What is NGO?
A non-governmental organization (NGO) is a
non-profit group that functions independently
of any government. NGOs, sometimes called
civil societies, are organized on community,
national and international levels to serve a
social or political goal such as humanitarian
causes or the environment.

What is
WWF?
The World Wide Fund for Nature is an
international non-governmental organization
founded in 1961 that works in the field of
wilderness preservation and the reduction of
human impact on the environment. It was
formerly named the World Wildlife Fund,
which remains its official name in Canada and
the United States.
01
Mission
Our mission is to conserve
nature and reduce the
most pressing threats to
the diversity of life on
Earth.
Vision
Our vision is to build a
future in which people live
in harmony with nature
02
History of WWF
World WIldLife Fund Organization
1961 - 2021
1961
World Wildlife Fund was
conceived in April, 1961,
and set up shop in
September, 1961, at
IUCN's headquarters in
Morges, Switzerland
1980
With critical support from WWF and the
United Nations Environment Program
(UNEP), the IUCN in 1980 publishes the
ground-breaking World Conservation
Strategy, stating that humanity exists as
part of nature and has no future unless
nature and natural resources are
conserved.
1970
WWF grants $38,000 to the Smithsonian
Institution to study the tiger population of the
Chitwan Sanctuary in Nepal, allowing scientists
to successfully use radio tracking devices for the
first time in 1973.
1990
WWF and The Conservation Foundation
merge in 1990, formalizing a relationship
that began in 1985 when The
Conservation Foundation first affiliated
with WWF.
1961 - 2021
2000
In 2000, The number of forest
acres certified under the
principles of the FSC reaches
44 million, including 6.4
million acres in the United
States.
2016
In April, WWF and the Global
Tiger Forum announce that
the number of wild tigers has
increased for the first time in
more than 100 years.
2010
The Year of the Tiger campaign,
WWF’s first species specific global
campaign in more than 20 years,
launches with the goal to double the
number of tigers by 2022.
Today
WWF works to help local communities conserve
the natural resources they depend upon; transform
markets and policies toward sustainability; and
protect and restore species and their habitats. Our
efforts ensure that the value of nature is reflected
in decision-making from a local to a global scale.
Some of their
Projects
Wildlife Adaptation Innovation Fund
WWF’s Wildlife Adaptation Innovation Fund supports the
testing of new ideas that have potential to reduce the vulnerability
of wildlife to changes in climate through on-the-ground projects.
Successes and lessons learned from these pilot projects provide
useful guidance that move conservation beyond business-as-
usual approaches and successful efforts can be replicated or
taken to scale to help wildlife endure under conditions of rapid
change. Projects piloted through this fund must meet the following
criteria:
● Address climate vulnerability of one or more target
species through interventions that directly support those
species or help communities adapt to change and thus
reduce pressure on target species.
● Be implemented in one year or less with plans to
monitor results in following years.
● Focus on on-the-ground implementation of a project
rather than research.
ArcNet
ArcNet is the culmination of years of scientific study
to understand where to target area-based
conservation approaches in the Arctic. Conserving
biodiversity helps maintain balance in the ocean and
contributes toward human health and wellness as
biodiversity supports everything in nature that we
need to survive: food, clean water, medicine, and
shelter.
Shutting Down Tiger Farms
WWF helped lead the push for
the adoption of a regulation that
says tigers should not be bred
for trade in their parts and
anything made from those parts
and removes the main
economic incentive for captive
breeding. In recent years, WWF
has sought to raise the issue of
tiger farms via direct
engagement with government
figures in those countries which
allow such farms to operate.
THEIR
FUTURE
PROJECTS
Partnership with Coca-Cola
WWF and Coca-Cola
have been partners for
14 years now
Developing and implementing a global road map to help deliver on Coca-
Cola’s strategies and goals, including its 2030 Water Security Strategy, 2030
World Without Waste goals and 2030 science-based climate target.
Supporting local WWF, Coca-Cola and bottler teams in reporting data from
collaborations that focus on the interconnectedness of goals.
Catalyzing collective investment through connections with other partners,
working groups and governments to achieve conservation outcomes.
Raising awareness of successful conservation projects to inspire peers and
new leaders to replicate, build upon and scale ongoing work.
Collaboration Activities:
“The partnership will drive investments in nature that are successful today and are
resilient to climate change tomorrow, with the aim to yield conservation and
business returns into the future.”
Plastic Diversion Systems
● waste management and recycling learning sessions for local
organizations in the community
● building or strengthening local collection/recycling points
● identifying and scaling local entrepreneurial solutions
Tailor-fitted waste management solutions
developed and implemented with local
communities
- Davao City, San Isidro in Davao Oriental,
Island Garden City of Samal, and Donsol
in Sorsogon
Goal:
To provide a sustainable collection system and plastic diversion mechanism
that can be replicated across the Philippines while taking into account the
problems with our waste management now
What it consists of:
Project PagSibol
● hybrid-learning livelihood workshops with farmers
● food sheds in different cities
Food sheds will be constructed in:
Tarlac City; La Carlota City, Negros
Occidental; Bago City and Sibulan, Negros
Oriental; Ormoc City, Leyte; Zamboanga City;
Bacolod and Baloi, Lanao del Norte; Arakan,
North Cotabato; Malita, Davao Occidental;
and General Luna, Surigao del Norte.
Goal:
advance the food and livelihood security in distant
communities across the archipelago by improving the food
production capacity of partner communities.

  • 7. 1961 - 2021 1961 World Wildlife Fund was conceived in April, 1961, and set up shop in September, 1961, at IUCN's headquarters in Morges, Switzerland 1980 With critical support from WWF and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the IUCN in 1980 publishes the ground-breaking World Conservation Strategy, stating that humanity exists as part of nature and has no future unless nature and natural resources are conserved. 1970 WWF grants $38,000 to the Smithsonian Institution to study the tiger population of the Chitwan Sanctuary in Nepal, allowing scientists to successfully use radio tracking devices for the first time in 1973. 1990 WWF and The Conservation Foundation merge in 1990, formalizing a relationship that began in 1985 when The Conservation Foundation first affiliated with WWF.
  • 8. 1961 - 2021 2000 In 2000, The number of forest acres certified under the principles of the FSC reaches 44 million, including 6.4 million acres in the United States. 2016 In April, WWF and the Global Tiger Forum announce that the number of wild tigers has increased for the first time in more than 100 years. 2010 The Year of the Tiger campaign, WWF’s first species specific global campaign in more than 20 years, launches with the goal to double the number of tigers by 2022. Today WWF works to help local communities conserve the natural resources they depend upon; transform markets and policies toward sustainability; and protect and restore species and their habitats. Our efforts ensure that the value of nature is reflected in decision-making from a local to a global scale.
  • 10. Wildlife Adaptation Innovation Fund WWF’s Wildlife Adaptation Innovation Fund supports the testing of new ideas that have potential to reduce the vulnerability of wildlife to changes in climate through on-the-ground projects. Successes and lessons learned from these pilot projects provide useful guidance that move conservation beyond business-as- usual approaches and successful efforts can be replicated or taken to scale to help wildlife endure under conditions of rapid change. Projects piloted through this fund must meet the following criteria: ● Address climate vulnerability of one or more target species through interventions that directly support those species or help communities adapt to change and thus reduce pressure on target species. ● Be implemented in one year or less with plans to monitor results in following years. ● Focus on on-the-ground implementation of a project rather than research.
  • 11. ArcNet ArcNet is the culmination of years of scientific study to understand where to target area-based conservation approaches in the Arctic. Conserving biodiversity helps maintain balance in the ocean and contributes toward human health and wellness as biodiversity supports everything in nature that we need to survive: food, clean water, medicine, and shelter.
  • 12. Shutting Down Tiger Farms WWF helped lead the push for the adoption of a regulation that says tigers should not be bred for trade in their parts and anything made from those parts and removes the main economic incentive for captive breeding. In recent years, WWF has sought to raise the issue of tiger farms via direct engagement with government figures in those countries which allow such farms to operate.

Editor's Notes

  1. Vision: We seek to instill in people everywhere a discriminating, yet unabashed, reverence for nature and to balance that reverence with a profound belief in human possibilities. From the smallest community to the largest multinational organization, we seek to inspire others who can advance the cause of conservation.
  2. World Wildlife Fund was established in 1961 by a group of passionate and committed individuals who sought to secure the funding necessary to protect places and species that were threatened by human development.
  3. Over the past four years, WWF brought together experts specializing in Arctic species and ecosystems. They provided input on five different aspects of the project: marine mammals, seabirds, fish, sea ice biota and benthos, which is life found on the bottom of the ocean. Those experts helped define the project’s guiding principles, contributed data, and evaluated the proposed network.
  4. Coca Cola and WWF PH renewed their partnership for another 3 years last August 2021. Under their renewed partnership, these are the activities that they aim to fulfill.
  5. notably lack of infrastructure and resources, and the country’s archipelagic nature Highly urbanized cities, coastal communities, islands, and lowlands from these four would be involved in the project. to help provide additional income for our stakeholders while contributing to increasing city waste collection
  6. the project has helped communities to organize and govern themselves and their savings, while supporting them in the development of agribusiness enterprises. each food shed allows for the growing of a variety of crops in a multi-level structure that requires less land than an open-air farm. Sheltered from the elements under a roof and maintained through simple hydroponics, each food shed allows for the growing of crops year-round, with space for the cultivation of small animals, such as poultry. each of the partner communities will be able to provide for their needs, while selling any surplus for additional income
