4. ISB’s Eco journey began over 15
years ago, and each year has seen
us grow from strength to strength,
trying to galvanize the community
and raise environmentally conscious
global citizens.
5. In conjunction with the 2006 ISB BGIC, ISB launched a
reforestation project in inner-Borneo called the ISB Million
Trees Project. The initiative was launched by Nobel
Laureate and BGIC Keynote Speaker, the late Professor
Wangari Maathai. At present count, we have planted over
300,000 trees, with the hope of one day reaching 1 million.
6. Million Tree beginnings
First launched in 2006 The Million Trees project
aims to support tree planting and forest
conservation projects across Borneo and
beyond, but especially in the areas defined as
The Heart of Borneo, with the specific focus on
Brunei.
8. One of those 300,000 was even planted by HRH Prince Charles on a visit to the region.

initiatives

sponsorship
and other
investment.
11. From as early as Key Stage 1, ISB embeds Green Issues into
the learning curriculum.
