in GDI and they might put you in contact with
people in their network. Don’t leave GDI just because mom and
dad don’t want to sign up, branch out and tap into huge numbers
of people.
7. Marketing Domains
Easy to Remember
Having a .WS domain gives you a chance to get a short,
easy to remember domain name that represents you, your
interests, or your brand. No matter what you want to do
with your domain, a short name will be easy to remember
and share. Unlike .COMs or services like tumblr, Facebook,
and Google+, a personalized site doesn’t have to be a long
name with numbers and letters. It can be whatever you
want with a .WS. Easy remember domain names, like those
GDI offers you, means more hits and more repeat visitors.
Easy to Find
As people search for you and your site, the right domain
name can mean a higher search results. When you take the
time to brand yourself and create the right domain name
for your business, search engines respond. This domain is
more likely to come up on a search engine than a Facebook
page with no user name.
8. Marketing Domains
Safe Keeping
Maybe you don’t have a plan for your domain just yet, but
someday you will. Securing your own domain name
ensures that your brand and your name are protected from
someone else snatching it up. Building a brand and a
business is much easier when you are able to secure a
straight forward logical domain name as opposed to having
to get creative because your first choice domain name is
always taken.
Credibility
Having your own site builds credibility and shows visitors
you take your site and your business seriously. Think of all
the websites you visit in a day, which do you trust?
9. Tailor Your Affiliate
Marketing
The opportunity and domain that GDI offers can be
tailored many different ways to meet the needs of each
potential new team member. As you approach people
with the opportunity, don’t think about how their joining
GDI will benefit you, but how it can benefit them. You
need to find out the needs and wants of a potential team
member to decide how best to present the opportunity.
This is marketing.
Learn what someone might be most interested in and
then market the opportunity to them in that sense. Is
someone looking simply for another income source?
Market the affiliate program. Is this person in need of a
site for their business? Market the domain and site
building services.
10. Market to Provide Value
GDI is an affiliate marketing opportunity, meaning that
adding new team members is not about just getting rid of or
selling a product, but connecting people with the right
product, price, and opportunity for them. Affiliate marketing
is about providing value to prospects and team members,
not selling inventory.
Here are a few tips to ensure you’re providing value while
working to build your team.
11. Provide Value
Educate
While the chance to generate income by referring people to GDI is
enough to get many people excited, you need to go beyond that
when sharing the opportunity. Start educating potential team
members about GDI and how to be successful with GDI right
away. This is a chance for you to provide value before someone
even considers joining your team. This value means more
educated team members and in turn more successful team
members.
Don’t Sell
As we said in our previous post, don’t sell GDI, but market it.
When you are in a “selling” mindset, you may end up with the
wrong people and struggle to meet your goals. You do not want to
sell to just anyone. You want to market the right product to the
right people who can be an active member of your team. Market
to people to ensure they are interested in GDI for the right
reasons.
12. Ensure You Get Value Back
This tip came from our successful Tissa
Godavitarne. He advised that when you
are looking to grow your team, reach out
to many people, but then take the time to
qualify them. Get to know people before
you add them to your downline to decide if
they will be good for your team. Switch
roles and instead of having potential team
members study you and decide if they
want to join, study them, get to know
them, and then decide if they will be an
effective part of your team.

There is quite a difference between marketing and selling. There is a reason why the GDI opportunity if part of affiliate marketing and not affiliate selling. Sales and selling refer to getting customers to buy a certain product, whatever it might be. Marketing is the process of finding that right product, price and placement to ensure it meets the needs of the customer. As you share your GDI opportunity, you should be marketing not selling. Here’s how:
